and upper 30s in santa rosa with 44 in pacifica. 46 in san carl it's colder in the north bay. by the afternoon we are well above average. by noon mid to upper 60s around oakland. how about pleasanton and at 4:00 in the 70s. most will be mild with low 60s. sunday is the warmer day for most. i will explain in talk about the first day of april when we see you in a few minutes. part of building a better bay area is your hyour hyour hyh would let you know how to get the covid-19 vaccine with a pop- up vaccination site opening at one of the san francisco underserved neighborhoods that opens at 9:30 at the shipshape community center on treasure island. treasure island has the lowest vaccination rates in the city of san francisco. volunteers are going door-to- door to get the word out. this is the first of three saturday clinic scheduled.

the bay area post covid office reopenings are finally getting underway with two biggest, facebook and oprah laying out plans to bring workers back to the office. is possible with bay area counties moving to the orange reopening tier. alameda and napa counties expect to make the jump on tuesday. this morning our abc7 news reporter luz pena explains the big changes if and when they return. >> reporter: after year of remote work oprah and facebook say it's time to get back to the office if you want to. >> the message they're sending is that the doors are open and it's your joy. >> reporter: workers temperatures grain on a daily basis before coming into the office with some amenities not provided like lunch and transportation. >> the google buses that used to run up and down the peninsula, how many people want to get on them and what is distancing going to be and can they operate them efficiently? as far as the free food, how will people feel about the cafeteria style meal.

>> reporter: it is a slow reopening process with facebook opening may 10 at 10% capacity at the menlo park offices. uber will open at 20% capacity monday with the mission bay offices. both company still have employees working from home. uber is located in the san francisco thriving city and only a few feet away are several businesses. only one is open in the gathering area. >> we want them back definitely. >> reporter: they are gearing up for monday, seeing uber open up gives them hope that the survival mode of the pandemic is almost over. >> i will bump up my staff a little bit and add a few more people, and we are ready. we have been ready and we are excited. it will be nice to have more buzz in the area. >> reporter: to understand the financial impact of the pandemic, the san francisco chamber of commerce is recording the data.

>> tracking foot traffic, businesses opening and closing, varies information to help us determine if we are recovering in the right way. obviously certain sectors improve faster than others with tourism maybe a little bit slower. >> reporter: they don't have a final count of how many businesses close permanently because of the pandemic but saying seeing uber reopen is sending a message to companies is time to come back. in san francisco, luz pena, abc7 news. new details released and how schools will handle the graduations last year. remember last year how different it was with drive- through and virtual ceremonies. the schools must allow two hours between ceremonies with seating assigned by household with six feet of space and face mask. they are advising against the hugs and handshaking but it's better than nothing. the health department updated the reopening guidelines for amusement parks like disneyland. in the orange tier parks must limit visitors to 25% capacity.

>> reporter: the problem is widespread in sonoma county and napa county meaning less water which means less production. the state warning growers of likely cutbacks and reserves that existed belowground are harder to reach. >> i've two wells that have gone dry. it's early in the year for a well to go dry. most of the wells around you're running out of water. i had to go 1000 feet deep to get water. if the drought continues next year, honestly i don't want to think about it. >> reporter: steve and his family have been growing grapes on the land since 1862. they have seen changes in the weather but the climate is a new one. >> almost april and a beautiful hot, sunny day. >> reporter: in sonoma county, wayne freedman, abc7 news . for the last two springs bright orange california poppies covered the hills but not this year unfortunately. it's unlikely the epic super plymouth fence that covered 1600 acres of the hillsides along the 15 freeway get a repeat in 2021. right now there are purple and

