it encompasses the central valley, nearly 3 1/2 million people there and more than 1 million people here, which a lot of that is into the space valleys but we've also got the east bay held in the northbay mountains and the diablo range and part of this. right now, our winds are fairly quiet, but notice they are going to ramp up, especially where we live into the afternoon and early evening hours. it will be fastest in our hills tonight, when our relative humidity will be some of the lowest also, so fire conditions will drastically become even more dangerous and worse as we had to the overnight hours. as far as temperatures, it'll definitely be warmer today. 65 in half moon bay, 75 in san francisco. 80s into the bay and san francisco, 90s in the northbay and jobina? developing news on peninsula, a stretch of el camino real and redwood city closed following the deadly crash that appears to have involved a pedestrian. this happened on el camino riel near lincoln avenue overnight. redwooroosevt avenue. we are waiting on more details about what exactly happened here and we will bring you updates as we get them. kumasi? thank you, jobina.

you heard mike mention the fire danger is in the east bay hills and he and dry weather is really making a dangerous combination. abc7 news news reporter amy hollyfield, near berkeley hills with more on this red flag warning. amy? >> reporter: fire department like this one will be on high alert today. the fire danger is high for the east bay hills, where we are also the east bay values, and those northbay mountains. there was a fire over the weekend. 45 acres burned in venetia, and the wind really whipped this one up, a residence at his lawnmower may have sparked it while he was out trying to cut the grass, just like that, 45 acres gone. firefighters say what's really startling this year is how early this is happening. >> you have a recipe that we typically would see in the summer, but we are already seeing it may. if you look around the bay area, you can see the hills are already brown, okke

summit at the santa rosa congressman will leave the event. they will explores solutions and approach drought conditions in the watershed. late last month, sonoma county declared a drought emergency. according to the press democrat, mandatory water rationing has started in some parts of the county like cloverdale and healdsburg. they are relying on voluntary conservation measures in other areas. if you want breaking weather alerts like this one, just download the abc7 news apps. pfizer covid-19 vaccine could get emergency authorization for 12 to 15- year-olds. that could start as early as today. a comes as cases across the country are dipping to a seven month low. jobina is at the live desk with more on what health officials are saying about using restrictions. jobina? >> the cdc reports more than 114 million americans are fully vaccinated, but the demand for

doses has declined. the average daily doses administered has dropped from 3 million a month ago to now under 2 million. dr. anthony fauci says, as more people get vaccinated, it could be time to relax restrictions, even more on things like wearing masks indoors. >> the cdc will be updating their recommendations and their guidelines. but, yes, we do need to start being more liberal as we get more people vaccinated. >> meantime, cdc director dr. rochelle walensky says she expects pfizer to get fda authorization for vaccinating teens as young as 12, as soon as today. pfizer is also planning to apply for full approval of its covid-19 vaccine. reminder, they have emergency use authorization right now. it'll likely take several months for the fda to review data and make a decision. kumasi? thank you, jobina. there are less than four weeks left in the school year. starting friday, seniors will have their choice to go back to in person classes. the return date is one day before the may 15th deadline needed for the school district to receive a portion of california's $2 billion grant

in funds for reopening. there are nearly 4000 high school seniors. the teachers union says around 500 of them said they would be willing to go back to in person classes. >> united educators of san francisco realized there was an opportunity to bring seniors back to school before they graduate. >> we were busy getting all of the other mo use done, plus it wasn't certain whether it was possible to do it. >> the district will reveal more details at its board meeting tomorrow. graduation ceremonies are scheduled outdoors from june 1st to june 3rd. in the south bay, santa clara county officials are teaming up with the 49ers to host a three-day vaccination clinic for teenagers. it'll be a levi ursday, r 16 to 19-year- olds, kids, and their families. they will also get a chance to tour part of the stadium and get some 49ers flag. donna clare county leaders plan to talk about the vaccination event today at a news conference at noon. other news and will be in

oakland today to unveil an economic recovery package. on mother's day, the governor announced a major multimillion dollar expansion of services aimed at helping working moms. >> so for mother's day, i can assure you, we have the backs of mothers and we will be making investments to solve real problems. >> he is proposing 100,000 additional childcare slot, which the newsroom administration says is the largest expansion in state history. they will also allocate millions more in funding for child care providers. and an additional $200 million to support career paths for home care workers. the news conference on his full economic recovery package is set for 10:00 this morning. the man accused of stabbing two asian seniors street in san francisco is expected to appear in court today. 54-year-old patrick thompson didn't show up for his first court appearance on friday. thompson has a criminal record, including assault with a deadly weapon. he is set to be arraigned later

