the rest of us see slowly-clearing conditions. and right now no fog is formed but that is a possibility deeper in the morning commute. 50 astro tower. and temperatures mid- to upper-40s by 7:00. mid- to upper-40s at noon and same thing at 4:00 and a little breezy close to the coast. chances of rain this weekend coming up next. abc7 isworking to build a better area by bringing new information every day about the controversy vaccination. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield. >> reporter: cvs is going to be having the same issue that all vaccination sites are having and that is limited supply. and because of that, they aren't releasing which stores are going

to have vaccines, which locations. just the cities. we got a map of all the cities for you. and that is because the stores that have the vaccine could change based on supply. but this map shows you the 16 cities in the bay area that will have the vaccine. so that is going to be cvss from san francisco, oakland, vallejo, to lafayette. and you do need an appointment and as of right now they don't have any appointments available. they will be giving shots 65 and older and healthcare workers. these doses are from the federal government. they decided to use pharmacies as distribution sites and send them to stores like cvs and right now cvs has 250,000 doses nationwide to admin. about 82,000 here in the bay area. they will add locations as they get more vaccine. and today is the first day that cvs will be giving out shots.

reporting live in lafayette, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. rate i'd pharmacies will also start administering covid vaccines in seven states today including california. rite aid is expecting to get at least 100 doses per participating store to start. the pharmacy cautions that appointments will be difficult to come by at first but it expects that to get better within the next few weeks. vaccine eligibility is based on state guidelines. president biden says there may be enough vaccine to deliver to 300 million americans by the end of july. biden says the government has secured 200 million more doses from pfizer and moderna for a total of 600 million. the president also highlighted another 100 million doses promised by june will now be delivered by may. this morning on gma, dr. anthony fauci says the vaccine will be open to all americans, not just high risk groups, possibly as soon as april. >> once you get past the

priorities, then you can essentially say anybody who is anybody can just get vaccinated. i refer to that sort of to make people understand it as open season. no matter whew you are. you can get a vaccine and when you have enough vaccines do that, then you are going to see a great surge in the number of people who get vaccinated. and that is what's going to happen as we go from april to may to june and then hopefully by july we'll be at that point where we have enough vaccine for virtually everyone. >> you can watch george stefanopolis's interview coming up at 7:00 on gma with dr. fauci. >> the variants on the coronavirus now here in the bay area. some exploring the idea of providing patients with a second booster shot. one study worldwide calls for mixing and matching, giving boosters with a different vaccine than they originally received. the goal would be to increase supply and broaden protection for a virus that is proving to be a moving target.

requiring staffers to be vaccinated, which is something many teachers unions have been demanding. president biden wanted schools open in the first hundred days of his presidency but that is in question now. former president trump may have been much sicker with covid than his doctors revealed. the "new york times" reports trump's blood oxygen levels were extremely low. he also had a lung problem associated with pneumonia caused by coronavirus. the times says his condition was so poor officials believed he would be put on a ventilator. this information raises questions about whether trump's condition was worse than his doctors acknowledged. now to the impeachment of former president donald trump. trump apparently doesn't want bruce castor to speak during his

likely a factor. one person who stopped just short of the crash said when he got out of his car it was like stepping on to an ice rink. closer to home here the winter weather is creating a headache for people headed to tahoe. drivers on i 80 and highway 50 are seeing rain, snow and windy conditions. chains are required from king vail to donner lake on i-80. chain controls are not in effect on highway 50. and the way i understand this is always going to be for people leaving when they are trying to come home from the long weekend. >> yeah there is definitely a lot of snow up there. at least the potential for the weekend. so yes, we'll keep an eye on that and have that forecast coming up sortly. but they just exited a winter weather advisory, up to a foot of snow fell yesterday through the this morning. pretty cloudy around san jose.