yellow flowers in but nothing compared to the past super blinds. we have only gotten just above four inches of rain leaving us with mostly dry brush. >> i took so many photos with the dog sitting in the middle of them and pictures of me sitting in the middle of them. >> thousands of people ascended on the area last spring in the spring before jamming traffic for miles prompting the city to shut down access. that is something that will not have to be done this year. that may be good but not good to be in this drought like condition with maybe just a little bit of rain. >> we are 20 inches behind in santa rosa so that little would do little for impact. we looking at a dry week ahead with temperatures above average for the weekend with a few 80s into sunday afternoon. we are also talking about the offshore flow and onshore flow, indicative of summer time

pattern. we could skip right over spring. that's not likely and we will get rain in april. extended outlook past 10 days, we could see maybe a little bit of help. on the doppler 7 we look at clear conditions. here is a look at carson valley, nevada with temperatures just below freezing with highs in the low 60s today. the snowpack looks or that in san francisco, 45 in oakland and 45 in mountain view with san jose at 47. morgan hill and half moon bay pretty chilly. the snowpack with clear skies for pretty start to the day with 37 at santa rosa and novato. 42 in napa with mid 40s in concord. finally at zephyr cove highs in the 50s. here's a beautiful shot where you can see that

the snowpack at about 60% of average. we continue to see dry conditions and near 60 in the mounds by early next week. looking at clear skies, cool mornings locally. the warming trend will continue this weekend with above average temperatures for march. april will arrive on thurson ths today mid to upper 60s from ocean beach to half moon bay with that cold ocean water. 72 in santa cruz, 60 in monterey. it's a nice day at the shoreline with upper 70s today at san jose. 75 at sunnyvale, wide 70s. upper 60s in san bruno as we look for the weak onshore flow today with mid 60s. a little stronger on sunday. today looks to be the milder day from pacifica to half moon bay. 76 at novato and 77 at calistoga. the warmth continues into oakland with low 70s and hayward about the same. san leandro 71. inland upper 70s and even warmer at the second half of

extremely thin and would not keep you warm at all. on one sweater when i put it down my hands almost felt greasy. that often indicates that the manufacturer used softeners but those will wash out in time. then you end up with something that does not feel luxurious at all. >> reporter: we bought leggings that were advertised as super thick, soft fleece lining made with real high-quality content cashmere. compare that with what we got. leggings with no lining and a lot of loose threads. >> it felt like rough cotton to me. they were not warm or thick. >> reporter: those look like little kids pants. >> i where a women small and could not get these past knees. >> reporter: we reached out to all companies and the maker of the cashmere sweater said the cashmere hooded sweater is made with grade a cacacacacaca woven yarn saying our products are durable and good care, especially for cashmere collection. they offered to send another

by 2:00 well into the 70s. oakland and hayward with 60s on the coast for a mild day at the shoreline. warmer tomorrow inland. will put it all together for you when we see you next. new this morning at least nine people were shot and two are dead following the shooting in virginia beach. it happened late last night. we know that an adult female died at the scene. the police said that a male suspect was shot and killed by an officer at a second location. several other people are in custody but it's unclear of their involvement in any of the shootings. we get to the nation vaccine watch hitting the stride at the best possible time. the cdc is reporting close to 3.5 million vaccine doses getting in the arms per day. this comes with at least 18 states seeing 10% rise in

cases. our abc news reporter has the latest. >> reporter: coronavirus cases are heading in the wrong direction with 18 states reporting increases in the last week and the cdc is now warning the number of patients admitted to the hospitals is rising too. it is up in eight states. >> if we don't control things now we have big potential for the epidemic curve to be soaring again. we can turn it around but it takes all of us working together. >> reporter: new jersey has one of the highest case rates per capita. in michigan a dramatic surge in younger unvaccinated patients in hospitals. >> the majority of patients we are seeing are between the ages of 30 and 50. it's a lasting roughly three weeks with a double in admissions. >> reporter: the cdc is urging americans to double down on a mask and get vaccinated as soon as possible three or a new record with 3.4 million in the arms with vaccinations yesterday. in texas one man desperately pleading for help for his wife.

