antioch. numbers around the 50 degree mark san francisco, novato . warmer in the north bay because of the wind. gusts to 25 miles per hour, half moon bay. above 1000 feet, they are out of the north mt. tam, mt. diablo was over 50 miles per hour. we are looking at sunny skies. noon, 60s and 70s. warmer away from the coast. sunshine at the coast with gusty winds. yesterday peak wind gusts 54 miles per hour at sfo. fire danger is elevated through the next several days. details and a fire weather watch coming up. with improving covid-19 metrics, san francisco is expecting to make the least restrictive yellow tier this week. it will give another boost to the economy, something we are focused on in efforts to build a better bay area.

yesterday as trees blew over and powerlines broke loose. in one case, a man escape with his life when a huge pine tree came crashing down. the trees roots were ripped from the ground at this park near the embarcadero. you can see the 90 foot pine toppled over, briefly trapping a man. he managed to crawl up. paramedics took him away, but he is expected to be okay. a scene a few miles south between the 101 and 280 freeway. energized wires broke loose from a poll. the street wish shut down while the lines were prepared. the winds knocked down a 30 foot tall tree in pacific heights. you can see it appears to have pulled it up by the roots and tossed it on a car. fortunately, nobody was in the car. some scary situations and the windy conditions are good reminder that it's never too early to think about fire season. for wildfire awareness day,

the two communities. in southbay, a message of unity and a call to action. santa clara city leaders joined members for march to stop asian hate. it started at franklin square and ended at civic center park. organizers are calling on state lawmakers to take action against the rise in violence against asian americans. >> we as local community leaders need to let the legislators know we had to be strict. there should be consequences for all these things happening, and people should be held responsible. >> organizers since their responsibility to stand in solidarity with all communities facing hate and discrimination. >> asians united. >> these activists held a march for elders event in san francisco. they chanted and marched from portsmouth square to demand justice for their elders and other victims of hate crimes.

the centers for hate and extremism found anti-asian hate crimes are up 140% in the first quarter of this year compared to last year. is more school districts bring students back, they're looking for ways to speed up the screening process each day. abc7 news david louie shows how an app originally developed for offices is now being used by a san jose school district. >> reporter: this is week two for limited classes in san jose franklin mckinley school district. it's a program in which teachers volunteer to be in the classroom with up to 15 students to ensure everyone's safety, safety and sanitation protocols are being open- minded. parents play an important role checking in their children with an app called company nurse. >> we don't have anything to impacted negatively. this is crucial to making sure our classrooms are safe, the staff feels safe, the families feel stave. >> reporter: it's a school that developed by company who

four astronauts are back on earth, spacex safely returned from the international space station overnight. >> [ applause ] >> excellent news. we are splashdown. >> the dragon capsule parachuted into the gulf of mexico off of panama city, florida, just before midnight. it's the first u.s. crew splashdown in darkness since 1968. officials say it was done to take advantage of calm weather. the trip home only lasted 6.5 hours. the astronauts, three americans and one japanese completed a 167 day mission. the long as for astronauts launching from the u.s.. so cool. that's really amazing. >> very cool. we had a nice day yesterday.

the winds, a lot of people talking about that. once again we will have winds above the surface that are gusty but they will change to a northerly gradient and we will still have the sea breeze at 1000 feet. combining those two factors, a wide range of temperatures again. here's a look at live doppler 7 were a classical set up. high pressure offshore. low pressure diving over california and the dog between the two creating the wind. the next couple of days drier air and warmer weather. it's 50 in the city as well as half moon bay. d4, concord. numbers around the 50 degree mark. upper elevations will have the wind shift. with it dry, it's exacerbating the fire danger, sacramento valley. there's a look at the golden gate bridge. the sun is coming up at about 6:12. patchy coastal fog. sunny and warmer and breezy this afternoon. offshore winds increasing the fire danger around the delta.
