jury selection. >> the prosecution and the defense in this case ar to be looking for jurors, no matter what they've seen read or heard, can still keep an open mind and listen solely to the evidence presented on trial. >> jury selection is expected to last about three weeks. they'll face questions about whether they participated in protests after floyd's death and how they feel about the blue lives matter movement. security in minneapolis is at an all-time high right now. over the weekend protesters gathered outside the courthouse where today's protest will happen. kumasi? >> thank you, jobina. also happening today, it is sentencing day for the man who pleaded guilty in the deaths of 36 people in the ghost ship warehouse fire. derick almena pleaded guilty to 36 counts in january. the makeshift caught fire in december of 2016. there were no sprinklers, no

agreed to. amy? >> hi there. yes, they did reach a deal but it only impacts a small number of san francisco students. the deal will bring back kids to six elementary schools in the first wave of reopening which will be april 12th and kids at another 18 elementary schools in the next phase. there is not a mention in the plan be to bring back kids at the 40 other elementary schools in the district or the middle and high schools. but it is a start after being closed for moecre than a year. >> i am grateful to share with you that sfusd is on track to offer in person learning options. >> it's great to set a day. it's what a lot of parents in the community have been asking the school district to do. >> reporter: now the school board still needs to approve this plan. the board has not said when it will take a vote, but it is scheduled to meet tomorrow. san francisco city attorney has sued the school district to try

next month. former san francisco mayor willie brown got his covid-19 vaccine and he talked with abc 7 news about his experience and the push to have other people do the same. some churches in african-american communities have opened for vaccinations but some people are still skeptical of getting t shots because studies found african-americans are least likely to express comfort with the vaccine. brown says getting vaccinated is essential to building public trust. >> forget this business of age, forget this business of occupation, or any of those things. let's vaccinate everybody. and if we do, we'll stop this disease. >> california announced it will set aside 40% of its doses for people living in hard-hit zip codes. abc 7 news is monitoring the covid vaccine rollout in california with our vaccine tracker and it also shows you when you might be able to get the vaccine and how your county is doing. you can find all of this on our home page at abc7news.com.

the effort to recall governor newsom came within a few blocks of his doorstep this weekend, a few hundred people rallied at the state capitol, announcers say they have close to 2 million petition signatures. one political analyst with uc berkeley believes they will get the recall on the ballot but probably won't actually get the governor recalled. >> governor newsom has a decent approval rating right now, about 50%, it was higher, it's been going down, but 50% and that contrasts to the 30% that gray davis had when he was governor in 2003 and he was recalled from office. >> each california county has until the end of april to verify signatures to make that recall happen. some other california politicians have vowed to run against newsom in 2022 and it's expected they would run in a recall alexis should that happen. in a statement last night newsom's political team said in part, quote, the republican recall scheme is a transparently partisan attempt to install a

trump supporter as governor of a state that elected newsom and rejected trump in historic land slides. these republicans want to waste energy, attention and $100 million of taxpayer funds all of which should stay focused on vaccinating, recovering and reopening. breaking news, protesters are showing up as we speak to the minneapolis courthouse where jury selection is set to begin today for the george floyd murder trial. former police officer derek chauvin pleaded not guilty to the incident seen kneeling on floyd's neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds last summer. security has ramped up there over the past few days bringing the eyes of the nation back on minneapolis. new york governor andrew cuomo is facing growing calls to resign. five women have come forward in the last two weeks accusing cuomo of inappropriate behavior. cuomo was defiant on sunday, said there is no way he's stepping down. the latest accuser is karen hinten who worked with cuomo in the late '90s and claims he invited her to his hotel room

tomorrow morning. here's future radar and you can see by 9:00 there is light to moderate rain moving into that before mentioned area but watch this line break apart as we head to noon leaving just some isolated light showers and a little bit of snow in the mountains of sonoma and lake counties. as we head into the evening commute pretty quiet to start, a mix of sunshine and clouds, and then you can be see more showers move in as we head up towards midnight. those fall apart so the closer you are to the coast the more likely you're going to get some of that wet weather. overnight they reach deeper into the east bay which means tomorrow's morning commute could be the one most likely to be widespread with slick streets. you can see the rainfall amounts are not going to be much as we head through the evening commute, mainly in the north bay along the coast and then overnight. you can see as we wake up tomorrow morning a lot slipperier outside and it gets worse as we head through tuesday and wednesday as a stronger part of then e next weather. want to get to jobina and talk about the morning commute.

how are we doing monday, jobina? >> monday is looking very great, mike, thank you. good morning, everyone. we are going to begin with the bay bridge toll plaza which is our busiest spot. metering lights came on at 6:26. i know the backup looks rough, it is, but once you make it through the metering lights you're pretty much at the limit until you get the through the tunnel and speeds drop down to 40 miles per hour once you get to the western span of the bridge. moving over and checking in on a live picture here. our second one in walnut creek showing you 680, a very nice ride there, in both directions on northbound and southbound so that looks good. i want to show off the map here because you can pretty much see we don't have a lot of red here. green is good. and we do have h wind advisory issued by the chp through the altamont pass. the san francisco bay ferry is considering big changes to get you back on board. "the chronicle" reports the agency is thinking of adding many routes and slashing fares as much as 20%.
