personnel, what is happening in california hospitals and what we can all do to help. >> reporter: nurses and hospital staff at the heart of a stark video california health leaders released tuesday warning of the current surge. >> i am seeing nurses exhausted and missing their families. >> reporter: tied directly to the surge in covid cases is a nationwide nursing shortage now affecting california hospitals. >> it exhausts even the best nurses. >> reporter: the spokesman for san jose regional medical center saying the hospital hired new nurses and staff and still is not enough. >> our nurses are handling it. but i don't know if they can handle it for the long-term. >> reporter: the traveling nurses that fill in the gaps have been grabbed all over the country by the different

rosa. places like half moon bay moderated by the water. that is not the case tonight. the only thing that may save you from falling down into the middle, upper 20s is the north wind. still offshore. gusting up to 31. that is also concerning because it is drying out the atmosphere even more. we have recent rain and that mitigates the fire concerns. looking back towards san francisco, just a stunning view. cold in the morning with patchy frost, storms arriving beginning on christmas. another one follows over the weekend. the first thing tomorrow morning, down to 30 in napa. santa rosa. 31 in lake port. mid30s half half moon bay. 39 in san jose. bundle up. hang on to the extra layer even though it will be nice and sunny, definitely a winter-like feel.

storm impact scale comes in for christmas. light to moderate rain, wind gusts 20 to 30 miles per hour and the rainfall totals will be about .2 to inch plus of rain. here is a look at it. the first thing in the morning the rain arrives in the north bay and spreads by the afternoon and evening and continues into saturday with snow in the sierra and another system sunday night into monday. that storm looks colder and that will drop the snow levels in the mountains as well. in terms of rainfall, most will be in the quarter to the one inch category. some will pick up a little bit more. through saturday, more rain for sunday and monday. looking at 8-12 of heavy, wet snow and higher for the highest peaks. saturday afternoon, up to a foot of snow expected. accuweather seven-day forecast, a dry couple of days. dan
