another island. >> back in britain. prince harry back in london. his potential role in the funeral. >> history at the maesers. the unlikely winner and big losses for those who placed bets on the result. >> the home explosion caught on camera in california. from abc news in new york. this is "america this morning." good monday morning. we begin with the breaking news. protests erupting in the minneapolis area over night after police fatally shot a black man during a traffic stop. >> the mayor of the imposed a curfew of 6:00 a.m. because of growing civil unrest. protesters surrounded police headquarters. >> miles from where george floyd was killed last year. all of this now raising tension with the trial of former minneapolis police officer chauvin set to resume today.

>> this morning a deadly police involved shooting sparking tension. not far from former minneapolis police officer on trial for the death of george floyd. last night in brooklyn center, minnesota. clashing with officers jumping on a police suv and using a concrete block to smash the windows. later protesters surround headquarters. officers firing plash bangs. sunday police shot and killed a man during a traffic stop hours earlier. police say officers tried to arrest the driver on a warrant. when the man tried to get into his vehicle. that's when police say an officer shot him. the car kept driving for several blocks. crashing. our minneapolis affiliate reports the driver identified by family as 20 year-old. was pronounced dead at the scene. his mother says she was on phone with him. when police pulled him over. >> i heard the phone. put on the dash board or

dropped. and i heard scuffling. and the police said don't run. the officer said put the phone down and hung it up. >> the body cameras were on. which is the subject of a state investigation. it's only ten miles from minneapolis. where this week defense attorneys will begin presenting their case in the trial of former officer chauvin. and in the death of george floyd. arguing his drug use and heart issues led to his death. >> experts will talk about the fentanyl. and this could have been considered over dose. >> over two weeks the jury has heard from medical experts testifying that chauvin's actions were largely to blame for the death. >> there's no evidence to suggest he would have died that night. except for the interaction with law enforcement. >> police in riot gear left the scene.
