weather. its been nice and sunny. not as warm as it looks out there as those winds have been an issue. here is live doppler 7 where we don't have much cloud cover. we are looking at some gusty winds along the coast right now. half moon bay and up through the peninsula. we will continue to see that throughout the afternoon. we are two to five degrees colder from san mateo to ma it's 41 in redwood city. we have fog. 46 downtown. 36 in santa rosa and look at that. the sun coming up. 6:41. 13 hours of daylight. numbers in the 60's inland by noontime. we are still in the upper 50's. near 60 around the bay. it'll be a cool day again for our friends at the coast. if you are going to the beach, bundle up. upper 6o's around the bay. low to mid-70s inland. a detailed look at a less windy sunday coming up. in just five days

california is expanding vaccinations for everybody 16 and older. as we said the city of san francisco is getting ahead of the state and is starting to vaccinate that population already. you need to live in one of seven neighborhoods that the city has chosen. what the city based their decision on for this expansion. >> 46% of san francisco residents have been vaccinated so far. as the april 15th date approaches, when everybody in the state 16 and older qualifies to get vaccinated. san francisco wanted to give seven neighborhoods a head start. >> we wanted to ensure that there is equal access and in fact priority access. >> under san francisco's department of public health deputy director said that they know there will be a big rush on thursday and didn't necessarily have to wait on the state. >> the state of california has

provided discretion to those providers serving high impact areas on who to vaccinate. >> several weeks ago a letter was signed with 20 leg you'res urging state officials to change the vaccine strategy. they are glad san francisco is getting a head start and that the state is listening. >> since then the governor has committed almost $8 million to the bay area to increase vaccination access. >> 152 people were vaccinated at this community hub. they are glad that the city made the expansion but said there is a big need for more community hubs like this one. >> because with these particular sites you can have that conversation. you can answer the questions. >> and supply is what's concerning san francisco's dph. this week they received 16,000 doses of the vaccine. next week that will go down to 10,000. >> with in the next, you know,

ten days to 14 days the hope is there will be enough vaccine. if you live in one much these neighborhoods you can go to san francisco general or southeast health from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. p.m. and get vaccinated. if you are 16 you will need to go with a parent or guardian. in san francisco. abc7 news. and berkeley also announced that first dose vaccination appointments are now available for berkeley or alameda county resident who are at least 16 years old. california though is warning of another vaccine supply shortage in the coming weeks. they are saying that next week's delivery will be short 15%. 2.4million doses were expected but california will only get two million. another 5% drop is expected the week after that. health care providers say the news is disappointing because they have been told vaccine deliveries would only grow, not shrink. >> disappointing because we have been told for many months

that don't worry. by mid-april you will have as much vaccine as you need. that is not the case. >> an estimated 18 million have not yet received their first shot. on the peninsula facebook is converting part of its head quarters in to a vaccination clinic for under served communities. they will give the vacant seems starting this morning. the goal for the next month is to vaccinate 5,000 people who live or work in the communities of east palo alto. facebook also plans to offer transportation to and from its campus for people who want to get vaccinated. >> it's a good way of demonstrating that all people are valuable and facebook sees that and believes in it and is put a lot of effort. >> appointments must be made through ravenswood. many haing today a free rotating pop up event make its its way into alameda county. the health group is giving out

shots at the bay area bart station from san leandro from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. it is part of the county's goal to provide vaccines in under served neighborhoods. there's the moderna second shot for those who had the first and the johnson and johnson single shot. no insurance needed. just sign up first. the fda said it'll look at a request for emergency authorization to vaccinate young people ages 12 to 15 as quickly as possible. the giant highlighted recent clinical trial that found it's safe and 100% effective for the age group. >> that's good news. it means we should be able to have a vaccine for 12 to 15- year-old's. very shortly. i'm thinking weeks at the most. >> the agency currently allows the vaccine's use in people 16 and up. and to see how progress -- how much progress california is making with the vaccines you

can always go to abc7 news.com slash vaccine. that's where you will find the vaccine tracker and a place where you can submit your questions all at abc7 news. in the south bay keeping karasch way after coronavirus that is the goal for a group of restaurant ownerns along san pedro street in downtown san jose. owners are asking city leaders to consider making the popular stretch between santa clara and saint john, car free permanently. >> it could be some time before visitors catch another vehicle along this stretch of san pedro street in downtown san jose. restaurant ownerns here are pushing the city to pump the brakes on car traffic so businesses can continue outdoor service in the street permanently post pandemic. >> we don't need to get back to 100%. we need to get back to 150% for many, many years just to recoup all the losses that we have had. >> randy said that he and other restaurant ownerns have

done a number of pilot studies finding interests in what he calls an urban feel. in this case a pedestrian mall of sorts. >> a high-rise, residential. all the corporate and the restaurants this is what downtown san jose needs. >> before any decision is made the department of transportation said there's much to consider. for instance the type of closure that would be most appropriate. impacts to surrounding traffic and more. he said the idea is still young. >> it would be a significant change to the downtown street network. it would require funding and we don't have any funding in the budget. >> a 1200 space structure in the middle of san pedro. he said that prepandemic is supported large community events. >> when we get back to precoronavirus levels of traffic and business for that part of downtown, we may see some significant demand on that garage that we would have to

