bridge and head over to san francisco. in fact, here is a look at what is going on. you can see the gray blanking a lot of us. not making into the east bay valleys yet. that is more tomorrow's forecast. it is particularly thick across the north bank and along the coast. with the seabreeze pushing east, and will increase through 9:00 a.m. and pushed to the coast. will have high clouds and sunshine and 58 in half moon bay today. a little bit cooler across the board. developing news. all northbound lanes on 680 have now reopened following this deadly crash. one person and a dog were killed. the dog was in the car hit after escaping the crash. the driver was taken to the hospital and then arrested. it is not clear what caused the car to crash. we will bring updates as they come in. today the cdc will vote on whether to recommend the pfizer covid-19 vaccine to kids 12 through 15 years old. this comes two days after the fda extended emergency use authorization. >> reporter:

panel meeting is the next step to get shots in younger kids. today they will look at whether kids can get the covid-19 vaccine at the same time as other vaccines. pediatricians are preparing for authorization, getting super hold freezers and training staff in figuring out record- keeping. a kaiser permanente study found child vaccinations plunge during the pandemic. doctors say getting kids up to date on all vaccinations, including the covid-19 vaccine, will be key to keeping americans healthy. >> getting more of our population vaccinated is critical to moving forward. >> reporter: this afternoon the cdc will also get an update on the rare blood clotting cases tied to the johnson & johnson vaccine. if the cdc gives the green light to pfizer, 12 through 15- year-olds to start getting shot as soon as tomorrow. next month the fda will be to talk about officie hoping to vaccat by giving away free boba t. this is happening at the walk-in clinic for kids 16

at up at gilroy high school from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 pm this afternoon. levi stadium has turned into a vaccination destination this week. high schoolers 16 and up and get shots in exchange for some 49ers swag and gift cards, including a bobblehead and $10 gift cards to starbucks or chipotle. >> there is no waiting time. i think it is very convenient. it is not much of a cost to come here for a few minutes to get a shot. >> the 49ers are also offering a free tour of their locker room. the vaccination event continues tonight and tomorrow night from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. you do not need an appointment. the san francisco bay uber and live live are offering free rides to vaccination sites until july 4. your partnering with the white house in an

effort to get 70% of american adults to get at least one dose by that date. users will start see the features in the next two weeks. on the peninsula, san mateo county officially in the yellow tier this morning enjoining san francisco as the only other bay area county to reach the least restrictive tariff. nearly every other county is in the more restrictive orange, except for solano county, which is still stuck in the red. state that indicates santa clara county could move to yellow next week. education as part of our focus of building a better bay area. this morning we're learning more about the plan to get san francisco high school seniors back in the classroom before the end of the school year. starting a friday, students who choose to go back would have around three days on campus, but we know this plan has left some disappointed. >> reporter: according to the san francisco examiner, this plan was heavily criticized last night at the school board meeting wirent cal and saying the district is doing the least it can do. and some are saying it is an obvious money grab. the plan will bring back seniors starting a friday, but they will only be back for about three days

building before the end of school, which is june 2. there is not much time left. and there won't be any teachers at the school. students will watch the teachers on zoom. they will be supervised, but won't have teachers there. but the district will qualify for $12 million from a state law passed to encourage schools to bring kids back for in person learning. a sponsor of that bill that represent san francisco has said he is absolutely shocked this violates the spirit of the law and that the plan was to reopen schools and keep them open. some students may not even be assigned to show up at their own school. a local senior who agrees to come back maybe assigned to another high school where they have more supervision planned for them. the seniors hoping to get back to school one last time, that might not even materialize under this plan.

southbound 680 at 780 . it is officially cleared. san francisco has extended the hourly hauser to pay for grocery a drugstore employees. in march the board of supervisors voted to require large chain stores to raise pay by five bucks per hour. it was originally supposed to expire next week, but the board unanimously approved an extension through june 15. that is the day governor newsom says california is inspected reopen the economy and lift more restrictions. cracking down on hate crimes against the asian american community. the new bureau that

