vision for the covid-19 vaccine rollout. dr. mark ghaly will live street his afternoon update, the first time we've seen him since the state lifted the stay-at-home order. you can watch it at noon. and in the east bay, two law enforcement agencies say they haven't been offered the shot despite their frontline duties and the high number of online duty deaths linked to covid-19. amy hollyfield is live with why they say they are not being made a priority. >> reporter: yeah, officers here are looking around and they are realizing that other counties are treating their officers differently than they are being treated here in marin and contra costa, they have offered the vaccine to their law enforcement officers. but in alameda county, officers have not been vaccinated. that includes sheriff and police officers. and oakland firefighters have been vaccinated. but not police.

amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. a clinic at good samaritan hospital will remain closed for now. last month the hospital admitted to vaccinating teachers who were not eligible. the county took immediate action announcing that it would withhold more doses from the hospital and nows mercury news is reporting that good samaritan is reach vealing that it has appointed new oversight for this clinic and canceled appointments for anyone not currently eligible. the county will allow the hospital to administer second doses to people who already got their first dose. more talks today to try to get a bipartisan agreement to help millions of americans struggling through the pandemic. president biden met with republicans last night, but there was no deal made. faith abubey explains neither side appears ready to abandon their plan. >> reporter: a show of vooip insi vooip, b bipartisan, but the only real agreement out of the two hour meeting is to keep the conversation going on a covid relief package.

and the adirondacks, that is where we'll measure it in feet. back here at home, we have our own winter storm, we have some rain, you can see it moving even up into the north bay. so this storm did stall as we expected to. but notice once it does start to move, there is not much behind it, we'll get a lot of sunshine as we head into the afternoon hours. so right now you will have to deal with the wet weather, and also temperatures extremely mild for this time of the year. our highs are usually in the mid to upper 50s and we're in the low to mid-50s right now with rain and fog on the peninsula. and you can see low to mid-50s just about everywhere else with rain and fog this morning. so let's take a look at future radar. as we head through the morning commute, it will be the east bay and south bay that continue to get wave after wave of light showers. by noon, it is just about over. there may be a few lingering showers, but that is about it. overnight, we'll clear out and it will be significantly cooler tomorrow. there is the possibility we could get another tenth or

sunny and warmer than average this weekend. today's temperatures in the mid to upper 50s along the coast and into the north bay. upper 50s to near 60 elsewhere. and then tonight, look at that, mid to upper 30s in our deepest inland valleys, low to mid 40s around the bay and out towards the coast. let's take a deeper dive into tomorrow's storm, it will have light shower, it will be much faster mover and that means lighter amounts of wet weather. in fact here is a look at midnight, you can see it is pretty quiet. as we head into the morning commute, rain or the showers will move into the north bay and that is where they will stay during the morning commute. but by the time we get to lunch, some are filtering into everywhere else except the south bay. and into the evening commute, you can see a few left over showers that will linger through the evening commute. by the time we get to midnight, it is gone. we're not looking at a bit, a tenth of an inch at most. so the 7 day forecast, what you wll notice tomorrow, it will be a little cooler with low to mid-50s. the coolest day moving forward. the 60s come back thursday in

it is 5:23. here are the 7 things to know this morning. number one, the alameda unified school district is setting up mass covid-19 testing to get their k through 5th grade students back on march 8. they plan to test teachers and faculty tomorrow. and kaiser says it could take four years to vaccinate all of its patients because they have only received 300,000 doses. they have the capacity to administer 200,000 vaccines a week. and a live look at philadelphia, slow moving winter storm is bringing blizzard-like conditions to the entire northeast this morning and some areas are actually under a state of emergency. nothing like that here, but we have our own winter storm dropping rain.

pretty slick. super commuters, your journey is some of the wettest. around tracy and also discovery bay, there may be a few puddles there. and the stalling of the storm happened as we expected, but it is going to start moving after we get through the morning commute. that is the key. so let's take a look at what happens. first we'll look at oakland and 880 where we've had nearly and we won't warm up much, low to mainly mid-50s the rest of the afternoon with showers becoming more scattered at noon and just about gone by 4:00. and then the clouds will open up at 7:00 and expect a much colder night ahead before another chance of rain rolls in tomorrow. also a one on our storm impact scale. a look at that coming up. over to reggie now. the city of ale la me today would like to reopen elementary schools and even it seems to be

on board. one big problem though, covid testing. amy hollyfield is live in alameda with this challenge. >> reporter: you said it, the school district recognizes that covid testing is the key to getting to reopen, so they plan to start testing their faculty and teachers starting tomorrow. so a big step happening here in alameda. the goal is to reopen tk through 5th grade on march 8. district plans to do the covid testing on empty middle and high school campuses. administrators say it must be done for the kids. >> the notion that we will go to having young children and churn with special needs staring at tablets and computers for hours and hours a day, we are all kidding ourselves if we think that that is a proef dusis a pro educate children. >> reporter: the teachers union

