marine layer, getting closer and closer to the coast today. but that's later today. right now we still have a light offshore breeze, and plenty of clear conditions. 70s along the coast. you'll be cool today with low to upper 80s. 81 in san francisco. mid- to upper80s inland. you can see asterisks out there once again. those are record high temperatures. big changes in the temperatures for the weekend coming up in the seven-day forecast. another mass shooting in america. this is the third such shooting in just three weeks. this time it happened in southern california. four people are dead, including a child. and a woman was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. at the live desk with the overnight developments. >> reporter: police say the suspect is in custody after being shot by officers. the shooting started around 5:30 last night at a building complex in the city of orange,

about three miles north of santa ana. officials say the shooter was still firing when officers arrived. others say they hehe gunfire in burst. >> i'm just trying to find out his well-being. he's not answering his phone. neither is my niece. i'm pretty scared and worried. i wish i knew more. i don't know. right now i'm just praying really hard. >> the names and ages of the victims have not been released. police are planning to update the public at 7:00 a.m. for a briefing. >> thank you. more witnesses are expected to testify today in the trial for the former police officer charged with killing george floyd. yesterday for the very first time we saw surveillance video of floyd inside the convenience store, just moments before the

deadly encounter with officer derek chauvin. jurors also saw a clip officer chauvin's body cam. emotions were running high with two witnesses sobbing on the stand. pfizer followed up with participants of its clinical trial six months after they received their second dose. at that point, the vaccine remains 91% affective. it was 95% affective at preventing severe covid-19, and it was 100% affective against the emergent from south africa. pfizer says it will request full approval from the fda. millions more californians are now eligible for that covid- 19 vaccine today. anyone over age 50 can now try

to make an appointment.úit's a people across the state. governor newsom is among those. he's 53. he plans to get the johnson & johnson vaccine in l.a. this morning. going ahead, anyone 16 and older will be able to make an appointment in two weeks. contra costa county is vaccinating all adults now. many older and at risk californians are still waiting to get the vaccine, even though they became eligible weeks ago. kate larsen is part of our vaccine team, and she explains why it's been so challenging. >> san francisco resident, anthony rodey has pages of notes, documenting the hours of effort he's put into finding a covid vaccine. anthony just turned 16, and has been living with aides for 25 years. >> i found out the hard way

that being eligible isn't the same as being vaccinated. it's just stress. i don't need the stress. >> reporter: now with eligibility expanding, many california doctors are concerned that stories like anthony's will become more common. >> i'm a little frustrated. yes. i think if we knew for certain, we were getting a great deal more vaccine, it would make more sense to me. >> reporter: she's on the state committee that drafted the vaccine priority groups, but the work group was disbanded this week. aaronson says, without being consulted about the new eligibility timeline. >> it reminds me a little of when we had said it was 75 and up, and the governor said it was 65 and up. that meant the people at the highest risk, some of them had to wait a little longer. there is, as always with politics, a tension between pleasing people, which includes for economic reasons, and just for maybe you're facing a recall. >> reporter: the california

department of public health tells abc7, that because president biden asked that all americans be eligible by may 1st, it ended the committee's work. cdp says they also expect a large influx of vaccines with 2.5 million doses weekly in april, and later, more than 3 million doses. anthony did get signed up for a vaccine at moscone. >> i'll believe it when i see it. if nothing goes wrong, i'll be there on friday. >> reporter: this is some tough advice, just because you may be eligible for the vaccine doesn't mean you should go and get it. she suggests people who are young, healthy, and still working from home to hang on a little longer to make sure those who need the vaccine most have access. in the newsroom, i'm kate larsen, back to you. community leaders in fremont say residents have done a great job to

today, except for along the coast into san francisco, where a sea breeze will develop this afternoon. the rest of us are in the mid- to upper 80s. i'll let you know when that cooler weather gets to your neighborhood, coming up in the seven-day forecast inch johnson and johnson is promising to still meet it goal of 119 million vaccine doses by the end of june, despite a major mix up. according to the "new york times," employees manufacturing and agreement used in the vaccine confused the ingredients several weeks ago. that mistake contaminated up to 15 million doses. j and j stresses, they never made it to the final area the vaccine. the mix up doesn't impact any doses that have already been shipped. however, future shipments have been delayed while the fda investigates. starting today, more people will be eligible for the covid- 19 vaccine, so anybody over the

