try my $5.99 chili cheeseburger combo. it's pretty delicious. president trump files a barrage of lawsuits to stop vote counting. we spoke with legal experts about what could happen next. hundreds of people took to the streets all across the bay area demanding that all votes be counted. social media companies condones misinformation during this election. cold storm coming, windy conditions, even the possibility of thunder. hour by hour is coming up. abc 7 news at 11:00 starts now. happening now, a group of trump supporters has swarmed outside the maricopa county recorders office where votes are being counted. they say they're telling election officials to count all ballots. >> video shows at least two people in the group with guns

clearly visible. a team is on the scene in full tactical gear. at one point some trump supporters were able to get inside the office before being told to leave. despite the distraction, the election department tweeted staff there will continue to do their jobs. >> they're expected to release updated results tonight. >> take a look. this is where the race to 270 stands right now. today, vice president joe biden picked up michigan and wisconsin. he now has 253 electoral votes. president trump has 214. >> there are five key battleground states abc news has et why to call, pennsylvania, georgia, north carolina and arizona and nevada. alaska has yet to be called but is a heavy favorite for trump. >> these are live pictures from atlanta, traditionally a democratic strong hold.

georgia's secretary of state said there will not be complete results from the state until at least tomorrow morning. >> we do have team coverage on the state of the race. >> let's begin with dion lynn in pennsylvania where both sides are predicting victory. >> reporter: with the race so close in pennsylvania, we've seen demonstrations across philadelphia today. election officials are vowing for a clean and accurate count while president trump, he is vowing to contest. as the votes are counted, a confident joe biden not declaring victory but says a win is within his reach. >> i'm not here to declare that we've won, but i am here to report when the count is finished, we believe we will be the winners. >> the former vice president says he's feeling good about arizona and pennsylvania. >> indeed senator harris and i are on track to win more votes than any ticket in the history of this country. >> reporter: that confidence being challenged by president trump, filing lawsuits against three states to stop counting

abc 7 news. count every vote protests have broken out across the country. in portland a riot was declared and the national guard was activated n. new york city people set fires and clashed with police. in boston, the national guard was on stand by as hundreds of marchers took to the streets. people gathered around the bay area as well demanding every vote be counted. j.r. stone talked with those at a san francisco rally and a well-known republican who calls the california rallies theater. >> dozens to took to embarcadero plaza wednesday afternoon with a simple message saying count every vote. >> we're out here to demand all the votes be counted. >> reporter: this san francisco rally was one of at least three held in the bay area. some gathered in oakland and faith leaders voiced their concerns in san jose.

republican national committee woman for california was quick to question the motive, saying by law california accepts ballots 17 days after the election. and their voices will be heard. >> that is just frankly election theater because california has probably the most liberal election laws in america. >> reporter: those at these events were enraged by what the president said after election day. >> he is outrageous. he claimed that he won? outrageous. we have to stop it. >> reporter: dillon says the republican party is in favor of counting all legally cast ballots but are challenging statutes like pennsylvania for certain exceptions. >> in some cases there's no such law like in pennsylvania, but the secretary of state has simply made one up. >> reporter: those taking to the streets tell us they are standing up for all voters and demanding they be heard. >> i'm here to defend democracy. i don't want donald trump playing games with our democracy. >> reporter: j.r. stone, abc 7

news. social media companies like twitter and facebook are trying to combat misinformation and false claims about results and ballot counting. abc 7 news reporter cornell barnard was at one of several protests tonight demanding fairness and transparency. >> people power. >> people power. >> reporter: activists rallied in front of twitter's san francisco headquarters wednesday demanding truth and accuracy from the social media giant during this close u.s. election. >> we're here at twitter because twitter's been a giant megaphone for trump. >> it's been used to spread disinformation. >> reporter: another protest outside facebook's headquarters to insist facebook protect election results and stop misinformation from candidates and campaigns. on twitter took action on several posts by president trump like this one saying his campaign was up big, but they were trying to steal the election. or that a large number of

ballots were secretly dumped. or this tweet suggesting fraud was happening in pennsylvania and michigan. twitter obscured them from immediate view, prompting this response from president trump. what is this all about? >> twitter has actually done perhaps the best job of any of the social networks at labelling misinformation. >> former tech crunch editor says facebook has also labelled misleading posts, directing users to its voter information center. >> the social networks must continue their policies of preventing anyone from calling the election early or calling specific states early or claiming that there's fraud in the election process. and we must remember that lies spread faster than the truth. >> reporter: with this election so close, the battle between truth and misinformation goes on. in san francisco, cornell barnard, sbs 7 news. president trump has launched legal fights in several battleground states. amanda del castillo looks into his claims of fraud and what

from the walmart there. sheriff's office has deployed a drone to search for suspects. and there's new developments in a string of armed robberies in oakland last night. one person has died after an officer-involved shooting. three officers were hit by cars as suspects took off. an officer then fired their weapon hitting and killing one suspect who has now been identified as a 20-year-old oakland resident. this was just one incident from what police called woven team of armed robbers who looted several locations. over a dozen people have been arrested for robberies last night. the police chief is warning businesses to be vigilant, secure cash or high value items, make sure security systems are working, keep businesses well lit and secure outdoor furniture and fixtures. the u.s. set another troubling covid record today, 103,000 new cases according to the volunteer group the covid tracking project. it's the highest daily case

count to date. there were more than 5,300 confirmed cases in california yesterday. the state's numbers began rising above the 5,000 mark this week for the first time since august. bay area health officers on thursday plan to discuss a possible 14-day quarantine for travellers coming from states with high infection rates. >> of course i think it's a very reasonable thing to consider. >> state health officials say it's something they may consider statewide. >> restricting or limiting the ability to move from higher transition areas into lower transmission areas may fit what a community needs to keep transmission low. >> san jose's outdoor late night dining program will continue through next summer. businesses will be able to stay open until midnight. contra costa county is being warned it could go backwards into the red tier because of an increase in covid cases there. the county health officer issued new guidelines wednesday. indoor restaurants, places of worship and movie theaters will
