6:17 pm
>> we do need the rain. but as we go throughout the week, dion, some of that rain is going to become heavy. that's where the threat for some debris flows, even mud slides will linger. we'll talk about the specifics in one second. tonight we're tracking showers. live doppler 7, very light showers in the north bay right now. we'll press in a little closer to the south bay where we do find some pockets of downpours working through fremont right now on their way to san jose. so this line about 6:27, moving into alum rock, about 6:50 this line moving into mt. hamilton. to tahoe. light snow right now. a couple of inches expected overnight. we do have a winter weather advisory in effect until 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. it was a cold day today. only made into it the low 50s for the most part. right now it's chilly out there. most cities are in the 40s already. we're watching our winds increase along our coast as we speak. so a wind advisory, it will go into effect at 7:00 p.m. tonight through 10:00 a.m. tomorrow
6:18 pm
morning. where we could find gusts over 40 miles per hour. and it looks like these winds will really be confined to the coastline. it won't be a widespread wind event like we had last week. so overnight tonight, we had the showers right now. the showers will be exiting before 10:00 p.m. so overnight tonight it's mainly dry, mostly cloudy, chilly and windy along the coast with temperatures in the low 30s to mid-40s. now tomorrow, it's a temporary lull in the wet weather. tomorrow is a bright but it's a breezy day. we do expect the winds about 10 to 20 miles per hour. with temperatures in the low to mid-50s. then the rain returns here on tuesday. so future weather tuesday morning will find increasing clouds. it's pretty dry tuesday morning. it's in the afternoon, the evening that rain returns as this atmospheric river does make landfall along the california coastline. it looks like that rain becomes very heavy early wednesday morning. so we really want to focus our timeline on wednesday morning
6:19 pm
with the storm impact scale. it's a level three strong storm we're tracking. the strongest storm so far this winter season. and i really want to emphasize the timeline for the worst effects of the storm will be before the sun gets up here on wednesday. so really before 7:00 a.m. uwednesday, we'll find moderate to heavy rain. 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is very likely with the winds gusting 30 to 50 miles per hour. so it's for that fact we just had a flash flood watch get issued for the north bay and the santa cruz mountains, because this is the first real threat so far this season for debris flows along our various burn scars from the 2020 wildfire season. so we're going to watch these areas very closely for the threat of heavy rain, strong winds and flash flooding very possible. we're going see significant snow in the sierra as well, starting tuesday afternoon, a winter storm watch goes into effect. three to four feet of snow is very likely along our highest
6:20 pm
peaks. we could see six feet of snow. so do not try and travel into the sierra midweek. >> will be impossible as this heavy snow comes down. so back here at home, here is the accuweather seven-day forecast. temporary lull in the rain tomorrow. it's bright and breezy. then the rain returns tuesday, especially at night. it is rainy. it is windy, and then on wednesday, that level 3 strong storm. the worst effects in the morning with that heavy rain, those strong winds. and we're still tracking downpours and showers on thursday with a moderate storm. and then more rain coming our way friday, saturday, and sunday. so nonetheless we're going make a big dent in our rainfall deficit over the next seven days. now abc7 sports with chris alvarez. >> two of the game's greatest quarterbacks went head to head this afternoon with a trip to super bowl lv on the line. tom brady and the bucs visiting cal's aaron rodgers and the packers. rogers going for a second super bowl appearance, brady his record tenth. packers down four.
6:21 pm
rodgers, his only interception of the game. sean murphy bunting gives the bucs the ball near midfield. tom brady going to air it out to scotty miller who somehow gets behind the defense, 39 yards and in for the touchdown. tampa bay led 21-10 at recess. at one point, the bucks led by 18, but brady, he threw three interceptions. that helped green bay stay in things. adrian amos the interception there playing center field. geen bay back in business. ensuing position, packing the red zone. rodgers to davante adams. the palo alto high star. the touchdown is good. two-point conversion fails. so green bay down five. here is what everybody is talking about on social media. green bay down eight. fourth and goal with just over two minutes to go. but the packers kick a field goal instead of going for it. why? you got to get the touchdown. you need the two points there. green bay's defense has to make a stop. third down. brady's pass incomplete. but a very late flag gives tampa