age of 50 can now get vaccinated. however, making an appointment may still seem like a monumental effort. the lengths that people are going to receive their shots. >> so today there is a potential for 7 million more people to enter the vaccine cube. this has some going on a journey. while it's not common, people are tracking pharmacy websites and waiting for appointments to open up, even if they're hundreds of miles away, places like cvs will take anyone from anywhere. >> if they're able to go online and register, they're able to. >> i know some neighbors that are going to arizona to get theirs. >> why do they have to go to arizona? because they couldn't get it in california? >> they couldn't, i guess. and they have friends there, so it's kind of a dual trip. >> a few sites are checking to make sure people are being

truthful about where they live. a health official we spoke with in contra costa county, says they are trusting people to be honest. nearly one in four adults in the north bay say they're hesitant about getting a vaccination. this according to a survey by the bay area council. 23% of respondents say they're vaccine hesitant. that includes sonoma, napa, and marin counties. elsewhere, there are lower levels of opposition. 16% hesitant in contra costa county. you go to san francisco county, and it's very low. only 7% saying they're hesitant to get the shot. first lady jill biden is urging california farm workers to get vaccinated. yesterday on cesar chavez day, she met with leaders of the united farm board. she discussed president biden's work on overhauling immigration policy by creating fair

pathways to citizenship. >> we can, and we must find hope in each other. today, the legacy of cesar chavez lives on in so many ways. >> the first lady finished the day by hosting a vaccine drive with the united farm workers of america, and about 250 people were able to be vaccinated. happening today, president biden will convene his first cabinet meeting. that's a presidential rite of passage that will be used to promote his new infrastructure plan. the full cabinet will be assembled in the east room to allow for social distancing. the timing was deliberate. a week after the first cabinet was confirmed, and a day after biden introduced that infrastructure plan.

kamala harris and second man, doug imhof'em hof will will be in california. facing backlash for weeks now over some resurfaced 2016 tweets that some feel are racist. now she is seeking millions of dollars in damage. abc7 news reporter was at a rally where collins spoke to a crowd of supporters. >> reporter: alison collins. last week she was accused of racist tweets back in 2016. wednesday evening she fired back. >> so much of who i am, and how i am in this world has gotten lost due to this targeted smear to label me as a racist. >> reporter: in 2016, collins, who is african american, had numerous tweets directed at

asian-americans. one saying that asian-americans in her words used white supremacist thinking to assimilate and get ahead. she has since said they were taken out of context, but did not address that on wednesday, firing forward instead. >> i will un apologetically pursue equity of black, latinx and asian communities. >> reporter: in a lawsuit also filed wednesday, collins is suing the district and five board members who voted to strip her of her vice president involvement. her lawsuit questions that move, and goes on to say that it is a violation of her freedom of speech, as the tweets were made before she was voted to the board. she now seeks $87 million in damages while many spoke to support her wednesday outside the district headquarters, she was interrupted by a man yelling resign, to which the

precautions they have there. >> reporter: good morning, reggie. something people have been waiting a long time for, and i think they'll be willing to play along with all the different safety measures put in place. the parking lot will open 90 minutes before the game starts at 7:07. the a's hosting the houston astros. the first thing you'll notice is there's no tailgating this year. inside the stadium, they've also been working on making it as safe as possible. one of the big changes is this year there won't be any standing in line at the concession stands. now everyone will be able to order their food through an app, and have it brought to them in the stands. all transactions will be cashless. fans will be seated in socially distance pods of 2 or 4. but the goal, of course, is just to be able to have fun and enjoy a day in the ballpark. >> obviously, the energy and excitement that they bring to our players, to our sport, is just so amazing. >> reporter: if you can't get in for opening day, the a's are
