overall, near ly 140 million hae got a shot. more than 5 million have missed their second dose of the two-shot vaccines. eva pilgrim reports from a vaccination center in jones beach, new york. good morning, eva. >> reporter: good morning, george. the fight against this virus is far from over. there's still a major push at vaccine sites like this one which you can see from our drone shot to get vaccines into arms. this as the u.s. once again has three tools in our arsenal. this morning, lines once again forming at sites for the johnson & johnson vaccine. from the indianapolis motor speedway to sterling highlights, michigan, where emily murray was one of the first in line once the pause was lifted. >> you have to decide if the risk is worth it to you. >> reporter: 32 states now resuming use of the johnson & johnson vaccine after federal health officials lifted the 11-day pause adding a new warning about the potential of extremely rare blood clots. out of 8 million administered

doses, the cdc found 15 women suffered from them, but concluded the vaccine's benefits outweigh the risks. >> if anybody has any doubts about the safety, we can now say, you know, we take this very seriously. we've looked at it. now let's get back and get people vaccinated. >> reporter: this as a new abc news poll shows that less than half of americans see the johnson & johnson vaccine as safe. 73% of those not yet vaccinated say they wouldn't take a j&j shot. overall vaccine hesitancy remains an issue. nearly 24% of americans aren't inclined to get a vaccine. the cdc releasing new numbers showing that about 5 million people may have missed the recommended time frame for their second dose. this woman was one of those hesitant to take a vaccine. she tested positive for covid at 24 weeks pregnant, eventually ending up on a ventilator. this morning, she's warning others.

>> do not wait until it's too late because it can go so bad so fast, and you might not have a chance to be able to be there for your kids. >> reporter: and here's the deal. if you are one of those people who hasn't gotten their second dose, health officials say you still should. you are not considered fully vaccinated until you have had two shots of those two-dose vaccines. george? >> yes, eva, and as more and more people get vaccinated, we're expecting new guidance from the cdc on wearing masks outdoors. >> reporter: that's right, george. dr. fauci saying he didn't want to get ahead of the cdc, but he expects that we will hear new guidance from them as far as fully vaccinated people and masking outdoors. looks like we're inching a little bit closer and closer to normal. george? >> step by step, eva, thanks very much. michael? >> thank you, george. now to the covid crisis

overseas, as india battles a deadly new surge of the virus. seeing the devastation across the country, convincing the the u.s. to send vital equipment and supplies, but some experts say the biden administration needs to do more. james longman has the latest. good morning, james. >> reporter: yeah, good morning, michael. the covid situation in india now looks to be completely out of control. they're registering more than 350,000 cases a day. there is help on the way from the united states and other countries, but it's unclear if it'll be enough. india has been slow to respond to this second surge, and families are fending for themselves. scenes of desperation across india this morning as the country faces the world's deadliest surge of covid. inside hospitals overwhelmed by the sick. outside, patients lining sidewalks begging for oxygen. the situation is so dire that train coaches are now being transformed into makeshift isolation units and as the daily death toll hits new records, scenes like these, streets turned into massive

crematoriums. in the nation's capital of dehli, doctors are drowning, hit by what they're calling a tsunami of a second wave. now calls are growing for the u.s. to act. the biden administration announcing plans to send ppe and raw materials to manufacture covid-19 vaccines, but health experts say the united states should be doing more. >> we are sitting on a lot of vaccines that we don't need in this country, and i'm hoping the u.s. government is going to ship those vaccines to india because it could be very, very useful in india. >> reporter: and as india races against time to contain the spread, the threat of new variants is growing. >> of course, the big fear is the rise of a variant, the emergence of a variant that renders our vaccines useless. >> reporter: the black market is now thriving. to give you some idea, a tank of oxygen was about $80 before the pandemic. they're now going for more than $1,000. that is way out of the reach of most people, and the massive danger here is a huge country

like india, if it can't get covid under control, the world will not get covid under control. robin? >> that's true. james, thank you. now to those protests over the fatal police shooting of andrew brown jr. in north carolina. seven deputies now on leave as brown's family prepares to view police body cam video this morning. victor oquendo is in elizabeth city, north carolina, with the very latest. good morning, victor. >> reporter: good morning, robin. not only does andrew brown jr.'s family and community want the body cam video released. the sheriff's office here wants it out too, but according to the sheriff, it's not up to him. only a judge can approve that video to be released through a court order, and that might happen as early as today.[ chan >> reporter: this morning, a community demanding answers after sheriff's deputies shot and killed 42-year-old father of seven andrew brown jr. >> sergeant advises ems has got one male 42 years of age, gunshot to the back. >> reporter: according to the

