we will hold onto a lot of this warmth and that sets the stage for another hot/warm day tomorrow. the winds are the strongest along the coast and we will see those strengthen once again tomorrow afternoon. futuretrack showing you those winds gusting from 20 to 40 miles an hour. you combine that with another day of hot temperatures and dry humidity levels in we are seeing a chance of any fires could start quickly. from the north bay to the east bay and the inland east bay for strong winds and low humidity. we will show you those hot temperatures and when we will find relief in the full forecast . san jose firefighters battled two fires, today. this fire broke out near the

san jose municipal golf course and earned about 3 acres. firefighters say it burned through a few homeless encampments. crews say the fire was under control within a few hours. this afternoon, a fire burned about 2 acres. firefighters got it under control. in solano county, it didn't take much for a spark to quickly grow into a dangerous wildfire. the fire started off of loucks road and those winds triggered a red flag warning. we were right there as firefighters fought to get it under control. >> i was nervous. i locked up one dog because he was a little antsy. >> reporter: minutes later, the fire was making a run up the

hill fueled by acres of dry grass. cal fire calling in extra crews and ground support to fight it. a low altitude attack. >> the eucalyptus caught fire and i thought it was going to domino effect but they got it. >> reporter: michael grabbed what he could to try to put the fire out. >> our well is in the back where it started. >> reporter: but the strong winds were no match. >> the fire took off quite rapidly and got down into some heavier brush. we augmented to extinguish it. >> reporter: rosenberg rodriguez believes he accidentally started the fire while cutting tallgrass on his riding lawnmower.

>> that thing sparked and that is how this started. >> reporter: firefighters say one spark is all it takes. >> hopefully, the homeowners are doing their due diligence. >> reporter: anthony has seen a fire before and he is ready for a long summer. a grass fire this large so early really has firefighters concerned. it is hot, dry and it feels like june or july. despite what we heard from that home owner, cal fire is still investigating the cause of the fire but say using a lawnmower should be aborted during a red flag alert. in the north bay, this early start to fire season has many people on edge. abc seven news reporter spoke to a santa rosa family who survived the fire in 2017.

this season, they are hoping their home will be spared. >> reporter: in the home, the family's members and years of sacrifice all gone. >> that is my husband and he is looking for souvenirs that may have been spared but nothing was found. >> reporter: in october 2017, her parents woke up to the neighborhood engulfed in flames. almost 4 years later, experiencing a red flag warning. >> it is hard to bring it up to my parents but i think we all know that it is here. we don't really like to talk about it but i know it is in the back of all of our minds. >> reporter: the warning has been in effect since 11:00 friday. humidity and high temperatures in the upper 80s. >> this county has been through a lot so the red flag warning is not intended to scare people

but make sure people understand what the conditions are. >> reporter: this time around, santa rosa is better equipped. >> the early warning systems and the network of cameras have really greatly enhanced our ability to respond to wildfires. >> at first, we didn't want to rebuild because we always knew that it would still be a problem. but my dad, he always made sure to tell us that when he came into this country, he wanted to make sure that he left for his messes and nephews. >> reporter: this fire station that was once standing is still gone but in hopes of healing, neighbors are slowly coming back . >> reporter: how many of your neighbors decided not to come back?

about the mario gonzales instant and that happened in our city. >> reporter: gonzales died on april 15 when police were called. police body cam footage shows gonzales pinned on his stomach, being kneeled on by police before going limp. police initially described his death as the result of a medical emergency. it has prompted the city to speed up its discussion on the police reform. >> we have been working on this for almost a year. we are hoping we can get this information and these updates prior to the end of the fiscal year. >> reporter: that was maria referring to the fact that the city allowed recommendations last may. public commenters were quick to point that out.

some of you did not keep the commitments that you voted for. it was a frustrating meeting, i think. >> reporter: she is part of a group called mental health first. part of the anti-police terror project. >> our purpose is to interrupt and eliminate the need for law enforcement by providing de- escalation assistance, nonpunitive resources, interventions. >> reporter: she urged the council to lead and on police response tactic. the council started rounding some calls solely to the fire department and paramedics directing city staff to come up with a more long-term option. they also voted for the use of

force guidelines set and a potential initiative to be placed on the ballot that would create a police oversight commission. all of this, they hope to finalize by the end of june. san francisco attorney says there is no evidence that the attacks including this one targeting an asian father were racially motivated. police arrested sidney hammond after this incident in mission bay, last week. he also faces an aggravated assault charge. as the bay area experiences a spike in crime, the city of santa clara is providing a pathway. today, city leaders held a virtual workshop to teach bystanders what to do. the seminar included how to safely de-escalate various

san francisco is the first bay area county to move into the least restrictive tier. the high school could be renamed after archie williams. a committee has recommended the name. williams was born in oakland and attended berkeley and won a gold medal at the 1970 olympics in berlin. he was also one of the first black pilots in world war ii. the high school decided to change names last year because sir francis drake was associated with the slam trade. great entertainment has always been a part of san francisco. san francisco's glide ensemble gave us a little sample of the song they will sing next sunday. the choir has been performing for years.

in tonight's headlines, fire danger has put parts of the area on alert. firefighters say it chart about 3 acres before they could put it out. a wildfire burned about 25 acres in venetia and winds sparked a red flag warning. >> we are tracking gusty winds. the north bay mountains, the east bay hills and the inland east bay at the highest fire threat. we will take a much closer look at these winds in your forecast. in the north bay, residents who have been through fire season before are ramping up for an early start. the san francisco fire department is saying two tools will enhance their ability.

california condors are an endangered species with only about 160 of them flying free. seeing one is pretty rare. what happened to one southern california homeowner was unexpected. the birds just trashed her deck knocking over a planter, ruining a spa cover. daughter posted pictures of the damage. now nichols is talking about the ordeal saying she counted at least one dozen condors on her deck and several
