bit offshore so that's going to bring us sunshine and slightly milder temperatures this afternoon. expect for on our south facing beaches, like half moon bay, where it's going to be 57, the rest of us around 64 to 70 degrees. more on that rain coming up. here's jobina. >> thank you. new overnight, concord police are investigating how a person died after their body was found in the middle of the street. this is on concord avenue just outside the meridian square strip mall. the street has been blocked off since midnight. it's not clear how the person ended up in the street. police have not released any additional details. covid vaccine number three for the united states. johnson & johnson begins deliveries of its newly authorized single shot vaccine. here's a live look at shepherdsville, kentucky, and you see this is one of j and j's central distribution sites, they are packing it up. crews have been boxing up the vaccines all morning long. this vaccine can be kept at standard refrigeration temperatures for up to three months. it is shown to be effective

against the south african and brazilian variants. health leaders continue to say you should get whatever vaccine first becomes available to you. this morning, johnson & johnson's ceo is on "gma" laying out how fast they plan to get shots to americans. >> we anticipate march shipping 4 million over the next several days, we then expect to have about 20 million having been delivered by march, and then we'll be on this path to do 100 million by june of this year. >> first doses could be in people's arms as soon as tomorrow. of the first 4 million doses sent out, 2.8 million go to states and counties, the rest to pharmacies, community groups and qualified health centers. johnson & johnson vaccine doses are expected to arrive in california this week. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at the alameda county fairground vaccine sites with details from the governor. good morning, amy. >> good morning, jobina. we keep hearing about supply issues at mass sites like this one. this should help that issue

significantly. we are expecting 380,000 doses of the johnson & johnson vaccine in california just this week alone. this is the third vaccine to hit the market. joining pfizer and moderna's vaccine. those who tell us they have struggled to get one of those doses really hope that this one is going to make their effort a little easier. >> you call the phone number, you stay on hold forever. someone final picks unand says sorry, there's no appointments available. >> my mom is 81 and i still can't get her in to get a vaccine. >> reporter: the number of doses arriving in california from moderna and pfizer are also expected to go up. now the governor has not announced yet which counties will be getting this first batch of johnson & johnson, but he did say as more vaccine is administered the number of covid cases continues to go down and, in fact, he's calling the drop

in cases remarkable. he says this month should be a big good month for california in terms of vaccinating people. live in pleasanton, hollyfield, abc 7 news. a steady daily decrease in cases statewide. 5100 are in the hospital with coronavirus, that number is down by 2,000 since last week. the positivity rate also continues to decline. it's now 2.4% over the last seven days. the cdc says just under all californians have received one shot. you can fol along with our vaccine tracker and compare california's progress and find your place in line, on our website abc7news.com. bart could be getting money for two major projects in the covid-19 relief bill if the senate passes it. the bill includes $140 million specifically for the extension of bart into downtown san jose.

the plan has been in the works for 20 years. local officials say these funds are necessarily because local revenue has dried up during the pandemic. >> this money would alleviate some of the strain on some of the local sales taxes that have been impacted by covid-19. >> we know part of this money is going to go to build a tunnel from silicon valley to san francisco. these tech oligarchs are the last people that need anybody's money. >> bart director says without the money, the project could languish and rack up more costs. an effort to keep street as little safer for bicyclists is officially off and rolling in one san francisco neighborhood. abc 7 news was at the intersection of alameda boulevard and san bruno avenue where there are protected bike lanes. that means there's special stripping and green boxes opt pavement for designated box

we're back at 6:the on this monday. we have rainfall potential friday into saturday and a possibility up to a half inch in places like san francisco, so as we get closer in the high resolution model starts to grab on to this, we'll real kind of get down to the better details than what we're seeing right now. we've been following this thing for a couple days now. it's looking like it's really going to happen because not much

santa clara county is expanding eligibility to two groups critical to getting our local economy back on track. teachers and farm workers. the county got to work sunday vaccinating workers at monterey mushrooms farm in morgan hill. the workers are an integral part of our food supply chain, but they are at high risk of death from the virus. leaders say agriculture is a multibillion dollar industry in santa clara county. >> there are are two issues we need to remember. one is making sure that people get the healthy food they need, and the other it's an important part of our economic recovery as well. >> very convenient. we come to work and at the same time we get vaccination. it's easier for us. >> the monterey mushrooms vaccine pop-up will open again on wednesday in tandem with the farm workers union. follow with your county's vaccine rollout with our tracker, compare california's progress and find your place in line, at abc7news.com. starting today kids will be back in the classroom in the nation's fifth largest school