up i'm kenneth moton, abc news new york. san francisco sup matt haney has a giant problem on his hand. where is he going to put part of the giant coca-cola billboard that was dismandeled last year. the chronicle reports coca-cola actually saved the letter c or one of them from the billboard. haney wanted the entire sign reserved but says he'll just take the c. coca-cola is giving the c a new paint job, doing restoration on it. the company will keep the letter in its bottling plant while haney tries to find it a permanent home. the sign was up 83 years until coca-cola decided it was time to shift technologies away from billboard advertising to digital platforms. i'm glad they saved at least

mainly mid- to upper-50s at noon, 4:00. few offo of us hit 60, 62 this afternoon. tonight 50s. let's get to jobina and talk about the news. as abc7 works to build a better bay area we are tracking the challenges to getting the covid vaccine to everyone who wants it. mass vaccination sites are facing logistical issues with supplies that are limited and unpredictable. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at a cvs in lafayette where vaccinations will begin today. >> reporter: some cvs stores will start offering the shot today but they are about to experience the same issue other vaccination sites have had to deal with. and that is a lack of supply. it is such an issue that l.a. county had to shut down five sites. including the one at dodgers stadium because there just isn't

enough supply. temporary shut down but for now they had to close them. and organizers say this is an issue that makes it tough to plan. they can't offer appointments to people unless they have a shot for them. it also makes it tough to staff these large locations. >> are you concerned about what's happening in l.a. county, having to close down sites because they don't have enough supply? >> yes, i am definitely concerned. that continues to be a challenge for all of us. the unpredictability of the supply makes it very difficult to plan, particularly for large vaccination events. >> reporter: so far bay area locations are carefully spreading out their vaccines, as carefully as they can. so at this point no sites are at risk of shutting down at this time. but there are no appointments available at cvs pharmacies like this one here in lafayette. today is the first day but because of that limited supply everyone has already grabbed all of the available appointments.

the key is the same for cvs as it is everywhere. just keep checking back. as soon as they get more supply they will release more appointments. live in lafayette, amy hollyfield abc7 news. thank you amy. happening today solano county health will hold its second covid-19 vaccination clinic for healthcare workers and residents over the age of 75. the first was held last saturday at the solano county fairgrounds in vallejo and it will be there again today from 1:30 p.m. to 3k p.m. only open to eligible individuals who have preregistered. in the east bay preparations under way at the oakland coliseum. it will be open as a mass vaccination site starting next week. the site will get its doses from the federal government directly. planning to get .6,000s a day. bart says it will also be offering a free ride home for anyone who gets a shot there. new this morning,

neighborhood pharmacies will join the race to vaccinate as many people as possible against covid-19 today. 64-year-old marsala thompson became the first to be vaccinated a at a wall greens in the u.s. she received the shot live on gma and inside the raleigh, north carolina pharmacy she routinely goes to. the federal government is hoping to provide one million doses to pharmacies across the country. walgreens, rite aid costco and cvs are the businesses that have signed up but supplies are limited and shots are being offered only at select pharmacies. that will be one resource for people looking for vaccinations. >> the other is the standing up of at least a hundred vaccine centers, community vaccine centers. and the other is to use mobile units to get into not easily accessible areas. >> dr. fauci says he anticipates it will be july before the federal government has enough vaccine for everyone. coming up later today abc7 news is answering questions about

officials tell abc news phase one of the new admission program will start next week. including an estimated 25,000 asylum seekers who have been designated to wait for their u.s. immigration court date on the mexico side of the border. it is still unknown which ports of entries will begin accepting cases. officials are warning against anyone rushing to the border, saying individuals should wait further instruction. now to the impeachment trial of former president trump. this morning trump's defense team present that you are counter to the democratic house managers case. and it is only supposed to take about three to four hours. the democrats wrapped up opening arguments yesterday after two consecutive days of compelling and graphic video from the january 6 insurrection. now it appears that trump's legal team may be at odds with itself. this morning, abc news chief washington correspondent jonathan karl says he spoke with many people on ore close to
