it's not a very fast wind, but it's enough that it will keep pushing itself. we will keep an eye on this and eventually the san francisco bay and see if it move that far south before dissipating, of course, right after the morning commute. look at these temperatures this afternoon. 58 at half moon bay, and upper 60s in san francisco and oakland, san mateo, palo alto. 70 around fremont and richmond, low to average, just not quite as warm as it was thursday and wednesday, possibly even warmer. i will see you in a bit with that, reggie? thank you. we are about an hour away from one of the biggest trials in recent memory. opening statements began this morning. the former minneapolis police officer is charged with killing george floyd last memorial day. at the live desk with what we can expect with this month-long trial. >> this may be one of the largest social movements in u.s. history. 10 months later, former police officer derek chauvin will stand trial. he was seen on video kneeling

on floyd's neck as he lay on the street facedown for nearly 10 minutes. derek chauvin faces manslaughter and second and 3rd degree murder charges. not guil all of them. abc news chief legal analyst dan abrams talked about what each side will argue on gma today. >> prosecutors are clearly going to focus on the videos and the videos. they are going to say, this wasn't just a violation of police protocol. they are going to say this was in an intentional salon assault on george floyd. the defense will focus on something almost completely different here. he will say, look at what was in his system. sentinel, other drugs. will talk about his underlying heart condition. >> extreme measures are being taken to keep this trial covid safe. the entire courtroom has been modeled to ensure social distancing. that includes spacing of the jury and installing plexiglass petitions. only a few people will be allowed inside to witness the trial, including one member of

red deer to the orange here. you see that san francisco, marin, santa clara county, and san mateo are now in the orange tier , so that allows more businesses to reopen with restrictions and increases indoor capacity limits. a major forward in reopening schools. their opening for elementaries five days a week. abc7 reporter is joining us live from coleman elementary school with what this means for distance learning, matt? >> reporter: well, kumasi, for students experiencing that zoom fatigue, that will become a thing of the past as they move away from distance learning and they bring students back to campus five days a week for pretty much all saelemta scdog some form of in person hybrid learning since november, when they moved to that model, dividing students into cohorts with afternoon and the mornings dividing it between in-person

instructn, without any s of dian learninge afternoon. superintendent jim says the district has not had any campus coronavirus transmissions so far. they still plan to comply with all cdc recommended safety guidelines, and they plan to have the desks spaced at least four feet apart. in the cases where that is not possible, classes will be held in libraries and other large rooms on campus. in total, that is about 2700 students making the transition. however, about 10% of students who opted out will still be able to learabout school students in the area, they actually transition finally to an in person hybrid model earlier this month. but for now, they are going to stick to that model, because the secondary schools haven't been able to get as far in this

if you look off in the distance, you can almost make out the red flashing light there. that is the emergency crew that is on the scene. is at least one lane blocked right now. because of that crash, metering lights came on at the day bridge, much earlier than usual at 5:58. the other thing i want mention, fog in the north bay. if you are traveling along 101, especially through nevada, marin wood and san rafael, heads up on that low visibility. also happening today, enforcement officers will be stepping up patrols on market street. market street went car free along the two-mile stretch, between the embarcadero and dennis avenue. a few months before the pandemic, that means no private vehicles, including rideshare or food delivery drivers this week. you can expect a warning if you break the rule, but eventually, officers will be issuing tickets, reggie? >> we've been warned, thanks, jobina. dianne feinstein is now the longest-serving ate y. -year-old has been in office for more than 10,300 days. that breaks the record, set back in the 1940s. feinstein has said she is committed to serving out the

in the south bay, a historic apartment building is putting down roots avenue address. abc7 was in san jose as the cruise moved the apartment yesterday. you could see the building on this big dolly, about 900 feet away to the new home. now it's located at the corner of fourth and reed street. habitat for humanity plans to refurbish the 111-year-old building and converted into affordable housing. one woman says it was worth the trip from menlo park to see this happen. >> it's a wonderful thing on all sorts of levels, preserving our wonderful old building, it is going to go to good use. everybody got together to work this out. it's just a win, win, win. >> this time-lapse video shows the building being backed into its new lot. the whole process took about three hours. san francisco says we are going to move a house and san jose says we are going to move a whole apartment building, now what? >> i will

rafael for pre-k through fourth grade students, their first monday back on campus in school since the ic began more than a year ago. san rafael elementary school district has had some form of in person hybrid learning since last november. that is when amp m model, where one cohort would come to school four days a week in the morning, then do distance learning in the afternoon, while another group did the opposite. this new schedule gets rid of any of that asynchronous learning, and will have students on campus for 4 1/2 hours a day. not as much as normal times, but still more than they had before. there will be some distance learning for extracurricular courses, like art and music. about one 2700 students will be making this transition, about 10% of the student body will remain at home, during distance learning. the district says, desks will be spaced about four feet apart. classes will have

a southern california amusement park is reopening this week. six flags, magic mountain, will be reopening on thursday. people who enter the park will have to have their temperatures checked and if you have a high temperature, you have to go through a secondary screening, where emts will assess you. guest will also be separated by physical distancing markers, and you have to wear a mask at all times. the park will only be open at 15% capacity. six flags discoveredags discovei layhill will also open thursday. to develop and on plans to bring ck san diego co ey havanu
