yesterday. but right now, i'm watching a little bit of fog around that. in santa rosa, not unusual, but the visibility is down to in napa. that is something sue and i will keep an eye on for you. here's a look at the low cloud, marine layer clouds pushing across the golden gate. you can see they are easily above the deck. no need to worry about fog there right now. temperatures along the coast into san francisco, cooler than average. mid to upper 60s, 63 to 68 around the bay. 69 in san rafael. otherwise, low to mid 70s there. south bay, mid to upper 70s, in and east bay. we will take a look at the newest numbers for the weekend coming up, dr. reggie., thank you, mike. developing news, americans waking up to news of another mass shooting. this one happened overnight in indianapolis. police are still trying to figure out why a gunmen went into a fedex facility and killed eight people, before killing himself. here's abc news reporter faith abubey. >> we heard shots in front of the entrance. >> reporter: overnight, multiple people shot at this fedex facility in indianapolis.

>> shooter is a white male wearing a hat, has a machine gun currently in front of the building. >> reporter: officers arriving at the building just after 11:00 pm, when they say the gunman was still firing. >> as officers arrived, they came in contact with an active shooter incident. >> reporter: police confirming eight people were shot and killed, adding the suspected shooter took his own life. >> i'm a little overwhelmed. i have worked here for 10 years. i have never seen that happen in my life. >> reporter: a worker at the building describing hearing gunshots during his break. >> then we heard three more shots, and then my buddy levi saw someone running out of the building, and then more shots went off. somebody went behind their car to the trunk and got another gun and then i saw one body on the floor. >> reporter: according to the indianapolis star, more than 4000 people work at that

former brooklyn center police officer who shot and killed him has been charged with 2nd degree manslaughter and is out of jail on bond. abc7 news reporter light at mission high school, where a demonstration was held last night. amy, more events like this are planned throughout the weekend. >> reporter: yes, jobina. more events this weekend. there were events all week, and the people are no longer here in the mission, but they did leave behind their message. so here on the steps of mission high school, we see flowers and signs and candles, and a big banner across the doors of mission high school. with the words, say their names, then the names of people who have been shot and killed by police. we also have a look at the gathering last night, to show you. there were at least 100 protesters who marched through the mission district. many of them holding signs, calling for defunding, disbanding and abolishing police departments. they were calling attention to two shootings. the shooting death of daunte wright, killed by a police officer in minnesota, and roger allen, who was shot and killed by daly city police. there were also protests this

george floyd case. taking off his mask and speaking for the first time in court, chauvin invoked his fifth amendment right against self-incrimination , meaning he will not explain what he was thinking when he pressed his knee against floyd's neck. the defense rested its case come after two days of testimony. prosecutors argue before jurors for two weeks, arguments closing on monday. for my tracking the vaccine rollout in california, opponents are hard to come by, now that anyone 16 and up can try and sign up. >> we were both just checking to today, throughout school, i had worked but whenever i had any kind of break or multitasking and other meetings, i would just keep clicking through cvs, walgreens, and the hospital. >> after 17 hours on the hunt, the high school student, tori, found an appointment through sutter's website, because of the influx, health officials are asking people to be

patient. almost 16 million californians have at least received one dose of vaccine. >> i would guess we are up pushing 50% of people with some degree of immunity right now in california. i think we will be getting towards something approaching herd immunity, you know, i don't know, maybe mid-may or something. >> here's the really good news, dr. rutherford said california is poised to outrun surges that other states are seeing, especially as more teenagers get vaccinated. appointment have open to the will 16 and older in many states, still there are people not jumping in line to get the vaccination. this interactive map on abc7news.com shows as many as one third of adults in some areas of the country say they are hesitant to get the vaccine. uses data from the census bureau survey. in the bay area, solano county has the highest percentage of people hesitant to get the vaccine at 11%. the lois is in san francisco county, where it's 7% of people saying they are hesitant. for my google to get students back in the classroom by monday

in the hayward unified school district is not going to be met. the district superintendent said an agreement has not been reached with labeled groups about resuming in-person instruction. in a message to district trustees, he said he is doing every thing possible to get kids back into the classrooms, but, quote, difficult circumstances are impacting the opening of classrooms safely. now in santa rosa, some parents are so fed up with the slow return of classroom learning, they are threatening to sue. according to the press democrat, the district is working on getting thousands of middle and high school students back on campuses two days a week. that could happen the week of april 26. that is not enough, for some parents, who demand a full-time return. the superintendent says, that is unlikely, before the end of this school year. elementary school students return for hybrid, in person learning earlier this month. coming up, from foe to friend, the prominent bay area manned who wants you did with governor newsom, now making a major contribution to fight the recall effort. meet the environmental

