this is not the first mass shooting we've had in the state of colorado. >> reporter: a man with a rifle opening fire in the parking lot on monday afternoon and then making his way inside. >> he sounded the alarm and that's when more shots started. more shots. it's scary. >> reporter: shoppers and employees desperately running, some huddling in a storage room imagining the worse. police rushing to the scene, the sound of gunfire ringing through the radio traffic. as officers try to commute communicate with the shooter inside. >> there's a shooter, active shooter. >> reporter: finally an hour after the first calls came in police escorting this man shirt shirtless and bleeding from the super store. he appears to be in handcuffs as he's led out and placed in a stretcher. >> i promise the victims and the people of the state of colorado that we will secure

justice. >> a pain staking investigation is already under way both at the crime scene and in interviews. >> reporter: richard cantu, abc news, new york. new details now on the deadly zogwild fire. calfire said today a pine tree that fell on to power lines ignited it. the wildfire burned in shasta county last fall killing four people and destroying 204 buildings. calfire said its investigation found that the power line set the fire that pg & e owned and operated. moving to contra costa county, the second county to extend vaccine eligibility to people 50 and older. this as the county took a moment to remember the lives lost to the virus. we're live in martinez with the emotion event.

>> reporter: candles lit in memory of the 750 people that died due complications lost to covid-19. >> businesses lost, schooling not what it should be for many of our children. >> reporter: a flag flew at half staff outside the contra costa regional medical center, while lost lives were remembered this wasn't about sadness and what was lost but also the good to come along with this actual ceremony a virtual event of healing. >> our message tonight is about hope. it's not always easy to feel hopeful during a pandemic. >> reporter: but it was felt on the streets including contreras who has covid three months ago but also someone who just got the vaccine and is excited about what's to come. >> i feel better, i feel strong. and i'm very optimistic. >> reporter: as of monday, contra costa county will allow everyone 50 and older to get a

covid-19 vaccine shot. that's an additional 325,000 people. officials admit supply is limited, they're urging everyone to be patient if they're on the list and have received a confirmation e-mail. >> we're a couple of years off. that's okay we're in line, waiting and excited to get it done. >> reporter: the county health director tells me it's unclear as to when the next round of individuals will be eligible for the next covid-19 vaccine. jr stone, abc 7 news. the only other county in the bay area vaccinating people over the age of 50 is solano county. abc 7 news was at a vaccination location. its supply has been reduced by 60% recently. and new developments tonight the u.s. national institute of allergy and infectious diseases says aztra

zeneca may have included outdated information from a vaccine trial and that could give an incomplete view of the efficacy of their shot. >> astra zeneca is reporting its vaccine is 79% effective at preventing infection and 100% effective at preventing severe disease and hospitalization. several european countries briefly halted its use over concerns it caused blood clots. the trial in the united states however found no increased risk or serious side effects. a bay area couple took part in that trial. the husband got two doses of the vaccine and the wife a placebo. he thinks it's already kept him from getting infected. >> i experienced no reactions from both doses and my arm didn't even feel anything. you know, i would say, it actually helped me a lot. i went out to a hockey tournament in texas with my son, many kid got covid, and one of them was my son.

named clarise sustained after she was attacked by three men in broad daylight while she and her friend were walking home from church in knob hill. three suspects including this person in an orange ski mask approached clarise from behind and grabbed her handbag. when clarisse didn't let go the suspect punched her in the face. even getting dragged by a vehicle. you can see, there she is just lying in the street. clarise hopes the perpetrators are caught and that justice is served but credits her faith in god for getting her through this ordeal. she has this message to those responsible. >> kids, i forgive you and i want you to, like i really hope and pray that you guys will get just whatever you need out of life and not in a way that's

effects similar to prozac. >> using private money, the question is does it sort of move over into the public arena because once you start a program up and it's generous and everybody looks it it's really tough to stop it. >> reporter: san francisco is exploring a similar program. kate larson, abc 7 news. more stress for the state's jobless trying to get their next benefits check. an untold number of people trying to both certify their benefits or apply for the first time are being kicked off the online portal. 7 on your side's michael finney has more on this. >> reporter: the edd's website warns of limited service. some customers are experiencing issues using the services we're working to restore service as soon as possible. please check back later. >> 7 on your side received this first complaint about this issue on saturday. focus on fixing your website, so we all can get paid, one person tweeted. those receiving their benefits must recertify every two weeks

in order to get their next unemployment check. those trying to bypass the online portal aren't having any luck either. another tweeted i've still been calling edd since 8:00 a.m. today and still edd phones are down. debby scott of napa went on the site to begin certifying at 7:00 a.m. sunday morning. she tried into the night and again at 1:00 in the morning. >> you feel sick to your stomach thinking that, okay what if this is, what if this is it. what if i'm going to to to that bermuda triangle hole where there won't be any money until the summer. >> reporter: edd says it's trying to work to fix the issue. >> how many times do we have to be faced with another set of failures by the edd. >> reporter: he's demanding edd send him a report on all web outages in the last three months. >> we're going to find out
