is one step closer to applying for approval in the u.s. astrazeneca released the results of a u.s. study and, jobina is breaking down these numbers . good morning. astrazeneca says the vaccine is 79% effective systematic covid-19 a 100% effective in stopping severe disease and scientists have been waiting for the results of the study to clear up some confusion about how well the shots work last week, more than a dozen countries temporarily suspended their use of the astrazeneca vaccine following reports of blood clots in some people who got the shot the u.s. study found no increased risk of blood clots and also found that the vaccine is effective across all ages. previous studies did not establish that. the vaccine is been authorized for more than 50 other countries but hasn't been given the green light in the u.s. dr. jennifer ashton is talking about the results of this trial.

he believes the crux took pillowcases and collected large amounts of foreign currency and cameras around the house. san francisco police are not investigating the incident . >> redwood city police are searching for the person who intentionally set a man's car on fire. abc 7 spoke with the man's family and does not want to be identified but they do share the photo. a man who is asian and has a disability recently started working at safeway and relies on the car to get there. is now using a rental. police release a photo of a suspect last night and said an accelerant was used to light the fire on saturday. the investigation is ongoing. they do not believe that this crime was hate motivated today's going to be declared willie brown junior day in oakland in honor of the former san francisco mayor. the oakland mayor welcome willie brown in front of a historic apartment building overlooking lake mira. he just turned 87 years old on saturday african-american mayor of tampa disco, serving two term starting in 1996 and was also california's for black speaker of the assembly .

senator scott weiner and assembly members will be here in san francisco this morning told the press conference to condemn hate against the asian community. there were rallies of support for the asian community over the weekend, from san francisco to san jose. in the city, more than 1000 people took over market street calling for an end to violence and hate . >> this is a call to arms, call to action good to just stand up and say no more. enough is enough . >> my mom was actually shopping , instead of ornaments or dressing, she shopping for baseball bats to protect yourself. this is not the life i wanted for my people . >> police say they've seen a rise in attacks on asians, many of them of been caught on camera. in san francisco, breed is going to bring back community-based safety patrols, similar to the guardian angels because she wants them to protect seniors, walk with them
