south airport boulevard at wonder color, and also the northbound 101 off ramp at wonder color is shut down while they work on this issue. you should expect this to be closed for several hours. kumasi? >> thank you, jobina. president trump's impeachment is now in the hands of the u.s. senate. and he faces a historic second impeachment trial that won't happen until after president-elect joe biden's inauguration. checking back in with jobina with the latest on this from the live desk. jobina? >> thank you, kumasi. president trump is now the only sitting u.s. president in history to be impeached twice. lawmakers in the house impeached the president for inciting the mob that stormed the capitol yesterday -- excuse me, last week, violently. sources tell abc news he angrily watched on tv as house lawmakers put him in the history books yesterday.

this time ten republicans supported it. >> there was a domestic threat at the door of the capitol, and he did nothing to stop it. >> they searched the halls of the building for the vice president, who they came to hang for treason. they overran the office of the speaker who they came to assassinate. they sought above all else to seize control of our government in the name of donald trump. >> and now there is heightened security in the nation's capitol as the investigation continues into the riots. thousands of national guardsmen, many armed, surround the building. the earliest the senate trial could begin is wednesday, which is inauguration day. democrats are set to take control of the senate soon. outgoing senate majority leader mitch mcconnell has told his colleagues he hasn't decided how he will vote yet. reggie? >> jobina, thank you. president trump released a video right after the vote, he made no mention of the impeachment, and took no responsibility for the attack. but he did give his most forceful condemnation of the violence yet and disapproved of any new threats.

week's events forced him to focus his actions on public safety. dorsey said in part, quote, having to ban an account has real and significant ramifications. while there are clear and obvious exceptions, i feel a ban is a failure of ours ultimately to promote healthy conversation. and a time for us it reflect on our operations and the environment around us. new at 6:00, don't expect covid-19 to disappear once this pandemic is over. while speaking to the jpmorgan healthcare conference yesterday, moderna's ceo said we're going to live with this virus forever. he said health officials will need to constantly monitor the virus for new variants and develop new vaccines to fight them. and here say look at the situation in california right now, new numbers show close to 34,000 new covid cases are reported yesterday, 589 people died, and over the last two weeks 13.3% of covid tests have come back positive. california is trying to

sp t vacnerollout.an aew cnd u the next group receiving the vaccine. amy hollyfield has more on this. amy? >> reporter: hi, kumasi. the governor is saying one thing, but bay area counties are saying something different. now, the governor announced that cal expo in sacramento yesterday, that anyone over the age of 65 is now allowed to get the vaccine, that he's ready to see california move to the next phase of distribution. but here in the bay area, somehow the officials say they are not ready with san mateo, contra costa and santa clara county all announcing they will not be vaccinating people under 75 yet. >> we're not ready to go to 65 and older yet. as i described, we're trying to fill up a lake with a garden hose now. >> it is not as easy as getting

a flu shot and i would love it to be that way. but i think we will get there in the next, you know, we're slowly inching towards that goal. >> reporter: yeah, officials say distributing this vaccine is a complex process, pointing out it takes two shots, it has storage temperature requirements, they are also dealing with trying to reach people who can't get to the vaccine sites, people who don't have health insurance, they say it is all very complicated. officials say you should stay vigilant. if you are in the tier that can get the vaccine, keep calling, keep looking for it, sutter health telling us they're going to set up a hot line later today, they're going to set that up, people can call and make their appointment to get a vaccination, people over the age of 75 at least for now. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. there are plenty of questions circulating about the new covid-19 vaccines. if you're wondering when you might be able to get yours or the differences between the versions, you can go to

we'll start off with some community temperatures and conditions, especially in the south bay, where we have a little bit of fog at santa there theresa. 54 in cupertino. we have microclimates in the south bay. and we have mid-40s to mid-50s everywhere with the thickest fog now up in the north bay. so lpetoday. it is mild to warm this morning to afternoon. if you're exercising. if you're at home, take many breaks, frequent breaks outside and enjoy the sunshine. and calmer at the beaches. by 9:00, most of us in the mid to upper 50s, mostly sunny sky. look at that, by 11:00, 59 to 64 degrees. and even warmer 1:00, 62 to 69. by 3:00, heading out, after school, or kicking off work early, we have mid-60s to low