>> blessed here and wait, wait for my wife to die? i don't know what to do. >> reporter: the mother of five is losing her fight with covid after the entire family, including their newborn daughter, contracted the virus. >> when you see your loved one on a bender later, literally like a lifeless on a ventilator in a coma, it breaks your heart. >> reporter: after so much heartache there is hope in a new study showing the moderna and pfizer vaccine likely safe for pregnant women with few side effects and likely transmit protective antibodies to the babies and this doctor lost her own mother to covid. the er physician was pregnant working on the frontline getting the pfizer vaccine in december. >> i'm grateful he was able to get the antibodies and that when i go back to work and has to go back to daycare he has that extra protection. i am very happy and grateful that i made this decision.

>> reporter: dr. fauci said a new study involving college students is the key to determining whether people that are vaccinated can get the asymptomatic infection, and whether they can transmit the disease. will have to wait up to five months as they tracked those students to get the answers. abc news new jersey. developing news at the border, and handling the humanitarian crisis there congressional democrats and republicans just finished taking two separate border tours and left worlds apart on finding a solution. democrats toward the health and human services facility yesterday housing migrants and said they were satisfied with conditions but said that more has to be done to ease the complex problems about crossings. east bay congresswoman barbara lee was there. >> this is a mission of believe, what we have to do,

no matter how you slice it the past year under the pandemic has not been easy for businesses. a south bay woman known for her homemade pies finds sweet success finally opening up her very own storefront entails our abc7 news reporter amanda dale cecilio. >> reporter: we introduced you to voahangy rasetarinera on day in 2019 and the former admin turning out homemade pies from her kitchen. wanting to expand her business she set out for the storefront of her own. >> it was the day right before we shut down. >> reporter: voahangy rasetarinera landed at this location but the rent and ever- changing reopening guidelines, construction costs and usual corporate customers were all impacted by covid-19. >> i was like oh my gosh, how can we make it.

in san jose with upper 30s. the cold started half moon bay with 36 degrees. mount tam is the typical spot in the north bay, 37 at santa rosa and 36 at novato with napa at 42. upper elevation in north wind allowing for more conditions in some pockets of the bay area. 45 in concord and 40 in livermore. a 24 hour temperature change with some areas in the north bay cold and 16 degrees colder in novato, 10 degrees colder in napa, 2 degrees warmer in the east bay. the north wind from 18 miles an hour at mt. diablo, to 28 mile an hour wind gusts. we are looking at the north wind allowing some of that to mix. where the wind is flat and calm certainly dropping into the 30s. here is a look at san jose and the south bay warming above average. clear skies with a chilly start and warming trend for everyone well above average for march. we have a few days left in

march. along the coast mid to upper 60s today with 69 in half moon bay. 72 in santa cruz. chilly ocean water temperatures as we returned to the stronger onshore flow on sunday. beach side communities cooler on sunday. let's take you out into april where things look a little bit more promising for perhaps a change in the weather pattern. a cool system will be heading our way but a dry cold front on monday allowing for the wind shift, gusty offshore wind. no rain as we get into the middle of the week on wednesday with that ridge rebuilding. we are warm again with dry temperatures rebounding into the upper 70s. it's pretty much the same deal on thursday. look what happens in the saturday with that weather system to the north and west of us that could slip to the south allowing maybe for a little bit

of precipitation into san francisco. even if this does not happen the indications are that the pattern is changing. that could be good news, if not for the upcoming weekend perhaps as we get into next week. the system pattern looks to change somewhat. here is sunday april 4. we are looking at easter as we get into april. we should see 1.4 to 6 inches of rain in san francisco for the month of april. we are certainly looking for wet weather in the next 10 days or so. south bay looking at 77 in santa clara, 75 in cupertino. redwood city at 75, 65 at san bruno. 69 in downtown area.downtown ar. 76 in novato with 75 in sonoma. low 70s in oakland and 74 at union city. inland it should be warm afternoon with concord and 78, 76 in pleasanton.