this morning violence erupting in the mid east. more than 30 people, including 10 kids, are dead after israeli airstrikes targeted hamas offices in gaza city. they are the worst strikes in the region since 2014. >> reporter: the israeli military says it has killed several senior hamas militant commanders in the airstrikes and more than 200 people were injured. a residential high-rise was among the targets of the israeli defense forces. residents reportedly evacuated the tower before it was struck and collapsed. official said the military was targeting hamas weapons stores hidden inside civilian buildings in gaza. 1 to 300 rockets were reportedly fired into gaza over an 18 hour span. amounts later retaliated with rockets fired a tel aviv. protesters marched in new york city in support of palestine. the mounting unrest comes after weeks of violence in jerusalem and heavy fighting between israel and hamas militants in the gaza strip in recent days. it is rooted in a long dispute over contested jerusalem. has introduced legislation that would ban so-called ghost guns in the city. ghost guns or unregistered weapons that can be built at home using parts. they don't have serial numbers, the law enforcement cannot trace them. police say there has been a big rise in shootings because these weapons are used more on the streets. this proposal would ban the possession and sale of ghostwritten kits and parts, and that would be the first of

a new uc berkeley pole look at the approval rating of governor newsom. in san francisco high school seniors set to return to school. the controversy surrounding the plan. a morning everybody. we want to start with a look at the forecast with mike. good morning mike. >> good morning. hi everybody. we will start by looking at the fog on live doppler 7. visibility in the bay. but less than one quarter mile places like petaluma. if you put the wins in, they are coming up from the south along the coast and then shooting through the san bruno gap . it is also shooting through the golden gate bridge. that you have it also shooting in through those coastal valleys of the north bay.

plan to tackle the homeless crisis. he wants to invest $12 million with the goal of ending family homelessness within five years. here is how the money would be used. nearly $8.8 billion for 46,000 homeless housing uses and affordable apartments. $3.7 billion for homeless prevention and rent little support and $1.5 billion the cleanup roads and public spaces. governor newsom rolled up his sleeves to announce a beautification plan the clean california initiative that will create 15,000 new jobs. the goal is to remove 2100 tons of trash over three years, which is three times the size of the rose bowl. the governor has proposed an additional $100 million to hire local artists to paint in public spaces. his approval rating is going up as he faces a recall election. according to a uc berkeley poll

52% of voters approve of the job he is doing, that is up from 46% in january. 43% now disapprove. nearly half the people surveyed plan to vote against the republican backed recall. 36% support the recall. the poll also found so far there is no clear republican front runner among registered voters. just a few minutes go house republicans voted to remove wyoming congresswoman liz cheney from her spot as conference committee chair. she has consistently called out former president trump for falsely claiming that the election was stolen. >> reporter: congresswoman cheney is the highest ranking republican who voted to impeach the former president four months after the january 6 insurrection, she was voted out of her leadership spot. she told reporters after the vote this morning that she did not feel betrayed, but she is vowing to keep on fighting to prevent trump from ever making his way back into the oval office. she called trump out and says he "risks inciting further violence." she addressed republicans in a fiery speech last night. >> i will not sit back and watch in silence while others

increase in july. the board of directors reviewed a budget proposal yesterday that calls for 4% bumps in rates this year and next. utility would spend the money upgrading pipelines and wastewater treatment plants, among other things. a vote for that is scheduled on june 8. san jose taking action to deal with illegal fireworks during the drought the council members voted to hold people liable if the host gatherings with illegal fireworks. that includes liability for fire damage. the san jose fire department plans to ramp up enforcement of the july 4 holiday. they will you surveillance drones and launch online reporting tools. it is going to be dry. you know that for sure. even drier than normal. we will see what happens. let's take a look at at the south bay. we mostly sunny conditions. you can see a little bit of thought tried to creep up, but i don't think it will march too much north heading through the morning. get used to the low to mid 50s and mostly sunny conditions. mid-to upper 40s in the north bay and along the coast. san francisco else pretty much in the 50s. let's talk about the kids. a little fog out there. is there walking to school or the bus stop, will be a little hard to see in foggy areas. please be careful. posted speed limits are that way for reason. 53 at 11:00 a.m. along the coast. it will never warm up.

back to you. today is a big day for football fans. the 49ers announced their first game of the season. they will face the detroit lions in week one. the first monday night football game could also be exciting for fans. >> it is a terrific matchup, the ravens against the raiders in las vegas. the raiders led by the legendary coach will have the support of the home fans in las vegas that night for the very first time. >> the game will be on september 13, and of course, you can watch it right here on abc7. the nfl is also adding an extra regular-season game.
