"we're appalled by this brazen and heinous act and are actively working with law enforcement. as a father myself, i can only imagine how terrifying this incident must have been for mr. feng and his family. a gofundme account has been

established for the feng family. >> the response from the bay area warms my heart. there's still humanity in all of us, i guess. >> reporter: for sure. that gofundme account started small. it's now up to $80,000. he says that money is going to help a lot because he wants to take time off following this ordeal. live in san francisco tonight, abc 7 news. >> definitely do not blame him. we hope that gofundme continues to rise. now, one of the areas we're focusing on is education. san francisco took a big step forward with school campuses. the issue has been contentiouses and the city actually sued the schoolboard wednesday over a reopening plan. schools will reopen if the city reaches the rent and on-campuses staff are vaccinated.

if san francisco goes to the orange tier, teachers and campuses will be back on staff without being immunized. they'll vote on a deal, february 15th. parishioners attended services indoors. the supreme court lifted the ban on indoor services late friday night. in response to the state updated its guidelines. the capacity is limited to 25% of the building's capacity. key metrics in california show things are improving around the state. the number of people hospitalized has dropped to below 12,000. a months ago it was 22,000. the seven-day positivity rate stands at 5.4%. the state did report more than 15,000 newly diagnosed cases today, which is about the daily average for the last week.
