>> governor newsom says the speed at which people are being vaccinated in southern california isn't good enough. the state is expanding its options, but do some of the options go too far? >> when is it going to be distributed to the public? you know, we're in january already. >> nelda wellton is referring to the vaccine and the rollout that some are calling very slow. nine of nelda's family members have died from covid-19 complications in texas she dealt with the virus personally in richmond, california. >> i haven't seen my family from texas. it's really bad. especially when i lost loved ones that i couldn't even go to say good-bye to them. so, yeah. it's been very hard. >> governor newsom says the peace pace of vaccinations is not good enough. doctors say it's going to be tough to expedite this process.

coming out of the holidays. >> that surge will likely begin in the next few days or weeks. on top of that, the new strain of coronavirus. there are six confirmed cases in the state, all in southern california. despite the disappointing rollout of the vaccine, he says a plan is under way to use dentists, pharmacies and even the national guard to give shots. >> i hear that from folks calling me directly, people that are expressing themselves very forthrightly and understandably around their anxiety of when do i get these doses. >> this friday we'll learn whether the stay-at-home order will be extended for the bay area. san francisco officials announced last week that the city will keep the order in place indefinitely. we've didn't stories of businesses struggling. we spoke to owners who hope they

cases. leading up to it, we routinely heard about concerns that a twindemic was coming. for some reason, the flu cases are not spreading while the coronavirus is. doctors just aren't seeing it. >> we are testing still thousands of people in our emergency room settings and in our hospitals for a combination of covid and flu tests, and we're essentially seeing no flu. some weeks we'll have no cases, other weeks we'll have maybe one or two cases. >> it is not clear if all the precautions being taken because of covid are slowing down the flu, but it could be the case. experts say no matter what people are doing, just keep your guard up. let's move on now to other news tonight. in the north bay, the search continues for two children swept to sea when a sneaker wave rolled up on them. this happened at blind beach near jenner, west of santa rosa. despite a search until dark

stay in the 40s. the big picture, high pressure briefly it in control. that will bring back the sunshine. it's a dry day tomorrow. temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees, but by wednesday, our next storm system will approach northern california. we'll turn cloudy again in the morning on wednesday, and then we'll track some scattered showers. tomorrow, though, enjoy the sunshine. mostly sunny in the afternoon. 57 in the city, 58 in city, 58 n and san jose. the storm impact scale, a level one light system we are tracking with light showers. the best chance of rainfall will likely fall in the north bay. and we're talking really low amounts. less than a quarter of an inch of rainfall. watch what happens as the storm moves south. it really falls apart. we'll find pretty low totals in the south bay. mostly sunny tomorrow, light showers on wednesday. we'll track another storm moving