children. prosecutors alleged porter made the donation as he saw the approval to hike garbage collection rates. porter has not returned calls for comment. he is due in federal court on tuesday. and the south bay, detectives are continuing to investigate after the owner of a los gatos bakery was arrested for alleged sex crimes. police say a month ago, they got a report of a sexual assault at mom's bakery. detectives essay, while investigating, they determined the owner often offered female customers breadmaking lessons at the bakery. police say during the lessons, the owner would grope he is now facing the sexual battery charges. investigators believe there may be more victims, and they are asking anyone with information to swishefor dish drive- through event will be held at

serramonte center in daly city from 9:30 to 10:30 this morning. 100 meals are being donated to bay area food banks for each point, the warriors score. so far, more than 120,000 meals have been donated. funding to convert more staffers from hourly job to full-time by the end of the year. walmart expects two thirds of its employees to move into full- time positions. walmart says that means they will have about 100,000 more full-time employees than they had five years ago. this is all part of the company's initiative to promote job stability and to retain workers. walmart recently increased its hourly wages to an average of about $15 an hour. you can now add chocolate and peanut butter to your beauty regimen. reese's is getting into cosmetics is and is. they teamed up to launch and limited-edition makeup line. the collection figures eyeshadow pallet with six shades, lip balm, makeup brushes, and more. the products do smell sweet, but they still taste like makeup. so don't put in your mouth.

the same players out there. we've got high pressure over the ocean, which is sending air to that low-pressure come adjust to the east of salt lake. but the high pressure is also sending some warmer air, that is why we are hitting 68 to 74 and the south bay today with 72 a san jose, 68 if you are going to santa cruz. 60 to 71 is the spread on the peninsula. over on the coast side though, it'll be a little breezy and colder, mid to upper 50s there and into downtown, same thing for north bay coast into sausalito. 69 at san rafael, everybody else makes it into the 70s in the north bay valleys. 63 to 68 with oakland right around 64 today. that's east bayshore. inland, 73 to about 79 degrees. around this day, low to mid 80s through the central valley, that is warming up. still a slight chance of some valley rain and mountain snow in tahoe and yosemite. it is light like 20% or 30%, no big deal. tonight, look at that, a couple degrees milder, mid to upper 40s, a few 50s are possible. my accuweather seven-day forecast, look at that a degree jump, a slight offshore

a lot of them are trying to face this, because this is a site that no one should ever have to see. >> president biden will be briefed on the shooting this morning. the white house chief of staff has been in touch with the mayor of indianapolis. fedex says, it is cooperating with authorities. the mayor of chicago is calling for calm after police body cam video was released in the shooting death of a 13-year- old boy, late last month. we want to warn you, this video is difficult to watch. last night, protesters took to the streets to condemn the shooting of adam toledo. it came hours after the body cam video was released, showing toledo with his hands in the air, when he was shot. the officer responding to reports of shots fired, chased him down an alley, yelling to see his hands. toledo stopped and turned quickly, and the officer fired a shot. yesterday, chicago's mayor held back tears as she pled for peace. >> watching these young people, who are beautiful and magnificent, but traumatized,

capacity. >> we are in our third surge, which is just like a runaway train right now. >> some hospitals setting up triage centers outside to help handle the influx of new covid patients. >> there's just no more room. icus are being filled up, ventilators being taken as well. >> reporter: and just last month, more than a 30% spike in covid cases. the seven day average, hovering at 6 to 7000 new infections. pfizer revealed, those that get the two shot vaccine might need a third job within a year. the cdc also releasing new data on vaccines, saying of the more than 66 million americans who have been fully activated, only 5800 reported. significantly less than 1%. the johnson & johnson vaccine, still on pause. meanwhile, efforts to immunize americans, moving at a record pace. >> we have 3.5 million covid shots yesterday. this isrecord.

>> reporter: health experts point out, the cdc data on breakthrough infections isn't actually surprising. in fact, it shows us how effective these vaccines are. in washington, faith abubey, abc news. data from the cdc shows while the covid-19 vaccines are overwhelmingly effective, they are not perfect. 5800 of the more than 78 and a half million americans who have been vaccinated have been affected by the virus. of those who fell ill, nearly 400 required hospitalization. 74 people died. doctors say failures are very real 100% of the time. illnesses in vaccinated people tend to be milder than those who have not been vaccinated. gavin newsom says, small community clinics may play a key role in getting more of us vaccinated. the governor made a stop at one of these vaccination sites, located in the parking lot of our lady of the rosary church in union city yesterday. he said roughly 49% of
