johnson is testing their vaccine on kids. that will initially start with a small group of 17-year-olds. moderna and pfizer are also testing their vaccines on kids. just this week pfizer announced data shows its vaccine is safe for kids as young as 12. the fda has not yet authorized it for anyone under 16. a new permanent vaccination site is opening in east palo alto. abc 7 news reporter matt is live with at cesar chavez middle school. good morning, matt. >> good morning. yeah, according to the county this area east palo alto only has a vaccination rate of about 27% right now. compare that to the overall vaccination rate in san mateo

county of about 45%. now it is taking place in the parking lot here at cesar chavez middle school in east palo alto. it will be the first vaccine site in the county to offer the johnson & johnson vaccine which as we know requires only one dose fore going the need to make follow up appointments. it is also the first site that will move eligibility to include those 18 and over. however you must be a resident in the area. it is designed for people without access to health insurance including undocumented immigrants. east palo alto city council member antonio lopez and council member jones will be out here later today to open this site. that will happen at 10:00 a.m. of course the plan is to create a permanent site out here -- well as long as the vaccine is needed and to help increase the vaccination rates in this part of the bay area.

at least 48 people are dead and dozens are injured after high speed train crashed into a truck in eastern taiwan. nearly 400 people were on board. survivors climbed out of windows from each carriage and walked to safety ton roof of the train. officials said the truck slid from a construction side on a hillside above on to the tracks below. the crash is taiwan's deadliest rail way disaster. it coincided with the beginning of a long holiday week. it is day five of the trial for the former minneapolis police officer accused in the death of george floyd. we are hearing from the here is kenneth.
