that i have dealt with and talked with like my friends, they don't realize that people live here.>> reporter: this week volunteers knocked on just about every door telling the residents about the vaccine opportunity. 3000 people live here and just 14% of been vaccinated. it is one of the lowest rates in san francisco. this supervisor advocated for this site and said treasure island is an underserved community and often overlooked the city. >> people have technology barriers and language barriers. they may not have transportation. >> i don't like going into the city. >> reporter: california has prioritized treasure island for equitable vaccine access. a big turnout saturday for 150 doses. the clinic will be back for the next two saturdays and second doses are scheduled. >> come back here the 24th.>> reporter: she has lived here 17

years. this means and you start. >> i'm feeling happy and safe and it's a shot of life for everyone here. >> reporter: reporting from treasure island, ab 77 news. you may have noticed more traffic on foot and by car. the toll plaza has seen a steady stream of traffic all day. saturday afternoon is usually a busy time on the bridge, but things almost pre-pandemic at times. the warm weather is picking out the crowds. this includes peer 39 in san francisco. health officials remind everyone that masking and social distancing are important. >> cases of covid-19 are on the rise in 22 states. health officials urging americans to be patient hoping to ward off another rave. we have more on the renewed push to follow the public health guidelines. >> reporter: health officials express concern over a potential surge in cases even as millions of americans get

vaccinated. >> we might start to see a resurgence of cases. this would be unfortunate. if we could hold on a bit longer, we can get a lot more people vaccinated which would make the search less likely. reporter: 22 states are reporting increases and the cdc urged americans to continue to follow public health measures like wearing a mask and social distancing. >> it has been a long year. it will take a while longer. >> reporter: the distribution continues to ramp up. johnson & johnson is on track to deliver 20 million doses by the end of march. 11 million will go out next week. president biden now doubling the vaccination goal. >> 200 million shots in 100 days.>> reporter: 47 states will expand eligibility making the vaccine available to everyone over the age of 16. after the california governor expanded eligibility healthcare workers are looking to bring

outside san francisco city hall. 100 people took part in the event. organizers say they've had enough and people are living in fear. >> too much violence and robberies. elderly, women, children. families are in fear of walking on the streets now. we don't feel safe anymore. >> reporter: after the rally the group took to the streets for a march. the one at union square for another rally. these community members want their voices to be heard and they gathered at city hall to protest racism against asian- americans. the mayor joint mayors from other southbay cities to show

power shut off may have prevented wildfires burning more than 3 million acres in 2019 according to a new analysis. a from contracted by the state utility regulators said the shut off may have stopped 250,000 buildings from burning. the company combined data about that vegetation and building locations and wind damage to determine the number of people in 30 norther california counties were without power during the shut off. some developing news. the massive container ship blocking the waterway could be free as soon as tonight. a pilot at the suez now that the combination of high tide and powerful tugboats could be the key to dislodging this ship. the ship got stuck tuesday after being caught in a powerful sandstorm. right now 300 cargo ships are caught in a traffic jam costing

no matter what you are doing it is warm and this pattern several times the next several days. a live look from the bay hills looking out a cloud to be seen in baby blue skies and a lot of sunshine. the sunshine has been efficient at warming us up quickly today. we are at 66 degrees. oakland is warm today in the east bay 71. mind you, this time of year we should be in the upper 50s to low 60s. these numbers are well above average for late march. 75 in morgan hill. half moon bay has cooled off to 57. from santa cruz, popular on a day like this. remember, uv index running i will put on screen. it is warm across the board.

santa rosa, mid to upper 70s 80 in fairfield today. 79 in concord under this weather pattern it is dry, warm and sunny and tree pollen is going to be your worst enemy. it will fluctuate between high levels and continue to take your allergy medication because monday throughwednesday the alter, ash and juniper are blooming this time of year. in terms of air quality it looks great and then it will stay that way tomorrow, monday and tuesday. good fresh air the next three days. tonight fog will develop along the immediate coast line. elsewhere clear skies. the numbers will fall into the 40s, maybe a couple of 30s in the north bay. high pressure offered up the coast line. it will sit there again tomorrow and warm us up.

now, a stray dog's passion for purple unicorns has changed his life. he repeatedly sneak into this store following a customer and steel a purple unicorn. this story went viral. the store called animal services and the officer bought him the stock unicorn. now he and his purple pal have found a brand-new home. i'm glad everyone is together. now under one roof. that's all the time we have. i'm dion lim.
