the moscone center site will be shut down for at least a week. governor gavin newsom was just there on friday to out to the state's progress on distribution. the city college site expects to resume giving out shots on friday, but only second doses, and no existing appointments will be canceled. san francisco is moving forward with opening a third mass vaccination site this week at the produce market in the bayview, but with limited appointments. spots will only open when the city has enough vaccine on hand. mayor london breed took to twitter to express her displeasure with having to put everything on hold. she says the state and federal government just can't keep up. good evening and thank you so much for joining us. i'm dion lim. along with word of a severe vaccine shortage, some reassuring news. california reach adecco individual 19 milestone today not seen in months. the seven-day positivity rate came in at 3.7%, and it hasn't been under 4% since november 8th. the state reported more than

8800 newly diagnosed cases which is below the daily average for the past two weeks. and another encouraging sign is hospitalizations are now under 9,000. to the race in social justice issue. just one topic we focus on in our effort to help build a better bay area. today we heard directly from victims of a jump in attacks on asian americans. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard was at an anti-violence rally where people took a stand for the safety of us all. >> and we're here to say that we are not targets. >> that message heard by hundreds who gathered in san francisco's civic center, a rally to confront the ugliness of recent violent attacks against elders in the asian american community across the bay area. >> as a multiracial community, we're not going stand for it, and we're going condemn this violence. >> reporter: many say the violence isn't new, but there are reasons it may be escalating. >> we have also lived under a

during a shooting at about 1:00 yesterday afternoon at ninth and washington streets in the old oakland historic district. this is video of that location. then last night, six people were wounded near third street and casada avenue in the bayview district. early this morning three men were shot at turk and hyde street in the tenderloin. police say they don't know if those two shootings are connected and two people were shot at a hotel friday night at drum and market street. a man from fresno turned himself in for that shooting. in the south bay, multiple sideshows kept san jose police busy overnight and led to dozens of drivers receiving citations. you can definitely hear the gunfire though it is not clear if anyone was injured. san jose police say they did impound four cars which can be expensive because the person has to pay for towing and storage fees. new developments now in the

impeachment acquittal of former president trump. abc7 reporter alex presha tells us some republican lawmakers today are facing fallout for voting in support of impeachment. >> reporter: former president trump acquit to have had single article of impeachment, incitement of insurrection. >> he is hereby acquitted of the charge. >> reporter: house manager stacey plaskett on cnn defending the decision not to call witnesses. >> we didn't need more witnesses. we needed more senators with spines. >> reporter: seven republicans broke ranks, joining every democrat in voting guilty. some of those republicans now facing backlash. louisiana senator bill cassidy has been censored by his state's gop. i'm attempting to hold president trump accountable. and that is the trust i have from the people that elected me. and i am very confident that as time passes, people will move to that position. >> reporter: lead impeachment manager jamie raskin telling nbc this was the most bipartisan impeachment conviction vote in american history. >> he is obviously a major

family is safe tonight after driving off crow canyon road into a wooded area in castro valley. the driver was able to call for help last night but wasn't sure where he was. alameda county sheriff's deputies were able to locate him by getting him on the phone and asking him to watch for their emergency lights. the family was found 200 feet down a ravine. deputies were able to get the family and their dog back up safely. well, it was a valentine's day to remember for fritz and marjorie buell, who have been married for 67 years. today both received their second shot of the covid-19 vaccine.

they treated it as a date, even dressing up for a bit. the buells are 93 and 88 years old. and because of the pandemic, they haven't been able to hug their children or their grandchildren in more than a year. the long-time san jose residents say they are now looking forward to those hugs. to the east bay now, where a new mural is being painted on the side of a home in west oakland. the art is dedicated to the unsung women of the black panther party. jill kristina vest who owns the home recently commissioned the mural. she said she wants people, specifically young girls to be able to walk up to her house and feel the pride in history. the house is located a few blocks from the panthers' former headquarters. contra costa county did not break an annual valentine's day tradition. there were no big crowds, but plenty of happy nuptials where you can see lots of couples eager to show off their marriage

