san francisco man. he went to starbucks but he says he was treated differently because of the color of his skin and tonight to the company is apologizing. good evening. thank you for joining us. the customer says the incident happened at the startã starbucks in the allen rock neighborhood. julian glover has this extraã the story will only see on 7. >> he comes straight up to me, points out the door and says i need you outside. and at that moment, man. it is embarrassing. it is irritating, humiliating. >> reporter: starbucks apologizing to bryce ward after he says he was told to step outside the san jose location on mckie road while he waited for his order on march 15. he says a manager told him the store was at capacity per the restrictions, but he said other customers were allowed in the store. he told abc7news he believes he

was targeted because he was black. >> i was the only black in there. i do not know what was going through her mind. >> reporter: he took two instagram posting a video sharing his experience. >> it is sad and unfortunate how real scrimmage and still is. >> reporter: i received the following statement, we have no tolerance for discrimination of any kind in our stores and we never want the customer to feel discriminated against. we apologize to mr. ward for his experience, and have retrained staff on how to respectfully navigate capacity limits to protect the health and safety of partners and customers. i was also told by a spokesperson the company does not have video available of the incident. despite having security cameras at the store, his attorney is not buying it. >> how convenient that is that the key piece of evidence that would cooperate what took place here and would probably turn into a viral video once it was released, no one can seem to

races a part of the controversy surrounding the san francisco board of education. the group is meeting right now over one of its members. allison collins was accused of posting disparaging tweets towards the asian american community. the public is expected to weigh in on this. lee and melendez is live with developments. >> they just allow 20 minutes of public comment for those who were asking collins to resign, then 20 minutes for those who support her. you know, i think both sides agree this issue has become a huge distraction for the school board at a time when there is so much work to be done including of course, as we all know, reopening schools. collins has not issued an apology.she may, but she hasn't. >> reporter: several sources have confirmed that shortly after donald trump won the presidential election in 2016 a group of asian-american students in the afterschool program at francisco middle

the campus , in moments the highway patrol sheriff and other police agencies arrived on scene with lights, sirens, and s.w.a.t. teams, looking for that reported active shooter. they searched inside the building, outside, on the ground, and by error. >> don't panic. if you panic you are in trouble. >> reporter: the search lasted four hours with friends and family waiting outside the blocked entrance and communicating by text. inside, some students propped a bed belong the door. neil johnson took cover in the boiler room as the search continued. >> we saw a bunch of people walking around, a bunch of police officers with guns. >> i'm glad they got her. >> did you get her? >> that is what i am assuming. >> reporter: according to the chp there was no woman with a gun. the called up the search at about noon. as it turns out, there have

has not as people in napa county reacted to the notification early this morning that there was a potential mass shooting. queen of the valley medical center braced for a full scare ãscale mass casualty event when the got the notice. >> i was watching the news of the colorado shootings when we were notified that there was a potential active shooter incident in napa county. so that involves calling the blood bank, calling the operating room to make sure that we have operating rooms ready, clearing the er. >> reporter: for some it brought back vivid memories from three years ago, when the three healthcare staff at the veterans home were shot and killed by a veteran who had been expelled from the pathway home therapy program. it is a program that was shut down months later. back then it took law enforcement five hours to confirm the suspect committed suicide. there were questions swirling around how he could have entered state property. residents here told me they think the pandemic has actually helped tighten up security here

welcome back. a big step forward is three more bay area counties move into the next tier of reopening. san francisco, marin, and santa clara counties are in orange. they join san mateo county in the less restrictive tear. this allows bars that don't serve food to open out doors. restaurants can double their capacity and gyms and offices can increase indoor capacity up to 25%. san francisco's downtown should start coming back to life with these offices reopening. the mayor is enthusiastic but wants to remind people that they still need to do their part. we know there is work to do. we do not want to see another surge. that is why we are proceeding with caution in how we open. our museums were at and they're going to 50%. indoor dining was 25% and it is going to 50 and eventually when we get into yellow, office space will increase. we all still have a role to