time. according to the east bay times, he will plead guilty to 36 counts and will likely receive nine years of jail time. but the alameda county d.a.'s office told victims' families credit for time served and good behavior likely means he will not be going back to jail. his 2019 trial ended with a deadlocked jury. he was released in may after posting bond. the jury found co-defendant max harris not guilty. 36 people died in the gauchia fire in 2016. still ahead, the star studded lineup expected to take the stage at president-elect joe biden's inauguration. it is a different kind of

what? i was an 80's kid. it only gets better when you switch and save with geico. in less than an hour, samsung expected to announce its newest gadgets. the company has not officially said what it is going to release during this morning's galaxy unpacked 2021. however, tech website mashable reports it expects samsung is going to announce the galaxy s-21 smartphone line, featuring three new phones. the website also expects samsung to unveil a new earbuds and something new called a smart tag, which is basically its own version of tiles gps-enabled device. the live stream starts at 7:00 this morning.

the bipartisan vote to impeach the president a second time shows that no one is above the law. >> donald trump is a clear and present danger to our country. and that once again we honor that oath of office to protect and defend the constitution of the united states. >> now that the house voted to impeach, house managers will present the article to the senate. mcconnell says there is no chance the senate would complete the trial before joe biden's inauguration on wednesday. here is a look at the timeline of when the impeachment trial could begin. tuesday, the 19th, is when the senate returns. that is the earliest the house could send the article of impeachment and then, of course, the next day is the inauguration. it is also the earliest day of the senate could begin the trial. many california lawmakers spoke out on the house floor in the impeachment proceedings, and as expected,very democratic re f californiapresidt. >> capitol police were spit on,

vaccine for obvious reasons. and just seems that every time i try to get it, they're saying we'll get back to you, can you call next week, that type of thing. >> reporter: he's 85 years old. health officials say it is very complicated to figure out who can get it, and where they should get it, should it be through the private or the public sector? the county where they live or the county where they work? most bay area counties say they don't have enough doses yet to open it up to another tier of people. sutter is going to start booking appointments and they're going to set up a hot line today, so you can ct numr atat'soing to b over the age of 75. the youngsters in their early 70s and late 60s still need to wait. officials say vigilant, keep looking, keep trying, keep fighting to get that vaccine if

last week's riot at the capitol. that officer's name has not been released. new to an abc news exclusive, we're hearing from jacob blake, for the first time, since a kenosha wisconsin police officer shot him, leaving blake partially paralyzed. the kenosha county district attorney announced last week that the officers involved will not be charged. in august, the kenosha officer shot blake seven times in front of his children. >> put my hands up, i didn't want them to shoot me in my face or my head, he kept shooting. >> what is it going through your mind? >> my babies are right here. my babies. so after he stopped shooting me, i said, daddy love you. no matter what. i thought it was going to be the last -- i thought it was going to be the last thing i say to them. thank god it wasn't. >> you can watch more of michael

strahan's interview with jacob blake on "gma" at 7:00 right after abc 7 mornings. the bar board of directors is set to vote on a resolution today asking that the alameda county d.a. charge a former b.a.r.t. officer in the killing of oscar grant. latifah simon is heading the charge at today's meeting. she wants nancy o'malley to charge anthony pirone with felony murder for grant's death. grant's family asked her to re-examine the case in the fall, following a report from b.a.r.t. that said pirone struck grant in the head and kneeled on his neck. the d.a.'s office announced earlier this week they would not be pursuing the case. markets are reacting to a significant and unexpected spike in u.s. unemployment claims. 965,000 people applied for unemployment benefits last week, that's an increase of 181,000 from the week before. economists forecasted 800,000. more than 5.2 million people are still receiving state unemployment benefits, that's up
