clics arou the officia say the turn their attention to this segment of the population. she said they will really make a push to get those teenagers to get their shots. the big question is, when will the 12 to 15-year-olds be allowed to get the shot? pfizer is ready to go, and has applied with the fda for approval that is expected to come in may. doctors who have been following the studies and trials say they like what they see so far. >> the safety signals are really good. we anticipate that they won't be different for children.for c. >> reporter: as for all children, those 12 and under, dr. fauci is saying, we might have approval for them by the end of the year. the clinic here at over felt high school in san jose will be open today and over the weekend. today it opens at 11:00. officials plan to hold a press conference here, to really make their push for why teenagers should get out and get their shot. live in san jose, amy

hollyfield, abc7 news. for my thank you, any. new this morning, astrazeneca sold a whopping $275 million worth of its covid-19 vaccine already this year. that is without the shot having fda clearance here in the u.s. astrazeneca released new financial information estimating it's delivered around 68 million doses worldwide. most of them sent to europe. pfizer is going to start making smaller shipments of its covid-19 vaccine available. this will give smaller doctors offices a chance to get the vaccine, and make it easier to reach people who still aren't getting vaccinated. studies show getting the covid- 19 vaccine from someone's personal dr. can help alleviate vaccine hesitancy. happening today, fremont pharmacy is opening of exhalation clinic for people who want the pfizer shot. they currently have no waitlist, and the clinic will be opened this afternoon from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. the hours tomorrow and sunday are 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

our vaccine tracker on abc7 is keeping tabs on the progress across california. right now, it shows 39% of residents over the age of 16 are fully vaccinated. more than 29 million doses have been given out you can find this and more at /vaccine. today, this funeral service will be held for mckee o'brien, the club is, ohio, teenager that was shot and killed by a police officer during a confrontation at her foster home. lycc another girl, leading an officer to fire his weapon within just seconds. her family says, they don't want the teenager to be remembered by the incident, that ended her life. the family of a man who died after being restrained by alameda police officers is taking legal action against the police department. jobina fortson is at the live

desk with new information coming in this morning, another one of these startling debts, jobina. absolutely, julian. the attorney for the family of mario gonzalez told abc news, they plan to file a civil like lawsuit. gonzalez complied with the officers, they say, and his rights were violated. the incident began with 911 calls about a disorderly person in the area. when police encountered gonzalez, he appeared to be incoherent, but not aggressive. when the officers tried to arrest him, he resisted. and they pinned gonzalez to the ground for several minutes, with one officer placing his knee on gonzalez's back gonzalez lost consciousness, and he later died at the hospital his family's attorney is speaking on gma today. >> alameda police apartment needs to explain why a perfectly healthy man, who was never charged with a crime, was killed in their custody. >> that was the mario gonzalez speaking. the three police officers are on administered leave as they investigate the lawyer for the officers says they are heartbroken that gonzales died,

but he was very intoxicated at the time. alameda city council has scheduled a meeting for may 8th to look into how police respond to mental health calls, julian. >> we will be staying on top of that, thank you, jobina. police are tracking down a second suspect in a series of smash and grab robberies in the bay area. more than 30 robberies are being investigated in san jose, hayward, newark, new midcity and oakland. please say the suspects have been following their victims in shopping center parking lot, smashing their car windows and take off with their purses and other belongings. you can see that happening in the video here. most of the victims are asian american women, but investigators have not said if race is a motivation for the crimes. one suspect has been arrested.b. san francisco city leaders held a kickoff celebration to mark the start of asian american pacific islanders heritage month. this year, the theme and celebrate brazilians and uplift voices, for the challenging year many asian americans have faced. >> we know that this community has had a really challenging

a little fog and mist along the coast around half moon bay and pacifica. and we got temperatures around 50 for most of us, until you get around redwood city and menlo park, mid-40s there. cooler temperatures in santa rosa, 39 with the fog, mainly 50 around the bay and south bay. 50s and 60s in inland east bay neighborhoods. another vantage point of this gorgeous sunrise from san rafael, south on 101. 50s at the coast, mid-60's around the bay, we will warm into the 70 to 77 degrees range for inland and bay by 4:00, which is a little bit cooler than yesterday, significantly inland.

random shooting, but the victim said, he did not know who the suspect was, kumasi? thank you, jobina. new details this morning, five people have been arrested in connection with the shooting of lady gaga's dog walker, and the theft of two of her french bulldogs. the dog walker has recovered now from the shooting emma back on february 24th. los angeles police say one of the people arrested is a woman who said that she found the dogs and returned them to police after lady gaga offered a $500,000 reward. officials say they believe the motivation for the attack was the value of the dogs breed, rather than the celebrity owner. still ahead, and nfl draft dream comes true. bay area native gets the call of a lifetime. he becomes the first round draft pick. >> how google is helping to keep formerly incarcerated people out of jail, the program now expanding in the bay

welcome back, everyone. the first night of the nfl draft was a thrilling one for bay area nati rris. alabama running back and former antioch high school football star was drafted by the pittsburgh steelers. and abc7 was right there as harris was surrounded by family and friends in emeryviin emeryvi he grew up in numerous places. antioch, oakland, and in 2010, when he was just 12 years old, he spent time living in this richmond shelter. >> it's all in god's plan, you know? my roots will always be in the bay area. >> so what's next for harris? he's on a flight out of town this morning, heading to pittsburgh. pennsylvania. >> yes. now would be a very short flight otherwise, right? we are very happy for him coming guy, and gives back to the community. such a great way too. the rabbit that went viral last week after stealing the

google says it is planning to expand a program to help formerly incarcerated people get job training. the company will work with five nonprofits across the u.s., including last mile and here in the bay area. grow with google plans to provide training to roughly e of year. trnings will mplljob sear, sk skparatio and project management. at the end of an era for a san francisco bakery, known for its famous honey cakes.

