as more people get the covid vaccine, some women say they've noticed changes in their menstrual cycle. kate larson is on the vaccine team and spoke to women and doctors about if these changes are connected to the vaccine. >> anecdotal evidence from women around the country has led to questions about how covid vaccines may affect women's menstrual cycles. i've discussed this with my own circle of friends and when i posted the question on twitter, it became hat a lot of other women were also wondering. one woman wrote, i had my first covid vaccine in january followed by my second, and since then, i have had hemorrhagic bleeding with clots. one woman told me, i thought i was going crazy, even going as far as switching out my birth control because it's been so heavy. another said, i didn't get my period for three months and they did multiple tests and everything came back normal. and finally i got my period and

it's been super heavy for the past 22 days, nonstop. >> i can understand why it's been a little disconcerting. but i would put the word out, this isn't something if even if there was a connection that i would be terribly worried about is representing a long-term problem. >> reporter: ucsf ob/gyn specializes in reproductive endro ken endocrien endocrinolo endocrinology. >> it's very possible that just the stress or maybe disrupted sleep or potentially some disruptive body temperatures, all of those things could have led to something in the menstrual cycle getting a little thrown off for a month. >> reporter: dr. huddleston has not noticed more complaints about cycle changes at her clinic and wants to reassure women that the vaccine is safe. >> in terms of why women would have a heavier cycle, i think there's -- clearly, we don't know the answer to that. we don't know definitively, if there is a true link with menstrual cycles and the

vaccine. however, we do know that in addition to hormones being really important in the menstrual cycle, that there is a role for the immune system in the uterus. >> reporter: huddleton thinks that women's physiology should be a larger focus during medical trials. in the meantime, she says women should consult their doctors about any concerning changes in their cycles. kate larson, abc 7 news. california is going to lose some of its political clout following the release of the latest census. the state is still the most populous in the country with the 39.5 million people living here, but its growth has actually stalled a bit. that means our state will be one of seven that will now lose one seat in congress. new york needed just 89 more people to hold on to its seat. six states gained seats, including texas, which gained two house seats. so does this mean there is a california exodus? you hear a lot about that. political experts say, not exactly. >> it can come from multiple kinds of issues. it can comes from people leaving the state. but that's maybe the thing

that's overestimated. the actual bigger impact could be the changing in birthrates among californians. >> the data showing population shifts within the state won't be available until later this year, but current projections suggest that the bay area is unlikely to lose a seat. today, apple released a long-waited privacy feature for its iphone and ipads. the tool is called app tracking transparency. transparency. easy for me to say. it gives users more control over apps that want to track them for advertising. first, you'll need to update your operating system. then when you open an app that tracks you, you'll be greeted with a pop-up and a chance to opt out. >> it's a good change, part of the danger of the internet is losing your individuality and your privacy. and this allows you to still help advertisers make your messages relevant without telling them what you're doing tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m..

weeks. how about the super moon. a bright full moon is in the sky. and not just any full moon, it's a pink super moon. this is new video of the moon over the new york city skyline. even though it's called a pink moon, it is not actually pink. let's get to abc 7 news meteorologist sandy patel to explain why. i caught quick glimpse of it tonight. >> wasn't it amazing, ama? i thought it was absolutely stunning. all right, dan and a ma, let me show you the super moon from our kgo roof camera right now. this was from earlier tonight. i want to show you a time lapse of the moon rising. it was just stunning. yes, there were a few high clouds there. here's another vantage point from our south beach camera. and you will see it coming up there, as well. basically, here's the deal. it is at its closest point to earth and that is the first full moon of 2021. it's a pink super moon, because it's named after the pink

flowers that bloom around this time of year. it's the full moon that appears bigger and brighter. and we will see this again as we head into may and also into june. so if you didn't get a chance to see it, there's still opportunity left. doppler 7 right now slowing you a few passing clouds. you know we had some rain anywhere, from a couple hundredths of an inch to a third of an inch in mill valley. a couple of places were completely not measuring any rain. but here's a look at what's ahead. high pressure is going to start tyke control, which means a warming trend is ahead. unfortunately, i don't have any rain in the forecast, but hopefully that changes come. temperatures in the 40s and 50s right now, a look at those winds. 20 miles an hour at sfo. not nearly as gusty as it was, but the winds will pick up again as we head into tomorrow. not so much in the morning, but as we go into 3:00 in the afternoon, 25, 30-mile-an-hour winds continuing into the evening hours. here's a view from our emeryville camera tonight and
