rare and dangerous type of blood clot. it is saturday, april 24th. we have new coverage but first let's start with a quick look at the weather. good morning. the city had a little bit of mist and drizzle, lot of clouds and we could see isolated showers today. the main activity arrives tomorrow with a cold front and low clouds and fog will push off the way inland this morning. we will get a few breaks. here is a look at the activity in the pacific northwest. we will get a piece of that tomorrow in the form of an old fashioned cold front. here is walnut creek. 48 san francisco, it's 50 in morgan hill. low clouds, midlevel clouds and we have high clouds today. 48 in santa rose a49napa and that fog not bad up in the north bay. 50 in concord, finally the roof camera where we are going to see a lot of cloud cover and most of the

bay area today. partly sunny at times, otherwise you will notice the big drop in temperatures just mid-60s's inland. mid50's at the shoreline and we will talk about the rain in tomorrow coming up. now to the race to vaccinate the pause on the johnson and johnson vaccine has been lifted. health officials say the shot can be given as soon as this morning. we have team coverage on the decision from the abc7 news vaccine team. we are focusing on the impact in the bay area. we will start with abc7 news kate larson who spoke to a voting member of the cdc committee. >> the cdc and fda say the single shot vaccine must now come with a warning and medical fact sheet about the risk of a rare blood clot disorder identified only in women. >> we are seeing what appears to be elevated risk of this complication called tts in women under the age of 50. seems to be different and higher particularly in

women in their 30's. >> cdc committee member grace lee voted friday to lift the ten day pause and use the vaccine in all difficults. >> for women under the age of 50 we want to make sure they are aware of the potential risk and there are other available vaccines in the united states that they can get. >> the vaccine was paused after six women came down with severe blood clots with in two weeks of the shot. there are now 15 cases of most with severe clots near the brain. all of the patients women between 18 and 59. three of them have died and seven are still in the hospital. these cases are out of eight million americans who have safely received the vaccine. >> for every one million doses of this vaccine, the j and j vaccine could prevent over 650 hospitalizations and 12 deaths among women aged 18 to 49. >> chief of emergency medicine

fda gave the vaccine the green light. with that comes more vaccine supply to the bay area. contra costa has given 14,000 doses of the vaccine. next week they are expecting more. >> the county will give people the option to choose. >> yes. if there is johnson and johnson available there will always be a back up of either pfiz, r or moderna for them to take. >> the san francisco mayor tweeted san francisco's planning to resume the use of the j and j vaccine. marin said they are waiting on the green light and will resume the use of this vaccine as early as this weekend. doctorssay there still a slight risk with in the first two weeks of getting the vaccine and that one out of 100,000 people can still develop blood clots without the vaccine. >> why is really going to be the question we have to look at. >> the stanford infectious disease specialist sits

on the fda committee that authorized the john season and johnson vaccine for emergency use. she is concerned that the pause will impact vaccine hesitation among women. >> by providing vaccine we are saving thousands of lives that would be lost to coronavirus. >> the two friends are both vaccinated. neither got the johnson and johnson vaccine. when we ask if they would opt for this option they had mixed reactions. >> i mean given a choice i would not prefer it. it's a one in a million chance of getting a blood clot which is -- i think is a -- is something that i can risk. >> they got the johnson and johnson vaccine two weeks ago. she said they would do it again. >> i would still choose that. i felt fine after my shot. >> the vaccine will now include a label that warns of the rare blood clots. in san francisco, abc7 news.

and there was another big development. it its now recommending pregnant women get vaccinated. early clinical trials didn't include anyone who was pregnant but studies found the pfizer and moderna vaccines were safe and effect of for those who are pregnant or nursing. if you or someone you know is a family member of a person who worked for satisfy unified you have priority access to vaccine appointments this weekend. the supervisor shared the information on twitter. he said the city is reserving this opportunity for up to 1500 family members age 16 or older. opponents open for the city college vaccination site. in the south bay the bay area's largest county has reach aid milestone in the fight against coronavirus and given a million doses. nearly a third of the county's eligible population has been vaccinated. still county officials are reminding the public not to let their guard down. >> the more people that get

police on what happened when police shot a suspect in a hotel parking lot earlier this month. the department released a detailed video analysis of the moments leading up to that shooting. here is dan ashley. >> the video starts with steven mosley leaving the hotel. police say they were waiting outside to act him on four warrants. mosley apparently sees the officers and makes a run for it. officers released a k9 who you see here chasing mosley. fremont officers are not far behind. the video is from five different police body cameras and hotel surveillance cameras. mosley appears to point the gun at the k9. moments later mosley points the gun at them. >> drop the gun. >> and they open fire. >> drop the gun. >> mosley was declared dead at the scene. in a video statement the police chief said the officers were not able to stop
