without a single gop vote even though a poll found 70% of americans support it. alex presha, abc7 news. as the president pushes for more americans to be eligible to get the shot. amy hollyfield live at the mass vaccination site at city college where they are going to be administering the first johnson and johnson doses in san francisco. hi amy. >> well hi there. as the first doses here at the site. they have 1,000 johnson and johnson doses here. for city college. and they are start giving those out today. the johnson and johnson vaccine is being called the one and done vaccine. you only need one shot of this one, not two. according to the city's health departme, 6 san franciscoans have received the johnson and johnson shot so far. but they really plan to highlight it here today with a press conference to make sure people are feeling comfortable about this new vaccine. having this third option just

californian adults who want to be vaccinated could be by the beginning of the summer. live in san francisco. amy hollyfield. abc7 news. and top california health officials rolled up their sleeves, promoting john lewis's oneshot vaccine as amy was just talking about. >> the thing that came into my mind when that vaccine went into my arm was hugging my mom again. >> many counties across california received their first large shipments of johnson and johnson's doses this week. california's department of public health broadened its vaccine eligibility rules. 4 million californian will become eligible starting monday. transit and utility workers, janitors and people age 16-64 who have disabilities and serious medical conditions. the state also updated its rules to say it will not require anyone disable order sick to show proof of their condition to get the vaccine.

santa clara county officials and health ceos are showing a united front and they are resisting the blue shield state takeover. >> we are proud of the state of california and the work they have done. what we're asking is to keep that partnership alive so that at a local level we have the ability to meet the needs of every single member of our community. >> the county said they want to retain control because their system is working. our media partners at the mercury news report the california department of public health says counties will not retain control over distribution. it says the state will determine where the supply goes relying on recommendations from blue shield. new developments. san francisco students could return to school in exactly one month. the school board unanimously approved a plan to reopen april 12th. preschool through fifth grade will be the first go back. as well as special education. four days in and one part time

danville police are releasing new information about a man who was shot by an officer. it happened at sycamore valley road in camino ramon yesterday. >> reporter: police first got calls of a man throwing rocks off the freeway overpass behind me on to 680 but it ended here when police say that man pulled out a knife. >> the calls started coming in just before noon. a man seen throwing something, possibly off the sycoverss>> th. as the officer tried to talk to

him, the man pulled out a folding knife and opened it. >> reporter: danville police chief said the officer on scene told the man to drop the knife several several times. they released this picture with the knife in one hand and a bag of groceries in the other. police have not yet released the full video. what happened next was only described by chief shields. >> he then advanced towards the officer, who discharged his weapon striking the man once. >> reporter: all of this happened in the middle of the intersection at sycamore valley and camino ramon as people watched from their cars. this video right after the shooting as other officers came running over to help. the man was taken to the hospital for treatment. his condition was not disclosed. police have not yet released his name or that of the officer who shot him. the shooting is currently under investigation by the contra costa sheriff's department and
