be required to order a meal, as well. we are hearing a lot of excitement about that. bars won't be having all the fun, though. we checked in with the california academy of sciences. they plan to bring back their weekly event called night life that includes a dj. family entertainment centers like roller skating rinks will also be allowed to open. workers at the church of eight wheels in san francisco said it was starting to feel like the yellow tier would never get here. >> i am watching all the businesses open, everybody but me and now it is my turn. i am on top of the world. it is fantastic. >> it is absolutely fantastic. >> some hotels are starting to notice a pickup in business. they aren't seeing business travel come back yet, but the vacationers are starting to

variants we have been hearing about including those in india, south africa and brazil. >> reporter: the goal is to let other nations produce their own vaccines. >> our objective is to getting as much supply into the global community as quickly as possible. >> that was dan ashley reporting. cvs says it is accepting walk- in appointments for covid vaccinations at more than 8,300 stores including 1,100 stores right here in california. no appointment is necessary. the mass vaccination site at the oakland coliseum will be closing in two-and-a-half weeks on may 23. appointment there is are down from about 4,000 a day to just 400. health officials plan to switch their focus to more community- based options. it could be the next housing crisis. a judge just ruled the cdc did not have the authority to enact a national ban on evictions during the pandemic but the judge put the decision on hold

[ speaking in spanish ] >> translator: my sadness is because i went all my savings for my daughters to continue their studies. >> reporter: wednesday the judge ruled against the national eviction moratorium, saying the cdc exceeded the authority to impose the ban. late wednesday the judge agreed to put a hold on her ruling pending appeal, but that still

makes tenants rights advocates uneasy, especially since california's eviction moratorium is set to expire at the end of the june. >> the biggest concern is that the expiration date is coming and families will be in the street, so we will see a massive eviction as probably we haven't seen yet. >> over 40,000 families here in a santa clara county alone would be at high risk of not just facing an eviction, but the potential of homelessness. >> reporter: new civil alliances side with landlords and praise the initial judge's decision against the moratorium because housing providers are being forced to provide free unlimited housing to tenants. j.r. stone, abc7 news. new data released by mayor london breed's office shows the number of tents for housing of homeless people in san francisco has dropped by 65%.

it is part of a widespread effort to increase replacements for officials that started in the pandemic. there were 383 tents in the city last month, a significant decrease from april of 2020 when more than 1,100 tents were reported. in addition, there were only nine large homeless encampments defined as six tents or more. last year there were 66 encampments counted. in the east bay investigators are working to figure out what sparked the brush fire that burned 15-acres off off yellowstone way in a vacant field. a group of kids was seen run from the area and fireworks were also found. winds helped to drive these flames. state officials are warning california's wildfire season could be extreme this year. >> yes. we are at the highest level and even little things like that, it is just so dry. you can't have any spark or open flame near any dry vegetation. the winds will be a little

faster today and tomorrow in all the neighborhoods so that will heighten the fire danger. when it gets warm this weekend the winds will continue and that will keep us in a heightened fire danger. probably no red flag warnings but you can see right there you don't need them sometimes for fires to break out. let's talk about what is going on. partly cloudy on the bay side. mostly cloudy, foggy and misty on the coast side. temperatures in the mid to upper 40s on the peninsula and upper 40s to low 50s everywhere. fremont and concord 53 and antioch at 60, the warm spots. here is san jose where it is clear. through the morning increasing clouds there, like it will be most places. the clouds will never completely leave the bay today nor the coast. look at the biggest drop in the temperatures inland. mainly 70s today after 80s and 90s yesterday. 60s at the bay and 50s at the coast. you will definitely need a coat this evening. 62 by 7:00.

the good news, check out the air quality rolling in. it will be nice and that is going to make it nice for outdoor activities. do the yard work now and save money on not needing run the a/c. air quality will be good to moderate through sunday. let's get to francis and talk about the morning commute. hi, francis. hi, mike! good morning, everyone. we have a major traffic alert for east bay commuters. a sigalert has been issued due to the big rig accident in the dublin/pleasanton area, blocking all lanes at westbound 580 approaching or just at 680. this was a big mess that happened earlier at 125 this morning. the big rig is up righted, they put the fire out, but the big concern is the fuel spill that apparently stretches over 50- yards, affecting all lanes. caltrans is required to clean up the diesel spill across all

four lanes with absorbent and there is no estimated time of reopening lanes on westbound 580 approaching 680. i want to take you to the maps to show you where this is all happening. the connector ramps from westbound 508 to 680 are open so you can connect to northbound 680 or southbound 068 but you will be in that big back up growing right now. as an alternate you may want to head off the freeway and if you are heading northbound take dublin boulevard or southbound stoneridge drive to pop back on 680 to avoid that delay. you may want to consider isabel avenue or 84 if you are headed southbound but there is slowing there at pleasanton as you connect back to 680. another alternate is ace train. so far no delays reported. ace train number 1, 3 and 5 will be running this morning. westbound 580 tracy to dublin

covid cases within the next two months, but the threat of new variants against progress still very real. new data from the department of health and human services shows younger, unvaccinated people are now driving new infections. the nfl giving out ut ut super bowl tickets to those vaccinated. >> i am asking when will be pandemic be over? it depends on the actions we take now. >> reporter: and pfizer is waiting for the fda to approve its vaccine for young people between 12 and 15 years old. a cdc panel could meet as soon as next wednesday to discuss the rollout of the vaccine to that age group if the fda gives its approval. faith abubey, abc news, washington. new this morning, pfizer

announced overnight it will provide covid-19 vaccines to olympic athletes as two new studies finds pfizer's vaccine provides strong protection to several variants. the uk variant and south african variant. new data reveals the bay area is among the most vaccinated parts of california. state health officials have tracked vaccination rates across 1,700 zip codes. one of the highest rates is in santa clara's zip code and the los alto hills. in the east bay, includes north berkeley hill, kensington, albany and richmond. we are getting a better

idea of the changing workplace for two bay area employees. employees can return to the office in less than two weeks. no word on whether this means the end of remote work for the company. google expects 20% of employees will work from home after its offices reopen later this year. the other 80% will work on site a few days a week or work from new office locations. and google is being sued for secretly collecting and selling user's personal information. the suit is set to be filed today in san jose. a law firm has been tracking the alleged violations for months and claims that google is collecting the data and selling it at auctions for advertisements despite google's promise to never sell personal information to third parties. abc7 news has reached out to google for comment. the man accused of stabbing two women in san francisco is expected to be charged as soon as today. one of the victims is 63.

. a bar owner just outside of lodi is under arrest accused of making and selling vaccine cards. a sing operation was set up at the old corner saloon in san joaquin county. for $20 undercover agents bought four counterfeit cards and seized dozens more. agents say the cards look identical to the real ones, even having the cdc logo, but they found evidence of a secret operation. >> we located 30 blank cards,
