years. welcoming everyone together as americans. good morning, everyone. it's sunday, november 8th. i'm jovina fordson. we wake up to a message of healing as they look to build their vision for the next four years. everyone will be watching, speaking from wilmington, delaware, last night. president-elect biden laid out his hopes for his presidency, he was introduced by the woman whose story you know well here, vice president-elect kamala harris, daughter of indian jamaican immigrants, the highest ranking woman in the nation's 244-year history. as you wake up, here are some pages, front pages of sunday morning papers, from around the country. we're starting here at home, in san francisco, we have the "san francisco chronicle" saying "biden wins." subtext notes the victory for bay area native senator kamala harris saying "harris to background-breaking vp." "the washington post" reads

"biden defeats trump." gives a nod to the vice president-elect saying with haar rilg harris he rebls the blue wall. it was pence fence that put biden and harris over the threshold, surpassing the 270 electoral college votes needed. nevada was called shortly after, giving biden 29 over president trump's 214. biden also surpassed the record for popular votes with more than 74 million cast. president trump remained out of the public eye since yesterday's news. he made no public appearances, but spent the day golfing in virginia. he told supporters at his golf club that he was going to win. >> did he say he was going to win? >> yes. >> i thought he already lost. >> yes, you are! >> you can hear supporters telling the president, don't give up. the president is vowing to push ahead with a legal fight n a

statement after biden became the president-elect, president trump said the "election is far from over." starting tomorrow his campaign will start prosecuting their case in court to ensure election laws are fully upheld, and the rightful winner is seated. you didn't have to be outside to hear the celebrations, honks and cheers, thousands came out to celebrate kamala harris and her win. the grand lake theater marquee reading "america told trump you're fired." that message right there, harris was born at oakland's kaiser hospital and spent her childhood in berkeley. matt boone shows us the block outside her childhood home quickly became a party. >> reporter: this is where she spent most of her young childhood, she went to the preschool at the bottom of the building and today people came from all over the bay area to celebrate.

there are some people who live on this block who lived here when kamala was a child, they remember her, know her and congratulated her today. >> we're so proud of her. she's just such a lovely, humble spirit, and we just feel her presence right here on this street. >> reporter: as dozens of people gathered on her block, judy robbins says from an early age she had a hunch this moment would come. >> i remember my mother saying, kamala, you're going to be the president one day. just joking, you know? >> reporter: even after the block party cleared out, other neighbors came by, including phoebe boyd. >> i wanted to come because kamala is breaking barriers that have never been broken before and i think it's really cool that she's the first woman vp-elect. >> reporter: driving through the east bay it was impossible to avoid the sounds of celebratory traffic jams. along lake merritt, hundreds of people came out with a common

bridge, scheduled to protect the vote but after the big announcement, it also turned into a celebration, the i-them's dan noyes and found some in the crowd do not support the biden-harris ticket. >> reporter: organizers had taken out a ticket for protect the vote rally but turned into what they called -- >> happy biden day! >> reporter: a somewhat tempered celebration. >> it means the world to me that on the one hand all of that hell might finally be over but on the other hand i know we still have to fight. this is not over. >> reporter: several women protests the lap-sided supreme court, now that amy bony barrett brings a 6-3 majority, even a little ruth bader ginsburg there today but it was a combination of groups, democratic socialists, black lives matter, and families of those killed in confrontations with place including sean montarosa who died in vallejo. >> last week five months since my brother's murder. >> sean montarosa.

>> reporter: chp in ryeon gear stood by, traffic backed up. >> extremely excited, yes. kamala harris and joe biden were actually my first two picks back when we were doing the primaries so i felt so happy. >> reporter: the protesters are hoping for the nation to hit reset after four years of president trump but there are still hard feelings for some whose candidate is not headed to the oval office. >> i've watched all three networks interview people across the country, and all the people who said they were for biden listed reasons that did not qualify -- disqualify bernie sanders. >> reporter: a few in dark clothing who did not want their pictures taken taunted the police across the bridge and back but there were no arrests, no violence, and the day ended with interpretive dance. for the i-team on the golden gate, dan noyes, abc 7 news. >> so one major question remains before biden becomes president, will president trump concede? this morning, one leader of california's republican party is

