really excited. >> i'm excited. i'm just excited. >> pretty much excited was the word today as another bay area community opens up a drive-through covid-19 vaccination site. with that, we say good evening and thank you for joining us. i'm dion lim. one issue we focus on in our commitment to help build a better bay area is your health including the covid-19 vaccination effort, which is ramping up in the bay area. north bay residents are lining up in their cars today to get that long awaited covid-19 vaccine as a new drive-through clinic opened. abc 7 news reporter cornell bernard joins us there live now and cornell, does this mean they are getting more vaccine shipments there? >> reporter: hey, dion. yes. marin vaccine supply is increasing week by week. one reason this drive-through clinic is open here in the

terminal parking lot. starting today, shots are being given from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. by appointment and folks couldn't be happier. the wait was finally over for terry. >> i'm excited. >> reporter: she was first in line sunday at a new drive-through covid vaccine clinic at the ferry terminal. >> i live by myself so i've been super paranoid. i didn't want to get sick. i got 50asks and hand sanitizers and shields. >> reporter: this clinic by appointment only. pfizer vaccine doses were being put into the arms of marin county residents ages 65 and older. >> i've been waiting. i'm 66 and a half so i just thought, i should get it. >> this is my fourth try. merc >> i did some walk ins and they weren't doing it or waited no more vaccine so keeping fingers crossed. >> reporter: vaccine shipments have been delayed by extreme

weather across the nation. some appointments cancelled or postponed but supply is slowly catching up. >> the fact we're able to open this site is a good indication that the supply is in increasing week to week. it's also a sign that we will be able to open more tiers very soon. >> reporter: starting monday, sonoma county is expanding its vaccine reach. folks 65 and older including restaurant and grocery store workers are eligible for a shot. when you can schedule an appointment, still depends on supply. officials say a 5,000 dose shipment of the moderna vaccine is expected monday or tuesday. gary is one step closer to feeling more confident. >> it's a sense of relief, actually. you know, just looking forward to my first day, this clinic had a goal of 250 vaccinations, but this afternoon, they opened up 150 more appointments to bring in more traffic.

soon, they hope to vaccinate 2,000 people a day. cornell bernard, abc 7 news. >> so much encouraging news. appreciate your report very much. cornell. thanks. people can take muni for free to and from vaccination appointments in san francisco starting tuesday. all they need to do is show their appointment confirmation or vaccine card as a proof of payment. residents who use the mta's central trip card will get an extra $60 to get to and from vaccination sites. the card helps seniors and those with disabilities cover taxi rides during the pandemic. pa rides to vaccine appointments will be offered for free wherit the city. the governor updated the state's vaccination map today. the state is bringing the vaccine to minority communities where fewer people have access to cars and public transit. the problem is having enough vaccines. >> later in the summer, may,

abc7news.com. to the peninsula where in san carlos the unified school district will start in person learning tomorrow. it will go in phases starting with kindergarten and first and second and third grade in a couple weeks and then fourth and fifth grades in the middle of march. when san mateo county moves into the red tier, the district will address sixth through eighth grade. the big question stands what about other districts? state lawmakers want schools back open no later than april 15th. governor newsom has said that is not good enough. abc 7 news insider phil spoke about the plan on abc 7 mornings today. >> what is the key difference between your plan and the governor's plan? where do you see the difference? >> i think the difference is very, very slight. i think we will be getting feedback he wants us to go faster. he wanted to focus originally on

k through 2 grades and making sure they were fully open. we think the differences are very mild. >> assemblyman ting says under the plan districts can reopen before april 15th if they are ready to do so. the united states is closing in on nearly 500,000 deaths from covid-19, a mark it will hit today or tomorrow. the white house says 2 million of the 6 million doses delayed by the winter storm have been delivered. it expects to catch up by the middle of the week. and california's shift to a new system of delivering and scheduling vaccinations is starting in select counties. the state has turned to blue shield to manage a centralized system. in other news now, in the east bay, a man arrested in a shooting that left two emergency workers in antioch injured is accused of murder. antioch police today released photos showing bullet holes in emergency vehicles. crews were responding to a medical emergency last night when police say someone drove by twice shooting at the group.

a firefighter and p wounded. a woman working nearby saw it all happen. >> all of a sudden, i see one fall and guns started shooting so i was like no, i ran inside. all my co-workers ran inside. we all saw the same thing where paramedics fell down. >> both victims were released from the hospital today. officers arrested darion williams of stockton after a police ended in richmond. he is accused of shooting death of a man in discovery bay. he faces one count of murder and ten count of attempted murder. a relics of san francisco's past moved to a new location today and you can see it was quite a sight to witness. a grand victorian was just picked up and moved six blocks from franklin street to fulton street. there were a few close calls. power lines and streetlights were removed for the move.
