released the maps showing the new climate normals. >> very eye-opening. center christian is going to help explain what has changed. >> the new normals were based on calculations collected over the last 10 years from weather stations across the country. this is the new normal for 1991- 2020. this map shows the new normal for annual precipitation. you can see the areas indicating where precipitation has increased 5-10% mainly in the north central states and in the east and southeast. these areas and the brown indicate areas that have had more periods of drought where levels have declined 5 that is a new normal. the new normal in mean