district. pre-k through third grader will return to campus in las vegas on a hybrid model. classrooms have been sanitized. more than 1800 busses will run again to bring students to and from school. vaccinations are not required for teachers and the school district and teachers union haven't said how many have been vaccinated. at home oakland parents and students held a rally demanding schools reopen. they gather yesterday, parents tell us distance learning is hurting their children and they want to have an option to send them back to the classroom. >> our kids have been out of school for almost a year now. we believe firmly that it's time for them to be back in. it's safe now. >> last week oakland unified presented a plan to get pre-k through fifth graders back in school by late march. the oakland teachers union says the plan does not address all of the safety measures needed. happening today, president biden will meet with the president of mexico to discuss graigs issues. president andres man new well

lopez obrador wants to propose an immigrant labor program. it could bring up immigrants a year to work legally in the u.s. the biden administration has not said if it will back that proposal but said both countries agree on the need to expand legal pathways for immigration. new this morning, a paris court convicted former french president nicolas sarkozy of corruption. he was sentenced to one year in prison. he was found guilty of trying to illegally obtain information about an ongoing information into his campaign finance. prince philip transferred to a different london hospital to be treated for an infection. buckingham palace made that announcement this morning. the 99-year-old first admitted to the hospital nearly two weeks ago and also under observation for a preexisting heart condition. he's expected to remain in the hospital until at least the end of the week. prince philip retired from public duties in 2017 and he is rarely seen out in public. coming up, a scam warning.

in the south bay there was a crackdown on side shows over the weekend. 40 people were cited for just watching. four others were arrested for illegally carrying firearms and reckless driving. five vehicles were impounded for 30 days. san mateo police arrested a man after he called in to say he shot his neighbor. he was identified as 57-year-old alan runchi. it happened just after 11:30

yesterday morning at an storage lot just off of highway 92. officers say they found a 57-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest. detectives say the two men knew each other and got into some kind of fight before the shooting. an oakland community group will meet to organize foot patrols in chinatown. the east bay association is hoping to get its volunteers on the streets of chinatown to accompany shoppers and residents. those foot patrols are in response to high-profile crimes targeting asian americans in the neighborhood. organizers say the volunteers will be unarmed and partner with police to report incidents. as the bay area confronts issues of race and social justice we are here to help. just head to our website abc7news.com/takeaction for a complete list of local resource jooz to your morning money report. more young adults are becoming victimses to online scams according to new report from the better business bureau. it's online scam tracker shows people between 18 and 24 lost an

spring. our three coldest months are behind us. that is fantastic. here's a look from the east bay hills camera. not as breezy as it was this time yesterday nor will it be in the afternoon hours. it's going to be a day full of spring sunshine and above average highs. passing clouds from the wet weather system passing to the west of us over the ocean and may bring a little fog to the peninsula coast. our coolest highs this weekend when we have our best chance of wet weather. to the south bay, 67 to 69 this afternoon. as warm as it gets on the peninsula, 65 to 66 degrees. the southerly wind will keep places like half moon bay 57, but milder in the sunset, 63, downtown south san francisco, sausalito into san rafael around 63 to 64. the north bay 65 to 67. when you get deeper into the valleys. east bay shore, 67 to 68. a little bit warmer in the valleys, 67 to 70. thinking about dining out we've got 60s through 6:00 with the sun setting at 6:04 p.m.

[ inaudible ]. >> this man showed up to challenge the protesters and got shouted down. the proposal calls for a seven story building with 100 low income units.

the group says it's inappropriate for the neighborhood and are concerned about crime and a lack of parking. one city supervisor says they've been misled. >> the unfortunate situation is a group of opponents to the proposed affordable family housing development at 2550 irving have been spreading a misinformation that has unfortunately created confusion. >> the supervisor says he and the developer will meet with the community before the project is submitted to the city. the bay area still has some of the highest rent prices in the country, despite taking a big hit from the pandemic. a new report shows the median price for a one bedroom in san francisco is about $2600 and that makes it the most expensive in the u.s. san jose is third and is actually seeing its median price go up. that hasn't happened since the beginning of last year. oakland is fifth on the list with a one bedroom renting for $2,000 a month. as we take in this gorgeous sunrise behind me, i have to

tell you about people that are leaving this magical place. a north bay family is hitting the road in a trailer today searching the u.s. for a new place to live. the whole family has called healdsburg home for several years. one reason they're leaving is to find more space at an affordable price. so they're going to explore 48 states over the next six months. >> it wasn't always a monetary driving thing, but we do want more space and that's -- seems like that's how we're going to accomplish it. >> we do love it here, we love it in sonoma county and we've been here and we just -- we're feeling led that there's just a little bit more for us out there. >> the holtz put up their house for sale and the entire family is leaving including four children. lady gaga is calling her dog walker a hero. thieves stole two of her three dogs and then shot him and drove off. doctors expect ryan fisher to make a full recovery. police are still looking for two suspects, a woman who found the