dealw. >> traffic issues won't detour business ownerns looking for a more permanent solution. a stable set up they believe will benefit the downtown core. in san jose, abc7 news. and san francisco giants fans are thrilled to be able to attend games this season. so are the businesses near oracle park. the scene in south of market looked more like prepandemic times. bars were back open. the dug out store was in business and street vendors were out and about it. was a good day for the many people who depend on a busy ballpark to earn a living. ist it's really good. you see -- people that used to come out from a couple years ago that i still see today that we are -- you know welcome each other back. it's good. >> fans did not seem to mind the strict protocols in place to be able to get in to the ballpark to see their team play. they had to show a negative test or proof of being fully vaccinated. >> we have to see to

excited to see the same thing we are. >> capacity is limitelimite or about 9,000 fans a game. and fans won't hear the sound of food hawkers. all concessions must be purchased on the mlb ballpark app. the giants say some food and beer options will be absent this year but fans can expect the signature garlic fries and the sausages will be there. pick up location also be in your seating zone and you can only eat at your ticketed seat. outside food is allowed but for alcohol. that sounds so fun to go back to a game and feels good that we are finally getting back in the swing of things. >> those garlic fries. i would go just for that. good morning. we are in the 50's now and sfo reporting some gusty winds. we will not get rid of that totally but it'll be warmer

i'm really excited. >> on thursday, she toured her early education center. on monday, she will question greeting fellow students in a safer, coronavirus way. >> raise the roof, give an air hug. blow a kiss. a hand on your [inaudible]. >> it's exciting to know that off the staff are vaccinated. >> 11 early education sites will reopen on monday, so will these 22 schools, only prek through second grade. if your child's school is not on this list, it means they will start one week later. by april 26th, every student through 5th grade will be on campuses throughout the district. five days a week. >> by the end of april, we will likely have 107 schools open with an estimated 22,000 students returning to in person learning. >> distance learning is still an option for families. middle and high schools will

remain closed but are expected to reopen in the fall. we toured bryant elementary in the mission district where the principal said that classrooms had to be redesigned. on monday, parents will not be allowed inside the schools. instead kids will be topped off. lunches will be served in the classrooms or outside. >> we don't have any doubt that our schools are ready to open in a safe and caring and loving way. >> in san francisco, abc7 news. >> and in the north bay san marin will play it's final game under its field lights tonight. we reported about litigation between the school district and neighbors who called for an end to the lights this claim the lights which were installed in 2018 created too much light pollution. the mari n ij reports they agreed to use them for one last game. >> no more friday night lights there. happening tonight the

will be with us again today up to 35 miles an hour. that will keep us just in the 50's at the coast. elsewhere we are warming in to the 70's today. here is the camera. this side of the city will be mild. we will see 60's here. sunny weekend for everybody wither weather away from the coast. we mr. see the lighter winds continue into sunday. that dry pattern also continues, some lie clouds coming in from the west. here is a look at today. the rest of day, 11:30 and then in to the evening early sunday. few high clouds, really not much there and as we look at the temperatures for your saturday. along the coast you know that you will need the jacket with just 58 half moon bay. 59 ocean beach and not even 50 degrees for the ocean water temperatures. down around santa cruz. it's warmer into the upper 60's but we will look for temperatures around the bay to be near average today. in fact a few degrees above average as we get into the

70's. parts of the south bay. we should be in the upper 60's. 71 san jose. sunnyvale 68 on the peninsula. midand upper 60's. breezy winds, not as windy as yesterday. still in the 50's here from the sunset. 64 downtown. that's warmer on of the city. you notice those colors coming in to play that indicates the warmer air. still a little on the cool side but beautiful day here in san leandro. newark 67 and we have those mid, maybe a few upper 70's from pittsburgh and antioch today. a milder afternoon for everybody. away from the coast. 50's there and as we warm up inland on sunday that should be the warmer day of week as we will start to taper off inland with breezy winds in to play throughout the middle of the week. mainly upper elevations. the rain is around the state

here from the east bay hills camera. that marine stratus has made its way to parts of the east bay. it is 46 in san francisco, 48 in oakland. 42 in mountain view, san jose. checking in 47 morgan hill and fog on the san mateo coast. look at the golden gate bridge. it is clear. no wind there and that's why numbers have dropped to the mid- 30s's up in santa rose a.35nevado. looking at 48 in concord. there's the fog. quarter mile visibility napa. three miles santa rosa. five miles on the coast. as we get toward 9:00 it's sunny. the winds will blow fast along the coast. up to 35 miles an hour. despite that we will be warmer today around the bay. 2:00. mid-60s's. mid-70s into play and warmer than that in the late afternoon. we will detail the rest of the weekend coming up. >> all right. thank you. this morning there's a troubling increase in the

hospital with an infection. how the uk is remembering him. >> the world is marking the death of prince phillip. husband to the queen for 73 years. he passed away on friday morning at the royal family home of windsor castle. the palace nouning the news lowering its flags to half staff, releasing a statement saying it's with deep sorrow that the queen announced the death of her husband. he pass away peacefully at windsor castle. the family joined with people around the world in mourning his loss. a statement from the president paid tribute to his life of duty. from his service during world war ii to his 73 years alongside the queen and his entire life in the public eye he gladly dedicated himself to the people of the uk, the commonwealth and to his family.