erifs partment, the shooting occurred as deputies who were wearing body cameras were executing warrants related to felony drug charges in elizabeth city, north carolina, last wednesday morning. >> if any of my deputies broke any laws or violated any policies that come out through this investigation, they will be held accountable. >> reporter: officials have released few details, but seven sheriff's deputies have been placed on administrative leave. a neighbor who said she witnessed the shooting says brown did not pose a threat to the deputies when they opened fire. >> he was nonviolent. anybody that knew him would tell you that. he was turning away. >> reporter: one of the attorneys representing brown's family say they were told investigators did not find any drugs or weapons at the scene. brown's family is devastated by the loss. >> now i got to live every day, my newborn without even getting a chance to meet him at all, and that's going to hurt me every day. >> reporter: they will view the

body cam footage later this morning and are calling for it to be released publicly for transparency and accountability. >> it's inexplicable why, when a black person, especially a black man runs from the police, not posing any threat or violence to them, that they still see fit to shoot them in the back. >> reporter: and later this morning, brown's family will be viewing that video privately, and we expect to hear from them after they watch it. george? >> okay, victor, thanks. to the white house now where president biden is gearing up for his first address to congress ahead of his 100th day in office this week. our new poll shows that 52% of americans think he's doing a good job. chief white house correspondent cecilia vega has the latest. good morning, cecelia. >> reporter: good morning, george. that is among the lowest approval rating for any u.s. president at this 100-day mark. it continues to be this partisan divide. president biden is getting overwhelming support from democrats, 90% say they approve

of the job he's done so far, but only 13% of republicans feel that way. from both parties, it's his handling of the pandemic that's getting high marks. 64% approve of how he's done on that. on economy though, more tepid, a key priority for this white house, a little over half. 52% say they approve of his handling on that front. we have been talking about this so much. on immigration, that's a big issue for this white house, what's happening at the southern border continues to perplex this white house here, just 37% say they approve of the job he's done here. george, really, the message from voters right now according to this poll is they want to see this white house, this president push for more bipartisanship. six out of ten say even if that means compromising with some members of congress on some of these bigger priorities for the white house. >> and cecelia, this is the first address to a joint session of congress, coming a bit later for most presidents. what should we expect? >> reporter: it's a really big

week for the president, the white house says he's on the national stage addressing the american public in this setting for the very first time. we're likely going to hear him focus on his next big push, what they're calling the human infrastructure. that's things like free community college and universal pre-k. we're talking about at least a trillion-dollar plan. that's the big legislative side. this will look a lot different, george. covid tested to get inside. you got -- or be vaccinated. just 200 people in that chamber. >> it will not be a packed house. cecelia, thanks very much. we'll have live coverage of the presidential address to congress and the nation on wednesday at 9:00 eastern, 8:00 central. michael? we turn now to new images from "ingenuity." nasa's mars helicopter on sunday flying faster and farther than in any test it went through on earth. the chopper rose to a height of 16 feet before flying half the length of a football field which is another 150 feet for a total flight time of 80 seconds, and while doing that, sending aerial photos of the red planet.

now to the return of travel. the european union is reportedly set to welcome back americans this summer as long as they're fully vaccinated. more than a year after the eu closed its borders to most travelers. transportation correspondent gio benitez is at newark airport with all the details. good morning, gio. >> reporter: hey, michael, good morning. yeah, americans are showing huge interest right now in booking international trips. in fact, online searches for those flights are just soaring right now, and now this headline from the eu. this morning, word that americans could once again be taking off for destinations across the atlantic as early as this summer. "the new york times" reporting vaccinated americans will be allowed to visit places like paris, barcelona and rome again after the pandemic closed borders over a year ago. the head of the european union telling "the times," all 27 member states will accept unconditionally, all those who are vaccinated with vaccines that are approved by e.m.a. many european economies rely on international tourism. eu officials now seeing vaccines as the solution.

red carpet with our panel of experts there. a who's who of celebrity stylists to stars like amanda gorman and cynthia erivo. please welcome jason bolden, ade samuels and brad goreski. wonderful to have you all here. so i'm going to start with you, jason, who was your number one look last night, jason? >> my number one look last night was zendaya. she was absolutely iconic. the color was genius, and the fact that mother nature came and supported this look. the wind. look at the wind, how it goes through this chiffon. that's $6 million worth of jewelry around her neck. her and her stylist, they have it down pat. there's no way to go against this. this is so, so, so young, so fresh, and so new for the oscar red carpet. >> i thought it might have been a wind machine, but that was mother nature. >> that was mother nature

supporting the cause. >> and ade, if you had to pick one favorite look for the night, what would it be? >> i loved andra day. i thought she looked so beautiful in that gold. her and her stylist have worked together for so long. this was her big moment, and i love that she was sexy. it was fresh. i loved the peekaboo aspect of it and homage to cher. i just thought she looked stunning for her big night. she was a big win for me, and that gold was just everything. >> and you look stunning, ade. i have to say you look stunning this morning. brad, hey, you look good too. you and jason, you know, i'm going to show the love all the way around. >> thank you. >> brad, what was the look for you last night? >> oh, mine was regina king in louis vuitton. this gown was absolutely breathtaking. it has over 60,000 sequins on it. thousands and thousands of stones, 80 meters of chain.