of market. after a year of supply chain problems and lighter demand, they are happy to see the crowds. presidents day weekend is among the busiest for ski resorts and the ski shops. we found people lining up for equipment at sports basement in walnut creek. >> a couple of weekends ago for one day we had over 250 reservations. and that's a big uptick, compared to what we normally see. >> i'm just getting a tune-up today so i can keep up with my kids. they're all up in tahoe with my husband on this valentine's day, and i'm getting ready to join them. >> yeah, sounds like fun. since stay at home restrictions were lifted, this shop has had so many rentals, it had to extend its closin time by two hours. after a slow start things are also picking up for the resorts in the sierra. sugar bowl shared some video and pictures with abc7 news. these were taken after the latest storm. the typical snowpack for a season is just about 500 inches. right now they are about half of

that. due to the pandemic, people should not be driving up and expecting to hit the slopes, though. >> there is no wake-up day of tickets anymore. you need to make sure that you're planning on the day you're going to come and buy those tickets early. >> one other thing to consider is capacity at the lodges because that capacity is limited. all right. shifting gears now. taking a look at weather closer to home. drew tuma standing by with a little bit of a different pattern for the week ahead. >> yeah, we'll find some rain moving through overnight tonight. a little bit of snow also falling in the sierra. let's show you live doppler 7 right now. a little bit of wet weather along the coastline. some drizzle across the city, and woe we zoom into street level into the east bay. some light drizzle into richmond to oakland stretching to san ramon and livermore. we'll see more showers move in over the next 12 to say 18 hours. right now a live look where we have overcast skies on a shark tank, and we will find a little bit of drizzle moving in early

tomorrow morning in the south bay. so temperatures right now with that cloud cover, we're really not going to move too far from where we sit at this current reading. 51 in the city. 57 in oakland. the same in san jose. but we're down to 49 in santa rosa. 48 that current temperature in fairfield. on the storm impact scale tonight and tomorrow, a level 1 light storm that we are tracking. scattered light showers. rainfall with this light storm. less than a quarter inch of rain. i think most spots will end up with less than a tenth of an inch of rain. hour-by-hour early tomorrow morning, this is at 1:00 a.m. where we stopped the clock. most of the shower activity is focused in the north bay. as the sun gets up, 8:00, 9:00 a.m., we'll see some of the showers along the approaching the south bay, and then as you go into the afternoon, we do expect these showers to really get out of here. the cloud cover to start breaking down, and we'll end the day with a little bit of sunshine out there.

so as we go through the next 24 hours, rainfall estimates again really low totals. most spots ending up with less than a tenth of an inch and of course as you get into the south bay, it gets much lower than that as the storm system kind of falls apart. overnight tonight, we'll find temperatures just a few degrees away from where we currently sit in most cities. upper 40s to lower 50s with mainly overcast skies. and again, those on and off-white showers moving through as well. let's take it into your monday. we begin with the showers in the morning. they move out of here in the afternoon. cloud cover begins to break down. we'll see some afternoon sunshine in spots. temperatures close to average for the time of the year. upper 50s to lower 60s. we'll take you to the sierra right now. do have that winter weather advisory. currently in effect until 4:00 p.m. tomorrow. snow levels are pretty high, above 6,000 feet. we'll see 2 to 4 inches of snowfall. not a huge snowstorm, but our highest peaks could see up to 8 inches. that will certainly make for

focused on the shot you want to hit and i executed pretty darn well coming down the stretch, i thought. i love pebble beach. every time i've ever played it, i wonder why i don't come back more often. it's just a special place. every time you step up to the tee, you just -- you tend to take in the sights and sounds and don't really focus on the golf as much. ithink that's kind of helpful for me. 30,000 fans in the stands of the daytona 500. the largest crowd in the state since the pandemic. bubba wallace making his debut as the driver for michael jordan's new team. everything starts out good. and then we got trouble on lap 14. a massive 16-car pileup. luckily, no major injuries, but quick exit for many as they just hit each other there. the red flags stopped the race for cleanup, and then it started raining really, really hard. at last check, they're trying to get back to racing. so far a six-hour delay. and at the last check when i checked, 15 laps in. so we'll keep you posted on this race. kevin durant missed nearly a week due to covid protocols, was
