officer seen here saving a 4-year-old victim. bill and melinda gates' $4 billion divorce. the role jeffrey epstein may have played. and this moment captured at the zoo between a gorilla and a 5-month-old baby. the special mother's day meeting. and good monday morning, emp. ewith begin with that cyberattack targeting a major gas. line that sflooi supplies the eastern united states. >> right now officials say there's no time line for when that pipeline might reopen, but we're learning more about the cyber criminal group believed to be responsible for the attack. >> we could soon see average gas prices spike to over $3 per gallon. that would be the first time since 2014. >> reporter: analysts say gas prices could hit a three-year high today after that cyberattack on the country's largest fuel pipeline.

>> it's crucial to have this pipeline in service. if it drags on beyond say three or four days, we may start see some supply challenges. >> reporter: the colonial payline supplies 40% of the fuel to the east coast. its 5,500-mile network. the company halted all operations following the attack. some smaller terminals of the pipeline are now running again, but overnight, gasoline futures jumped to the highest since may of 2018. >> another concern is panic buying. analysts worry that nervous consumers could drain gas supplies which would also push prices higher. >> reporter: a european criminal organization appears to be spobl. that group is known as dark side which operates mostly out of russia. the biden administration is now allowing truckers who deliver fuel to states impacted by the shutdown to drive more hours than normal each day.

>> it's an all hands on deck effort right now, and we are working closely with the company, state and local officials to, you know, make sure that they get back up to normal operations as quickly as possible. >> reporter: it's the biggest in a string of recent cyberattacks. in december, solar winds, a company that provides software to the company and fortune 500 companies suffered a massive software breach, and in february, investigators say a person took control of the computer systems of a water treatment facility in florida. authorities say these type of attacks are here to stay. >> we have seen attacks on critical infrastructure over the past five years, but nothing of this size and scope, but also it kind of foretells this is what life is likely to be like in the future. >> reporter: senator bill cassidy says talks like this are needed. >> the implications like this

for national security cannot be overstated and i promise you this is something that republicans and democrats can work together on. >> colonial pipeline has not said what if anything the hackers have demanded. gas isn't the only thing getting more expensive. "the wall street journal" says consumer prices are up almost% since last year. warren buffet saying they weren't expecting this. kellogg says the price of frosted flakes, cheese-its and pringles will be going up. meanwhile, lumber prices have hit a record, and because of a shortage of computer chips, car prices are surging. most experts say this inflation will likely be temporary. a lot of americans need cash, and a survey shows that could be one way to boost the covid vaccination rates. 48% of adults have received at least one dose, but we could get more guidance on wearing masks.

abc's alex presha is here with here. alex, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, andrew. congrats and happy first day. health officials say we are gaining ground, but in order sustain it, we need more people to get vaccinated. states are continuing to incentivize americans. this morning, signs the u.s. is gaining ground in the fight against the coronavirus. cases are now at a seven-month low. >> i would say we are turning the corner and the light at the end of the tunnel is brighter and brighter. >> reporter: dr. anthony fauci said as vaccination numbers go up, it may be time to relax restrictions even more, even things like wearing masks indoors. >> the cdc will be almost in realtime, george, updating their recommendations and their guidelines, but yes, we do need to start being more liberal as we get people vaccinated. >> reporter: the cdc reports more than 14 million americans are fully vaccinated, but the daily doses administered have dropped to now under 2 million.

>> i thought maybe wait a little bit and see how that goes. >> reporter: state leaders are trying to combat hesitancy like this. starting today, los angeles will offer vaccines without an appointment, and in buffalo, new york, the local health department partnered with a microbrewery to give free beers to anyone who got their first shot. nearly 150 people showed up. and a new survey found one-third of vaccine skeptics would get the shot if they got $100 incentive. >> i think a better benefit would be what we talked about with cdc guidelines. perhaps those who were vaccinated could not wear their mask in certain scenarios, travel easy or have different types of access to private businesses. that's the real incentive not necessarily money. >> reporter: next up, vaccina vaccinating 12 to 15-year-olds. the fda could grant the use of pfizer in teens as early as today. meanwhile overseas, india continues to struggle. the countr reported more than 400,000 new cases in just 24 hours, including more than 4,000

rained down on saudi arabia's capital. we're now hearing from a rhode island tourist who along with her 2-year-old daughter survived a shooting in times square this weekend. another child was also involved in the terrifying ordeal caught on camera being rushed to an ambulance after being shot. >> reporter: this morning, police are looking for this man identified as farakhan mohammed. he was trying to shoot his brother in the middle of times square when three innocent bystanders, including a child were shot. >> i saw a police officer and i screamed to him. i was, like, i'm shot. i have a 2-year-old. i don't want to die. please help me. >> reporter: wendy was visiting times square with her family when just before 5:00 p.m., she heard two men arguing. she told her family to run inside a store. moments later, shots rang out. the crowd seen her running from the gunfire. a bullet struck her in her thigh, but she managed to hand off her 2-year-old daughter before collapsing.

>> i was able to run, like, five steps, and i told my mom to take the baby and run. i really thought i was going to die. i kept saying to my husband, please get her. >> reporter: her daughter was not hurt, but another woman was shot in the foot, and a 4-year-old girl in the crowd was shot in the calf. that 4-year-old can be seen in this video being carried by a police officer who was rushing to an ambulance for help. magrinaw was in that same ambulance and saw that girl being carried in. >> she wasn't even crying. she was amazing. that little girl is brave. >> reporter: that officer is alyssa vogel, herself the mother of a 6-month-old. she describes that girl as the strongest little girl she's ever seen. >> the girl needed surgery, but will be okay. police say the suspect is an illegal vendor in the area, and we will hear more from officer vogel later this morning on "good morning america." queen elizabeth's cousin is accused of trying to sell access to russian president vladimir
