thank you for watching. >> we appreciate your time. >> dicky: from hollywood, it's "jimmy kimmel live"! tonight, julianna margulies. daniel day kim. and music from amethyst kiah. and now, jimmy kimmel! [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: hi, there. i'm jimmy, i'm the host of the show. thank you for watching. thank you for joining us in sunny los angeles, california where things are looking just a little bit brighter every day. things are getting back to abnormal. [ laughter ] we're finally back to administering more shots of botox than the vaccine. [ laughter ] which is great. we have officially entered what the state calls the yellow tier. unfortunately, anyone who has ever driven in l.a. knows nobody slows down for yellow. [ laughter ] saunas and steam rooms are allowed to re-open.

as of today. three months ago, we were double-gloving it at the atm, who the hell is getting a box of steam with strangers right now? [ laughter ] bars can now serve drinks without having to serve food. which is great news for alcoholics who were getting very fat. [ laughter ] by the way, after all the talk of how unnecessary the shutdowns were, state of california has the lowest positivity rate in the country by far. [ cheers and applause ] florida, well, they didn't close down, florida ranks 44th. the average test positivity rate here in l.a. is 0.7%. the way things are going, if covid wants to stay in hollywood, it's going to have to start doing improv. [ laughter ] you know, this is interesting. you know what's been -- has been in decline in a big way during the pandemic? showers. people have been bathing less during lockdown. in fact, the new york times had
11:37 pm
a story about this and included one of the oddest captions i've seen printed in a newspaper. "robin harper outside her home on martha's vineyard. she said she began taking showers once a week during the pandemic." hey, mom, i'm in the "new york times"! oh, wow, for what? not washing my ass! [ laughter ] some doctors say daily showers are unnecessary and actually counterproductive when it comes to overall health. these are the doctors who don't get invited to the office christmas party. [ laughter ] oh, i think i'm developing the covid right now. no, i'm okay, all right. [ laughter ] another pandemic body trend is a puzzler. americans are getting more butt implants than ever before. butt implants were up 22% last year. people who weren't going to the doctor to get anything done, they're getting big pads implanted into their butts. and they're also selling a lot of these butt-lift leggings. i guess they've been all over tiktok or maybe that's just my algorithm. i don't know. [ laughter ] they sell them on amazon. guillermo, i heard a story about

[ laughter ] i don't like the sound of that. so we got guillermo some of those amazon butt lift leggings go ahead show them off. show us what you have now. this is the real product. [ cheers and applause ] we ordered it. look at that. wow. your wife's going to go crazy when she gets -- [ cheers and applause ] that's really great. how do you say "junk in the trunk" in español?

[ laughter ] be careful on that stool. wear those home, okay? >> guillermo: i will, i promise. >> jimmy: oh, i bet you will. [ laughter ] caitlyn jenner two weeks ago, you know who this is? >> guillermo: yeah, i know, yeah. >> jimmy: she has launched her campaign to be next governor of california. and last night she sat down for what they called a "town hall" wit sean hannity. there was no town and no hall, but there was sean hannity pretending to be interested in caitlyn's take on a variety of subjects, including her inexplicable affection for . >> i think he did some things i agree with, some things i didn't agree with. what i liked about donald trump is he was a disrupter. you know? he came in and shook the system up. okay? >> jimmy: uh-huh, okay? [ laughter ] he shook the system so hard, he lost custody of it.
11:40 pm
[ laughter ] child protective services had to come in, stopping him from shaking the system. and then this is how well caitlyn jenner understands the plight of everyday californians. first of all, she mentions this airplane she flies multiple times. they had the "town hall" in her own airplane hangar. and this apparently is where she has been listening to her future constituents. >> the guy across was packing up his hangar, i said, where you going? he says, i'm moving to sedona, arizona, i can't take it anymore, i can't walk down the streets and see the homeless. >> jimmy: oh, homeless people, can't walk around 'em, can't fly over 'em, you know? [ laughter ] since trans phobic to call a trans person an ignorant a-hole? or does calling that trans person an ignorant a-hole, even though she happens to be a trans person, show we don't discriminate against ignorant a-holes no matter their gender orientation? it's a tough one, i don't know,

[ laughter ] and sunday is the day we honor the women who literally nursed us. mother's day is sunday. will you be seeing your mother-in-law on sunday? >> guillermo: yes, jimmy. >> jimmy: you will? >> guillermo: yeah, i have no choice. >> jimmy: will you wear the pants? >> guillermo: oh, yeah, yeah. two tequila shots, yes, of course. [ laughter ] ♪ >> jimmy: this will turn the things around between the two of you. >> guillermo: oh, my god! >> jimmy: mother's day goes back well over 100 years. in 1908, a woman named anna jarvis from grafton, west virginia, declared the first mother's day in the united states. it caught on to the point where she eventually became disgusted with the commercialization of mother's day and urged people to
11:42 pm
stop buying flowers, cards and candies. and like a bunch of unruly kids, we didn't listen to her at all, we keep buying candies. you know, there's a limited supply of flowers this year because of covid. here in california, a lot of growers switched to growing pot. not a joke. [ laughter ] we don't have any flowers. the good news is mom is really going to enjoy brunch this year. [ laughter and applause ] you know, a lot of men, whether they be husbands, sons, et cetera, don't know what to do for their wives and/or mothers for mother's day. so to help with that my wife has volunteered to let you know what she recommends. and here now with some sage mother's day advice, please welcome my wife and mother to some of my children, molly. molly?
