last night, a shooting victim at the mall shot himself. a massive police response was issued. they responded to shots fired in the shotting center shortly 5:00 p.m., a san francisco man was taken to the hospital with a nonlife threatening injury. shoppers sheltered in place while officers searched the mall, and escorted people to safety in the great mall parking lot. >> i was trying to get out the way and get to do a safe place. >> officers completed the search by 9:30 last

emoryville, are celebrating a new bike and pedestrian bridge. it was hoisted in to place overnight in just four hours. the new bridge will connect east and west emoryville, near the bay street shopping area that is now separated by rail road tracks and this is what it will look like once completed next summer. all together, the project costs just about $22 million. kids in san francisco's mission district have not been for gotten. the district was hit hard with the pandemic with kids unable to go outside to play or go to school. the mission food hub feeds 7,000 families and gave toys to the kids. >> i wanted to make sure that we brought joy to every child for christmas. we went out and did a toy drive. >> love to see it. the toy drive give away will continue through january 6th when latino communities celebrate the day of the three

over in the east bay, they were giving away toys and turkeys today. abc7 news was at first covenant church in oakland, along red wood road with santa and mrs. claus herself, the effort was put together by city team that had 400 families registered for help this the holiday season. the goal was to get enough toys this year for more than 1100 children. and the show must go on, even in the middle of a pandemic. ♪ this is super impressive. the san francisco girls chorus
