a busy day for fire fighters as wind combined with dry conditions whipped up fires. several parts of the bay area remain under a red flag warning for another 24 hours. the last time we saw a red flag warning in may was seven years ago. good morning, it's sunday, may 9. happy mother's day. we're going to start with a look at the weather with meteorologist lisa and happy mother's day to you too, lisa. >> thanks, liz. happy mother's day to all the mothers out there. it's going to be another warm and breezy day with elevated fire danger once again and temperatures climbing quickly again and those winds still offshore out of the north and a

live look at live doppler 7 cloud free and winds gusting and red flag warnings in the north bay and the valleys of the east bay till 6:00 on monday morning and 42 miles an hour and mount diablo and mount selena 40 miles an hour and 7 degrees and 9 degrees warmer at the coast this morning with 50s no oakland and 60s in concord and 61 in nevado and mother's day 50s and 60s by 8:00 noontime and 50s at the coast and inland 90s well by the delta and upper 70s around the bay and another warm one and we'll talk about even warmer weather to start liz. san jose fire fighters battled two fires near the gulf yesterday. it burned about three acres and fire fighters say it burned

through a couple homeless encampments and a couple oak trees. nobody was hurt and crews got the fire under control within a few hours. in the afternoon, a fire burned about two acres near lagos golf course in san jose and fire fighters got that under control pretty quickly w well. in solano county it didn't take long to get a fire under control. the winds pushed the fire to about 45-acres. cornell bernard was right there as fire fighters fought to get it under control. under control

fire conditions. >> it's keeping me up at night and hopefully the homeowners are doing their due diligence. >> anthony has seen fires near his home before and ready for another long summer. >> it's like one month ago it was all green and now it's all golden and dry but the fires are real bad. >> grass fires so large has fire fighters concerned and it's hot and dry and feels like june or july and of course it's only may. despite what we've heard from the homeowner, cal fire says they're investigating the cause of the fire and using a lawn mower should be avoided during a red flag alert. in the north bay, this early start to fire season has many residents on age and they've been through fires before but not that early. abc7 news reporter spoke to a santa rosa family who survived the tubs fire in 2017 and this fire season they're hoping their home is spared.

>> that's my husband and he's actually looking for any kind of souvenirs or something that may be spared but unfortunately. >> in october of 2017, they woke up to their neighborhood engulfed in flames. almost four years later, we're experiencing a red flag warning, two months ahead of what fire fighters anticipated. >> it's hard to bring it up to my parents but we all know it's here but we don't like to talk about it. i know it's in the back of owl after our minds. >> the warning has been in effect since 11:00 p.m. friday and will go on till 6:00 a.m. monday. humidity and high temperatures in the upper 80s, playing a key role. >> this condition has been through a lot and the red flag warning and the clear information we're putting out is not intended to scare people but to make sure people understand what the conditions are and they're taking those preventative proactive

rocket ship and clear skies this morning and sunny and warm with breezy offshore winds looking at cooler weather arriving for everyone midweek into next weekend. that's good news and that'll raise the relative humidity getting the on shore flow and winds coming over the cold ocean waters and 9:00 this morning we're breezy along the coast near 30 miles an hour and by 6:00 for each and even 45 miles an hour here and got 20 to 26 miles an hour and a lot like yesterday looking at the winds. by 6:00 monday morning, they're lighter but we still will look for that area of high pressure to actually strengthen on monday. that's why we'll be warmer. 3:00 today and relative humidity by the delta and inland anywhere from 9 to 20% so this will be our driest time period and we go through about 8:00 and a bit of recovery and the most recovery into early tomorrow and see 81% as we get

into your 7:00 monday but getting through the afternoon, check in out, we're down to below 10% again over the east bay hills and numbers will be well into the 90s here and 4:00 about 5% relative humidity and desert dry and look at highs on monday, low to mid 90s will be a hot one looking at the afternoon even near 80 again over in oakland. san francisco weather and wednesday is here and warm inland and after that we'll cool down. this will take a while of course for our friends over the east bay hills but 76 in oakland in napa and mid 80s in livermore and 82 in san jose and 10 degrees above average and low 70s and it'll feel good but we'll have those breezy on
