right now everybody reporting cloudy skies and visibility is reduced along the coast. it's 47 in san mateo. 46 half moon bay. it's 48. in the north bay it's the 40's with limited visibility down to a mile, just over a mile in napa, 4 miles santa rose a9 miles livermore and the plan for that fog to clear quickly by about 9:00. that sea breeze sets up along the coast. that won't stop the warming. in fact wi 80 degrees mark as we get get afternoon. noontime will ke. 7o's by noon. average highs will be passed today as we get into a summer like pattern. we will talk about a warmer sunday. how long the heat lasts and the week ahead in a few minutes. >> all right. thank you. as we said hundreds of protestors took to the streets.

a crowd of up to 300 were there and there was an assault on a community member and a police officer. the crowd broke windows, spray painted buildings and secar on fire. kate larson has the details. >> throughout the country and the bay area people have been protesting after deadly police shootings. all of this 11 months after george floyd died in police custody. frustration and anger continues after more black men have died at the hands of police in the past weeks and months. a crowd of several gathered at oscar grant plaza video shows a group of vandals broke windows, and set fires to businesses including this bank and a store. a flyer has been circulating on social media for the past few days that says abolish the police and asks for for for for

daunte wright and tyrell wilson, who was also shot and killed. a civil rights attorney is representing the family. i spoke to him about the idea of getting rid of police. i also spoke about how oakland stores boarded up windows ahead of the demonstration. >> i understand the people's frustrations. i would ask to respect the properties. we have a right to demonstrate, protest but at the same time we also need to keep those businesses open to people employed. >> abolishing certain types of policing activities and put in its place more humane policing that in fact helps preserve the community as opposed to tearing it down and killing people when we should protect them. it's not just the shootings. those we all know. it's the day in, day out

policing where people are subject to racial profiling where police officers are stopping them, checking their cars, representing hundreds of people. they are angry and they should be. >> this shows a group of people smashing the windows of a target and cars on fire. many of these businesses were damaged last summer more families, people of color here in the bay area and beyond continue to be devastated by the actions of police in their thousands of i' demonstrators rallied in chicago as well demanding justice for adam toledo after the city released video showing the officer shooting the 13- year-old. some said there were -- they were there to protest a system of policing that isn't working they plan to march to the mayor's house to deliver their message. closing arguments are set

to start monday in the derek chauvin murder trial. jurors will then get the case and begin their deliberations. they will have three weeks of evidence and testimony to consider as they determine whether the form former police officer killed george floyd. schools are closing over concerns of potential disruptions. all students will shift to distance learning next week. and smart of building a better bay area is fighting for racial and social justice. while we don't have all the answers we have a lot of vetted local resource that can help. to find out how you can take action and be an ally go go go abc7 news.com/take action. locally windsor mayor up in the north bay said he is not stepping down but he is stepping back from having an active role on the town council while investigators look in to the allegations of sexual assault. he released this statement which reads, it has become

clear to me that the town council will not function at the level expected by its citizens if i remain actively involved given the strong reactions to the allegations against me. i do not want my presence or participation to create a distraction or cause more hurt for residents. >> this is not about if he stays or leaves. there's not a middle ground here. he needs to resign. he is not fit to serve. >> he said he won't attend meetings. and now to coronavirus and a snap shot of where we stand as a state. the positive rate right now now down to 1.7%. more than 52% of people in california have been at least partially vaccinated. california ranks 11th among all states in vaccinations. san francisco announced new guidelines for fully vaccinated

about how the pandemic and family dynamics have impacted funeral plans. >> good morning. just a few hours to go anymore the ceremony. after a week of official mourning, people are joining to say good-bye to prince phillip after seven decades. nearly a century ago prince phillip started his life and exile and refugee but today his coffin will be put among kings. today as he is mourned and honored by a grateful nation the duke's coffin makes it's final journey in a land rover that he helped design for this very day. after a short procession his coffin will be in the royal vault. the small town is used to holding large scale events but today the mood is somber and respectfully quiet. the public will not be allowed to gather to pay their respects but many have gone out of their

way to anyway, leaving flowers, messages and tributes to phillip outside the gate's of the queen's residences. today's ceremony will be on the television with the whole nation tuning in, not to mention the millions more around the world. instead of the 800 guests planned, just 30 people will attend. the queen's closest remaining family and three of phillip's german relatives. his decades of service in the navy during world war ii and his years as captain general of the marines will be reflected in the tributes from across the armed forces. buglers will sound battle stations and troops will fire their guns marking his commitment to duty and service during both war and peace. the playing of the last post shows the end of the day's activities. for the 99-year-old duke who spent most of his life in active work for crown and country, the song marks the end

as we warm we will warm another 8 to 10. there is live doppler seven with the fog around the bay this morning. we widen the view. it's all about high pressure deflecting the storm track and building in throughout the next several days. today, tomorrow, and into monday the ridge starts to break down. we will still be above average. here is a look at the visibility. just over a mile, mile and a half. nevado with five miles half moon bay and two in santa rosa. current numbers are in upper 40's for sunnyvale. up in the north bay, low 40's overnight lows are going to come up as well as the afternoon highs. we will see return of a stronger on shore flow but upper elevation winds are out of the north and that will bring the warmer air down to the surface and that sea breeze will be kept at the shoreline. two to four degrees of warmer

air this morning. that's nothing compared to what we will see tomorrow. here is a look at the upper level winds. they are gusty out of the north and northeast. so that will be transporting that warmer air first in the north bay throughout the afternoon today and then more widespread into sunday. there's a look at the golden gate bridge and we have the clouds for most of us. summer heat is on this weekend and then a cooler pattern as we get into next week. we will have that sea breeze temporarily for your sunday. think we could see a lack of sea breeze here. temperatures will be tricky for sunday. for today the sea breeze cool 60's to numbers in and about the 80-degree range. at the beaches mid-60s's. 73 in santa cruz. here comes the heat further on sunday with low 90's by the

of the local shikh community. that's left some wonder figure it was a possible hate crime. >> authorities releasing the names of the victim from a mass shooting in indianapolis. the victims ranging in age from 19 to 74. all eight shot dead. officialssay by a 19-year-old, brandon scott hole. >> officials have confirmed he was a former employee at the facility and he was last employed in 2020. >> we are learning his mother reported him to police in march of last year saying he may commit suicide by cop. police temporarily held him and took away a gun. the tragedy happening late thursday. he pulled up to the parking lot and started firing. >> we heard three more shots and then by buddy saw someone running out of the building. >> the entire shooting lasting less than two minutes.

south bay. it's 50 in coopertino. mountain view at 49 and that fog in the north bay with low 40's. we are a couple degrees warmer this morning. those northerly winds in the upper elevations are going to stay there and we will have the sea breeze at the surface at the coast. today begins more dramatic warming trend. these winds, from about 13 miles an hour. the oakland hills to over 20 miles an hour mount tam. there's a look at mount tam. the sun up at 6:30. looking at the fog at the coast this morning and near the bay. inland we are clear. then we will see summer like heat this weekend. it'll last inland until about monday. the rest of us will cool back around the bay on monday and the cooler pattern develops significantly on tuesday. there is a look at the fog. earlier this morning and then by eight, nine it all peels back so as high pressure builds in it pushes down on the
