building a better bay area for a safe and secure future. >> finding annancer to vaccine equity. there's a renewed push to make sure everyone, especially in some of the hardest hit areas, can get a shot. good evening and thank you so much for joining us. i'm dion lim. a congressman is promising more vaccine doses for some of the most underserved communities. congressman swalwell visited a mobile clinic in hayward at a local church. the pastor tells abc 7 news reporter the need for the vaccine in his community is real and over due. >> saw the line and said hey, let's do it. >> they jumped into this long line for a covid vaccination, located on the grounds of glad tideings church in hayward. appointments were not required for this weekend's vaccination clinic. a partnership between the church

and fema. >> underserved communities suffered the most through covid swalwell wants to see more where they're needed. he hopes the rescue plan act aimed at resources during the pandemic will make it possible. >> up to 8,000 vaccinations a day is great but we need to go to communities, especially minority communities that have historically been ignored or have rightfully their own concerns about vaccines. >> working really hard across the whole area to say come on, you've got to do it. >> reporter: he says hosting the vaccine clinic at his church will help build trust and combat distrust of the vaccine. >> these sites like this will bring people out, who otherwise wouldn't go for the bay centers. >> reporter: areas hard hit have left themselves out of the

vaccination plan, including hayward. >> of course, our numbers were sky high. >> we're hoping that, by doing this, we can stem the tide of the covid vaccination and maybe get back to doing what we think is normal. >> this mobile clinic returns in three weeks to give second doses. in hayward, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. family-owned local pharmacies are also starting to join in on vaccination clinics right here in the bay area. this clinic is being run by the fremont fire department. 600 eligible people were vaccinated today. pharmacists want people to know they are working to keep the community, they call home, safe and healthy. >> we're local. we're not a chain that's cvs or any of those bigger chains. we're a local pharmacy that's getting this done. >> if you are eligible for a

vaccination, he says you should sign up for an appointment through their website or give them a call. vaccines are going to more arms in oakland. a vaccination clinic opened at the true vines missionary baptist church with the help of fema and california office of emergency services. it's in a zip code the state is targeting to provide greater vaccine equity. you must have a photo id. the site will be open again on the weekend of march 27th. and they're monitoring the vaccine rollout with our tracker. it also shows when you might be able to get the vaccine and how your county is doing. you can find this resource at our home page. to the north bay where a school district is taking an interesting approach to education. the novaudo unified school district is going to have a marketing campaign to attract

new students and keep existing ones from transferring. with 11th and 12 graders returning this coming week, all schools in the district will be open. there's been a push for some parents of return to in-person learning five days a week. there are solutions for struggling students. better ways to catch up and confront the learning loss all this week on abc 7 news. there was a line at the front door at that san francisco museum of modern art, as it opened to the general public for the first time since november. it was a welcome moment for staff and visitors. visitors are asked to reserve a ticket in advance. the house is expected to vote on the nearly $2 trillion covid relief bill, with the goal of getting another round of stimulus checks out by the end of the month. shaw tells us there is growing concern about the spread of variants.

most of us will be stuck in the 50s. rain does come back in the forecast tomorrow as well. the number one system we're tracking, on and off showers through wednesday. tuesday and wednesday, a chance of a thunderstorm popping up. and we could see hail and isolated lightening. tomorrow, the best chance of finding showers will likely be in the north bay, where we've had the scattered showers moving through. as we advance into tuesday, the rain becomes more widespread. tuesday morning, yellow and orange indicating stronger spells or storms might be setting up, that produce hail or lightening. the storm prediction center has placed the entire bay area under the risk of a thunderstorm popping up. rainfall, very beneficial over the next couple of days. by wednesday, a half of an inch to three quarters an inch of rain. rain tomorrow, best chance, the