defending president trump for not doing so yet. >> all the votes haven't been counted. there's recount mandatory recount in at least one state, and other recounts happening as well as pending litigation. >> harmete dylan because it's too early for media outlets to declare a victory. we spoke with bay area talk show host and conservative active melanie morgan told us live yesterday that the fight for the white house is far from over. >> this is not something that conservatives and republicans and trump supporters are going to let go, because we feel that the media, the media went ahead and called an election that has not yet been settled. >> morgan also told us trump supporters will protest at capitals of every state, and other u.s. cities until they feel a fair result has been reached. and we're now seeing that play out here, looking at a scene at the california state capital in sacramento yesterday. there was competing, there were competing rallies for both biden and trump supporters.

things did get seeth heated at times. the california highway patrol and sacramento police tried to keep a barrier between the two groups. as president trump's legal team prepares to challenge the election results, long time friend and attorney of joe biden shared a little bit about how his legal team plans to fight against the unproven claims. joe cotchett, these photos were taken at a fund-raiser earlier this year. he's now taking on those trump campaign lawsuits. >> the craziest cases you've ever seen, an absolute fraud and i'm going to use that word straight uhm and give you some examples. people should be able to come into polling places carrying guns. poll watchers weren't allowed to get close enough to the polls, they were only allowed to stand ten feet away instead of six feet away. they want to hold up the results of the election until they get out to the period of time when

when president-elect joe biden moves into the white house, to so will his four-legged family members, his first family includes two german shepherds named major and champ, they will bring back the tradition of first pet in the white house. so i know lots of people will be paying attention to them, and we are paying attention to the weather, too, because meteorologist lisa argen is here and lisa, i put on my heat for the first time last night. >> you did? >> it was cold. >> jovina. >> i know. >> i wanted to and i should have, because i was freezing >> it was too cold. >> it was really cold, even with the wind and the temperature trend for the last 24 hours says we're a little warmer than yesterday but it's hard to believe, because it is really cold out there, numbers are mainly in the 40s and 50s and we're not looking at a lot of cloud cover, so that's another thing that is allowing for the temperatures to drop, but look at the mountains here. we're talking snow with our winter storm warning and wind advisory continuing throughout the afternoon.

49 santa clara, it is 51 in mountain view, 50 in los altos hill, 50 in san francisco and 47 up in napa. yesterday we were in the 30s so certainly it is milder due to the wind, but you're not feeling it. i'm not either. wind advisory today, a frosty night ahead, it will be dry monday through wednesday and looks like rain will return thursday into next weekend. here are the current surface winds, 22 miles an hour san francisco, you can see half moon bay up to 32 and look at hayward and concord, over 30 miles an hour, so if we go up in height or let's talk about the wind profile for the next several hours, notice the colors early in the morning, that's the gustiest winds, still breezy through 10:00 but they're backing off a little bit and as we go through the 3:00 hour, 20 to nearly 40-mile-an-hour winds along the coast and it's not really until the late evening hours the winds will begin to subside. these are dry offshore winds so even though it's cold, we are still looking at a very, very

dry brush around the bay area so we are concerned with the possibility of perhaps some fires looking right now at our winter storm warning you saw the snow on the map, two to seven inches above 4,000 feet and our winter weather advisory continuing until later on today with one to four inches of snow, six inches for the greater lake ta show area. with the south bay numbers on the cool side, you see the green here on the map, this colder air is driving down the winds, and most of the moisture is along the ocean, but we could see a little bit of that moisture dotting the landscape like we did yesterday around boulder creek, the hills of the south bay, but otherwise, it's a partly cloudy day, breezy to gusty winds out there with 58 in san francisco, 61 in concord so overall we are dry for the bay area, the further south you go, you could see a few sprinkles and the accuweather seven-day forecast featuring the windy conditions, the possibility of a shower, mainly south of us, chilly morning tomorrow, with some patchy frost, the cold
