the sun comes up before 6:30. i imagine after that, rain. breezy conditions by noontime. and the scattered showers by late in the day. a dry night tonight. a cold start to the workweek. we'll talk about what the last week of april has in store in a few minutes. this morning, a live look right down hollywood boulevard, the theater lit up in l. a. in hours, some of the biggest stars will arrive for the 93rd oscars airing here. the ceremony will feature something absent from the award shows, a red carpet. only 170 people allowed inside. and of course, there are strict covid restrictions. jade hernandez is outside the dolby theater with more on a historic night with record numbers of women and people of color up for nomination. >> reporter: to inject a smaller ceremony with the glam,

there's a special offering for the event. the red carpet is ready for tonight's academy awards. things will look very different gone are the crowds and throngs of press. only nominees, their guests, and presenters attending. the precautions taking cues from "contagion." . >> three of the leading epidemiologists in the world that worked with us, they are all working with us to make sure that we can keep everyone who is participating safe. . >> reporter: the academy changed the rules with many movie theaters closed during the pandemic. studios offered the new films for at home streaming. >> how do you put the genie back in the bottle when this is over? i think there is an appetite for hollywood to find a solution where streamers and the theaters can coexist. >> reporter: netflix leading

johnson & johnson covid-19 vaccine. an independent review panel of four western states said they support lifting the temporary pause on the johnson & johnson vaccine. their own review of the vaccine found it safe and effective for use after the cdc and fda decision to resume use on friday. governor newsome said the state will resume usebay area countieo resume johnson & johnson with a few changes. even so, some people are feeling wary. >> the administration of johnson & johnson's covid-19 vaccine can resume immediately. >> reporter: the johnson & johnson vaccine is back after an 11-day pause. the fda and cdc saying the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks. >> we're confident that the covid-19 vaccine meets our robust standards for safety, effectiveness, and quality for a medical product used widely. >> reporter: this after a

committee voted to lift the pause, recommending it come with a label, noting the risks of rare blood clots. there's be 15 cases, including three deaths, all women. that's out of 8 million people. >> contra costa county will start using the johnson & johnson vaccine again on monday. >> reporter: the supervise or says people getting vaccinated will soon have a choice. >> in contra costa, if you don't want johnson & johnson, you will have an alternative of the pfizer or the moderna. >> reporter: the county has surplus of vaccine. this clinic will offer johnson & n. . >> i have heard a couple of bad things about it that pfizer is a little bit better. >> yeah, i would get it. it's one and i don't have to come back. >> reporter: the city of berkley will aline with others and resume the use of the modest supply of johnson & johnson as quickly as possible. san mateo has about 1200 doses

during the the syringes and ndles in the story on only here on 7. >>d up my sleeve. she put the needle in and said, oh. after the plunging the plunger part of the syringe. and i said, okay, this isn't good, in my mind. >> reporter: michelle is describing the moment she got her second dose of the covid-19 pfizer vaccine at santa rosa junior college's petaluma campus. >> most of it stayed in the syringe. >> reporter: those from petaluma health center in charge of administering the doses at this location say that four individuals dealt with leakage from needles last thursday, and therefore, will have to get another dose. the chief medical officer from the health center says human error is not to blame, rather the syringes and needles supplied by the feds.

going on to say the retractable needles were the problem and once they identified the issue, 100 needles were taken out of use and replaced with different ones. michelle had side effects like chills and a fever a day after the dose and doesn't know what to expect the third time. but she's happy she's opted to get the vaccine. >> i want to see my family and friends. i want to go out to dinner. i want to sit in a movie house again. just not right now until i get my now third shot. but i want to be able to do that. if you don't get vaccinated, i'm not going to feel comfortable going and sitting with people who i love and care about. >> reporter: michelle is scheduled for another shot this upcoming thursday, a week from the last one she had. there are still questions about whether this time line complies with cdc recommendations. we have reached out to petaluma health center for further

a little bit of snow on the ground. winter storm warning early monday morning. 50 in san francisco. 53 in oakland and san jose. and mount rose, we have snow. snow packs statewide is down to about 30%. we'll pick up about a half a foot to a foot above 4500 feet. 50 by the delta. nevada, 50. 49 in napa. and 52 in concord. the golden gate bridge, the clouds stacked up. and the rain ending in the north bay in the afternoon. showers in the south bay. showers developing and a wet and breezy day. a cool start for monday. isolated showers. but we are looking at temperatures to warm up quickly for the week ahead. level one system. we haven't seen the storm impact scale much at all this season. anywhere from a tenth of an inch south bay and in the inland

valleys, still not a whole lot. but maybe up to a quarter of an inch of a third of an inch to north bay. and here is a look at the next few hours. you'll notice how the rain comes together with the cold front through 8:00, 9:00. and then it begins to march to the south and east of us throughout the early afternoon. and there it goes. clearing tonight. and once again, scaling back a bit on the totals to the south bay. but we weren't going to get much there. about a tenth in san jose. oakland, maybe a thunderstorm for the feet for the highest peaks. the snow accumulates tgh monday at about 11:00, a foot around kirkwood. oracle park today, breezy and wet. highs about 50. otherwise, looking at upper 50s throughout the afternoon for

camp in upstate new york, a special place where young people with disabilities could be themselves. these are the words of a former camper. camper. jim was 15 years old then. he was born with spina bifida. he was given a camera to capture their experiences. that was a half century ago, but he thought it had value to put in perspective how the disabilities movement evolved. collaborating with a producer, both oakland residents spent six years working on the documentary. >> we could use the camp to shift people's perception of disability and tell one of the great unknown and unsung civil rights stories of our time. >> reporter: in the five hour of the unedited film shot, the campers discovered common bonds

and a desire to remove barriers. >> there's the antiwar movement. there was the civil rights movement. there was the woman's movement. and gay rights movement. looking around and saying, you know, we need one for ourselves. >> reporter: judy had been a camper and returned as a counselor that summer. . >> we really felt that we needed to come together in order to really express a new vision. and that we were going to be the leaders of that vision. . >> reporter: the bay area became ground zero where the center for independent living in berkley was pioneering efforts. progressive policies had opened long-closed doors. six years later in 1977, i covered judy and others from the camp occupying the san francisco office of the u.s. department of health, education, and welfare