is close to reaching an agreement with the district to head back into the classroom saying the district has worked hard to try to make this happen. this is for elementary schools, no word yet on when they are aiming to get middle and high schools open. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. california's largest health care provider says that it doesn't enough doses toof paties t drooe says the ceo says it comes down to supply. and they have only received 300,000 doses. and that averages out to about 43,000 doses a week. at that rate, it means that it would take roughly just over four years to have enough of the first dose for all of kaiser's california patients. experts sxernls expect the pace up soon. >> i think the challenge for all of us, we just need to know how many vaccines are going to be

laurel high school is up for discussion at the san francisco board of education meeting. board members are reportedly in favor of permanently switching its admission policy to a lottery system. the chronicle first reported this over the weekend. back in october, the board voted for the lottery system for the next school year. but now a new proposal would permanently end the school's selective admissions process. today's meeting will allow for more time for public comment on the issue. today contra costa county may cap the amount of fees that food delivery companies can charge restaurants. supervisors will consider limiting companies like uber eats door dafsh dash to a 15% c. restaurants lose large profits by leaning on the delivery companies. if this is approved, the limit would take effect immediately and expire whenever indoor are dining is allowed back the 100%

capacity. tonight, our special series called california dreaming, and all this week we're looking at issues that threatens california dream. and introducing to people finding solutions. today we're focusing on the threats of wildfires. 2020 saw record breaking heat across the state. the extreme weather conditions coupled with millions of dead trees had california primed for the infernos. but there is hope. experts are working on ways to help lessen the effects of wildfires and they say all fires are not bad. >> we used to have so many areas burn pretty frequently in the past. maybe even every ten years. and that included lightning strikes as well as indigenous burning. and when european americans showed up, we put a stop to both and that has changed the oomts of fuel that is out there and ready to burn. >> we'll have much more on what is being done to reprevent a repeat of 2020.

i'm working hard here at home. let's take a look at what is going on this tin the richmond, point richmond, you can see 580 and 80 are all wet and that continues emeryville, through oakland, san leandro, dublin on 580, and 880, they are both wet up through oakland. and you can see it stretches across the san mateo, dumbarton bridges. and sunnyvale, some of the heavier rain is showing up on live doppler 7. nearly half an inch as we look across a wet western span of the bay bridge. showers today and tomorrow, two separate storms, they are both a one. colder nights and fog ahead and a dry pattern with warm sunshine starts thursday. today you can see most of the showers are gone by the afternoon hours with temperatures ranging from about 57 to 62 degrees. there is your colder weather tonight especially in the valleys, mid upper to 30s.

and mainly low to mid 40s around the bay and towards the coast. i think fog will be a real issue the next couple mornings for our commute. a one tomorrow, even lighter showers than what we're dealing with out of this storm. they will move quicker, so the time for it to rain will be shorter. so two things that will make the storm significantly different than this one. you can see it coming in during the morning commute, mainly in the north bay. but then it will spread almost everywhere except for the south bay by noon, and then even the south bay will get a few showers as we go into the evening commute. but once it is over, so are the shower chances. we'll get anywhere from a trace to possibly a tenth of an inch of rain especially for the north bay, mountains maybe up to a third of an inch. i'll show you the warm temperatures when we come back with the accuweather 7 day forecast. want to talk to jobina and find out about what the weather is causing this morning. i'll take it from here. the landmark hollywood sign in

starting thursday. this morning we are hearing from a good friend of saved by the bell star dustin diamond, he died yesterday just three week after he was diagnosed with stage four cancer. diamond was best known for playing screech on the popular '90s sitcom. he was the youngest of the cast and the only one to appear in every spinoff. he played screech for 12 years. dan block one of his close friends says that diamond discovered a small lump on his neck last year that continued to grow. but he delayed going to the doctor out of fear. >> he just can't like the public ridicule. he just wanted to be a normal guy. i think he put it off because he wanted to live his life and not have the public scrutiny. >> diamond's rep says that he was high spirited and his greatest passion was making other people laugh. dustin diamond was 44. an oregon woman who survived the 1918 spanish flu has gotten

next one moves in. all right, good morning, everybody. it is tuesday, february 2nd, we want to get straight to mike for a look at our forecast. good morning, mike. >> good morning, kumasi, joe dee jobina, reggie, hi, everybody. you look at the loop of the last two hours of the rain that kins to move southwest to northeast. even up to the north bay, light rain, even though the radar is not as full there as it is in other areas. so let's look at what's going on. you see on the peninsula, whether you're on one, around half moon bay, heading toward pacifica or 280 from pacifica and daly city to san francisco, we have light rain there, we have light rain in castro valley and hayward through 580, getting on to 880 or possibly heading down to the dumbarton bridge. and also plenty of wet weather across the south bay. here is a look at oaklandoakland, .081, dry, but temperatures cool, in the low to mid-50s.