this morning. the two seniors are recovering in the hospital from serious injuries after being stabbed last week. the board of supervisors is inspected to pass a resolution tomorrow, aimed at supporting survivors of sexual violence. the resolution also aims to eventually toughen the vetting process to hire county employees. this comes as yet another woman has accused windsor's mayor of misconduct. former mayor told the conical dominic foppoli climbed on top of her and he exposed himself in 2015. she said happened in a hotel room while they were attending a conference. he faces accusation of sexual assault from several women. he is refusing to resign. she cheated saying, quote, it is a problem and a symptom of a problem. what he did to me is wrong and what he did to the six women who have spoken out against him was wrong.'s attorney released a statement saying, quote, i don't think these allegations warrant a response from mr. foppoli more than he has stated previously. he adamantly denies engaging in any nonconsensual conduct with

know injuries are involved. i want to show you our live camera of emeryville. it does look a little hazy there in the shot. you can definitely see all those headlights. traffic is backed up through berkeley. and because of that, the metering lights of the bay bridge toll plaza were flipped on a little earlier. they came on it 5:50 morning. if you are traveling on westbound 80 from berkeley all the way down, expect delays. reggie? jobina, thank you. two college students had to be rescued off the coast of santa barbara when their homemade boat lifted off into the ocean. they used duct tape to hold together 20 buckets and two plastic kiddie pools on a piece of plywood. they went out on the water early saturday morning and it didn't take long before the tide pushed their boat out too far from shore. they were unable to make their way back. someone spotify spotted them and notified authorities. no alcohol was involved in they called the incident nautical nonsense. it was. a giveaway for healthcare

tonight, the highest fire danger in our hills. of the red flag warning continuing to 6:00 tomorrow evening. mid to upper 80s down in the south bay today. low to mid 80s for the rest of the peninsula. look at these mid to upper 60s along the coast, even mid to upper 70s in downtown south san francisco and sausalito. upper 60s, northbay coast, near 90 your valleys. along the east bay shore, low to mid 80s. are hottest temperatures in the east bay valleys, low to mid 90s. a lot of air-conditioners probably running this afternoon. remember, 4:00 to 9:00, that extra high electricity rate kicks in. inland heating, look at us, low to mid 90s through the central valley all the way down to the palm springs peer coach will be comfortable everywhere, 60s and 70s there. see the green in the hills, 60s and 70s because of the winds. the rest of us will be right around 50 to 55 degrees, like this morning. tomorrow will be almost like today. the breezes will taper. today they will ramp up, tomorrow they will taper.

looks like june in early may. reporting live in berkeley, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. amy, thank you. caltrans will trim trees and clear brush along highway 13 in oakland this week to reduce fire danger. southbound lanes of 13 behind 24 and interstate 580. lanes and on and off ramps will periodically shut down to give more crews room to work. developing news in the shutdown of the critical gas pipe i'm in the u.s. the fbi is saying and eastern european criminal organization is responsible for this cyber attack that forced the colonial pipeline to shut down. the pipeline 5500 mile network carries gas, diesel, and jet fuel from texas to new jersey. this ongoing shutdown could be affecting gas prices and the covid-19 vaccine supply chain. >> it's not like you can just turn the computers back on again. they are infected. it is going to take time.

pain, fever, chills and fatigue, especially after getting the second dose. the authorization would open up access to this vaccine to millions. this morning, india is at a breaking point, headed toward 1 million covid-19 related deaths. jobina, this comes as cases to continue to go up. the medical system is nearing collapse. >> reggie comments devastating. doctors in india say they are beyond capacity in their icus. there aren't enough nurses, doctors, or supplies to treat all of those who have contracted the virus. in just the past 24 hours, more than 400,000 new cases, and more than 4000 deaths have been reported. experts believe those numbers are drastically under reported. one estimate predicts 1 million people in india could die from covid-19 by august. >> we have seen death and patience at the gates of the emergency. these are lives that could've been saved. >> india is the world's largest vaccine producer, but inside the country, there is a massive shortage, only about 2% of the
