officials are ready to begin vaccinating everyone 16 and up. the county with the second bay area county to expand eligibility 250 and older one week ago and vaccinate 100,000 people in a matter of days. some 45% of the county's 1.2 million residents have received at least one shot. this comes as a new mac vaccination side opened up in concorde. leslie brinkley joins us us us rapidly changing covid vaccine landscape here in contra costa county. last week they opened it up to 50 and up. this week today, this morning, opening it up to every adult 16 and up. i am here on waterworld parkway. this is the entrance to a new mass vaccine side of what used to be waterworld. contra costa county has shots and slots open. they are still prioritizing older age groups groups groups communities.

as of today, as you mentioned, they have already vaccinated 44% of adult 16 the county is making it available now for those 16 and over with basically no restrictions to get vaccinated. >> we have the doses and we want you to sign up. >> as you hurt,you hurt,you hur, opening 16 and up to request an appointment. the county wants you to do that online. contra costa on their website that is what they prefer you to do is lock on on your website

and make an appointment. the second option would be to call a phone phone phone phone leslie, thank you. in order for them to do this clearly they already have a lot of adults vaccinated. 44% of adults in the county have gotten at least one vaccine. that is a remarkable number. how is that possible?that possi? >> well, they have really ramped up the infrastructure here. they have done everything they could to increase their supply with 11 clinics that they have established and hard-hit neighborhoods. they have been able to qualify for a big supply of federal vaccine and they have been getting a flow of vaccine from a state. the said for people who are residents in contra costa county seeking a vaccine to be

very patient when you log on the website and make a phone call it through. think of it as getting in line and register with the county on that phone line on the website. it means you are basically getting in line. the longer you wait to get in line, the longer the line is likely to get. they are suggesting people get on there as soon as possible to eventually reserve a spot in the next few weeks to get there first vaccine. a tale of two counties. for many, the search for a covid-19 vaccine continues to come up short. health officials don't want us to forget there are some alternative ways to get we have moore from san jose. we know searching for a vaccine has been anything but easy. most of us have struggled to secure an appointment even as california prepares to expand

eligibility in the coming days. >> it is good to continue checking websites for the appointments. they come up periodically. they may not be there today but there may be some tomorrow.someo many people are only exploring county run vaccination sites creating a bottleneck of sorts when they could be looking at other options. >> for this week 32,000 doses that can be used for first appointments. most of those have been taken already. >> retail pharmacy such as walgreens, cvs, safeway and others get their allocation from the federal government. those appointments can be found online but if you haven't searched before, you will need to create a profile. >> the threat is very real. right now, the sunshine is shining on california but the clouds of the east coast, the midwest, specifically michigan over florida already shuts down much of europe. we can do something about it.

formal training and this is what you say is a comp? to me that was definitely some discrimination going on. >> is that i don't like it so let me give you the bottom of the barrel as a comp versus something truly comparable, the size, the 80 you, the lot size. >> they tell me the appraiser did not budge in the evaluation and the lenders sided with the appraiser. that is when the unexpected happened. three months into the refinance process the mortgage broker advised them to pull out and go to a different lender. the broker would pay for the new appraisal. >> one month later it came back and it was 730,000. it is almost $140,000 different. >> the biggest difference are the comparable homes listed to determine the value. the six homes surveyed in the 2020 appraisal average $591,000 in value when adjusted versus the six homes surveyed in the

final appraisal averaging $703,000. the in law suite was valued $20,000. they believe the report showed the appraiser in question had implicit biases about the value of homes in east oakland, an area that is predominantly black and latino. it is a systemic issue that can affect the value of entire neighborhoods over time. >> do any of those stand out as potential solutions? >> david acknowledged this in a recent interview. >> if years ago a particular property was appraised at a lower level because of the color of the skin of whoever owned it, you compound that over the years and these are appraisals that then can get baked in whether someone knows it or not. >> the not join the list of families i have interviewed with similar claims of racially biased appraisals and call for elected representatives to take action. >> we have a community of other people that have been through it we can work together.