it is just a work of art. this sculptural neckline, and her stylists, they just create these magical moments and they said they were going to do something really, really bold at the oscars and they did. it paid off. she looks absolutely stunning, and she has been knocking it out of the park all of awards season, and this was the cherry on the sundae. perfection. >> i have to agree. >> yeah. >> looks fantastic. jason, let's talk about the big trends on the red carpet. we saw a lot of skin with cutouts and also some plunging necklines. >> i mean, skin was completely in last night. i mean, everything. you had viola with the laser cutouts. i mean, you had angela bassett. you had kirby, halle, and all these great moments. i love that they played with color along with the cutouts, the skin. the plunging necklines. everything was just -- it was so

fresh. everybody was kind of calling summer and they were showing so much skin, and it was just really interesting to see that this was something you would normally see at a music carpet, but everybody decided to go outside of the box and skin was completely in last night. >> yep. you like that. skin was completely in. robin really liked that by the way, jason. let's talk about the men now, and ade, we know you're a menswear expert. last night seemed to be about a simplified suit. >> it was, and i was so here for the way that the men made a twist on what the oscar tradition is. they took away the tuxedos, and i really loved what daniel kaluuya did with this. this is the hottest thing right now. he looked effortless, sleek, and riz ahmed and his prada, which was such a beautiful kind of reference that he did. it was modern, and the mock neck was cool. it was a great twist, and we can't forget lakeith.

autism. there were people who, you know, they weren't shy about throwing around the "r" word which, you know, the world desperately needs more places that have this acceptance. >> reporter: for some like emily, they feel like they were never really given a chance at life. >> i couldn't speak until i was 5 and doctors used to tell my parents i would never be able to do half the things i do now. here i am almost 30 and having a full-time job. >> reporter: here they're not told what they can't do, and opportunity ignites their passion. it makes them sparkle. >> i love down syndrome. i am so proud to have you. >> reporter: but this is more than a job. >> if she didn't have this theater, i would be jobless. it would be very sad. >> it means showing the world that despite my, you know, diven differences, i'm still able to work. >> reporter: though the theater had to close, valerie kept every employee on the payroll. >> because of valerie, i'm seen

life? not something that's easily transferable. i wanted to show you. here we have mya and we pulled this outfit together. here's any tips when you are doing cutouts. first would be do minimal. you don't want to show too much skin, and also you can do cutouts on your sleeves, on the arms which is a nice demure way to do it, but if you are going to do it in your midsection right here, you want to make sure you pair it with a higher waisted shirt or skirt so you're not showing too much skin. >> go mya. >> she's not done because she's rocking another trend. >> yes. tons of pink. that. rene zellweger, and we did a monochromatic look. so just stay in the same tonal family. you don't have to be matchy matchy. >> all right, mya. great look. go, mya robin said. let's check out the red carpet remix for adam's look. >> yes.

so it was all about the bold and bright last night. we saw coleman domingo, and leslie odom jr. in pink and gold, and this is how you translate that into an everyday look. here you have adam and we found this great bright pink suit. it has a very spring texture to it, and we paired it with this. instead of a button-down, we did it with a casual t-shirt and it's a little more wearable for an everyday look here. we also saw this other trend of tieless. a lot of men were going tieless last night and instead of ties they were doing chains like daniel kaluuya. he was wearing a great chain. we gave adam a fun silver chain to jazz him up for this monday morning. he's loving it. >> how talented is our staff? >> right? >> i mean they could be models. they look like models. and jade, this is another look.

another big trend we saw. angela bassett had had it. tell us about it. >> statement sleeves were such a big trend and i love a statement sleeve. so regal. so beautiful, but again these are very bold dramatic statement sleeves. how do you translate that every day? >> jade. >> yep. we have jade, and she's wearing this. my tip would be do a neutral for muted color. it makes it more wearable and another microtrend we saw on the red carpet last night was tulle. we saw amanda seyfried in this great red tulle dress. it was beautiful, but how do we again translate that? her sleeves have that chiffon detail. instead of tulle, do that chiffon hitting on tg and raceduto macy's. you were shopping all night long. >> yep. >> because you want folks at home to be able to translate what they saw on the red carpet