them in san jose, telling the teams to come and get it here at overfilled high school. demand has dropped so much at vaccine clinics, officials are now turning their attention to the 16 and 17-year-olds, making sure they know they are eligible and doses are avaifor them. the big question now is, when can the 12 to 15-year-olds get vaccinated? pfizer says the vaccine it has created is tested and ready, and the company has applied for fda approval. and many are expecting that to come in may. doctors say, the sooner we can get it to the younger kids, the better. 16 greater we talked to said, she is ready. >> at first i didn't want to get it, but if me getting it means i will be able to go back to school, and play sports and do things that i like, i will get it. >> even before school, it'll make a big difference this summer. people want to get out reporter: and for the kids

your question. san francisco and marin counties could advance into the less restrictive yellow tier next week. this means an increased capacity of up to 50% for places like gin, movie theaters, and entertainment centers. but the biggest change will be the bars that don't serve food. they will be allowed to reopen indoors at 25% capacity. the yellow tier status would also allow life performance venues to increase their capacity to do. a new mural in san francisco's mission district is aiming to uplift the city's latino community. the artwork located in clarion alley was unveiled yesterday. it features a his grandmother, with text reading, you are my other knee, in spanish. the artist behind the mural, elizabeth says, it serves as a reminder that we have to take care of each other during these challenging times. >> that is gorgeous, right there. from happening today, travis air force base will be setting a third shipping of supplies to

india. as you know, they've been devastated by the coronavirus right now. ac five m aircraft is scheduled to leave for fairfield at 7:30 this morning. the base already coordinated shipment of test kits, masks and oxygen tanks. they need oxygen so desperately there. that's all set to arrive in india today. over now claiming 208,000 lives in the country, as cases continue to surge. at least 44 people have been killed in a massive stampede in israel. the chaos erupting during a religious festival. jobina is at the live desk with what we are learning overnight. thank you, julian. officials say it's unclear what started the stampede, but an investigation is underway. police were seen desperately tearing down metal barriers to thmorushing through the area. in addition to dozens of deaths, more than 100 people have been injured, at least three dozen critically wounded. people are still waiting for help this morning. rescue efforts were delayed by the festivals remote location. >> all of a sudden, we saw paramedics running by, like mid

cpr. >> prime minister nan yahoo has visited the site and has confirmed tragically, there are children among the dead. sunday has been declared a national day of mourning, kumasi. >> thank you, jobina. >> reporter: developing news in oakland this morning, police say they have made an arrest after the head of the chinatown chamber of commerce was attacked. you've likely seen carl chan on abc 7 news before, because he's been speaking out often on crimes in chinatown and against asian americans. he said he was walking near broadway and eighth street in downtown oakland yesterday, when a man yelled a slur and then pushed him on the ground. he was only scraped up, but he said it could've been much worse. >> and one away i say i got lucky, but i just don't want to see this happening over and over again, not only with me, i don't want it to happen, it against any seniors. >> he said he snapped a couple

of photos of his attacker, while he was getting away and was able to give police a description. santa rosa city council is looking to report that police use excessive force against black lives matter protesters last summer. according to the press democrat, the city hired an outside investigator to look into these allegations, surrounding protests following the killing of george floyd. now the report claims, officers fired technical projectiles at peaceful crowds. those are typically used to break windows. one of those rounds severely injured a demonstrator who was there. the report also claims officers targeted people unnecessarily with rubber bullets. new developments here in the effort to recall the mayor of windsor. it's now moving forward. this week, paperwork needed to oust mayor dominic foppoli was refiled and accepted as valid. the organizers of the campaign to recall the mayor had to start the process over, because originally, it did not include his correct title. foppoli has refused recalls to

california's drought, as mike first told us yesterday, a lot of the bay area is now in extreme drought. you can see those areas highlighted in the red. now democrats in the california senate are taking action. they have outlined a proposal to spend $3.4 billion to combat drought. this money would pay for things like trucking and water for small communities, and encouraging conservation. supporters say they need to take advantage of the budget surplus. that map is really tough to look at. it looks like things are getting worse. >> yes, they are getting worse. and he will continue to get worse. there is no way of sugarcoating it, because, well okay, we could sugarcoat it a little bit, but not enough to stop the bleeding, if you will. the we will sugarcoat is by showing you what's going on right now, and how bad it was at the end of 2015. that is what you are seeing. you are seeing the latest on the left, and where we were
