recommendation in favor of expanding the use of that shot. kate larson joins us in joi newsroom to explain when young teenagers can get vaccinated in california. hopefully 12 to 15-year- olds can get vaccinated started tomorrow. the scientific advisory group met to just us the data and concluded the vaccine is safe and effective for 12 to 15-year- olds. the california department of health officially recommended the vaccine for that group. pediatricians are gearing up to vaccinate patients at the doctor's office. >> this is the vaccine refrigerator. the temperature control is very accurate.>> reporter: the san francisco offices are ready for the covid-19 vaccine. >> when we get it, i promise we will be here on evenings and

weekends. dr. dana has been in close communication with the california department of public health about receiving and administering the pfizer vaccine, which is authorized and endorsed by the fda and cdc for use in 12 to 15-year-olds. >> if anybody is equipped to give vaccines to kids, it's pediatricians. we have the storage freezers. we have the protocols all set up to give vaccines. we do this on a daily basis. >> reporter: the cdc is updating guidance to allow the covid-19 vaccine to be administered simultaneously with other childhood vaccines, rather than waiting two weeks. >> whenever there is a change, we have to convince the parents of the change is safe. we were not give your child the vaccine that is not safe. i am pretty excited to get vaccinated.>> reporter: this family showed up, hoping to ndeadavid and sophie vax needed. the store was not able to accommodate them just yet.

to the newly eligible group tomorrow. parental or legal guardian consent is required. all children must be accompanied by an adult. california could ease the mask mandates. on june 15, the state is scheduled to reopen its economy fully. the governor says he hopes to lift restrictions on outdoor masks at that time. indoors may be a different story. >> for the indoor activities, we will still have some mask guidelines and mandates. we do hope, sooner rather than later that those will be lifted as well. california requires mask in most indoor settings outside the home and on public transit or on vaccinated and vaccinated people. counties will be allowed to have stricter guidelines. the governor announced a total $20 billion in school funding, the highest level in state history. >> people are not left behind

violence began one month ago in jerusalem where israeli police tactics during ramadan and the threatened eviction of palestinian families ignited protesting and clashes with police. tonight, in the south bay, a pro-palestinian rally in san jose denounced the israeli attacks. is 25 miles away from that demonstration, crowd gathered in support of israel. matt boone spoke with sides. >> reporter: at least 65 palestinians have been killed in gaza, including 16 children. seven people have been killed on the israeli side by rocket fire from gaza, including a six- year-old. thousands of miles away from israel and palestine, the passion and frustration of the crowd outside san jose city hall was palpable. >> at some point, we have to acknowledge that if you keep oppressing people, they will resist. >> reporter:'s family was forced from palestine in 1948, which he sees as one of the enduring factors in this conflict. >> if you have a group of

people that think they are god's gift to the world and they can steal any piece of land they want, there can never be peace in that region.>> reporter: that was echoed. he says he noticed a shift in support for palestine. >> we saw the reality of the plight of black people in this country. now, we are having a similar awakening to the reality of the plights and trauma of the palestinian people. >> reporter: across town in redwood city, differencing is a group gathered in support of israel. the mecca seems more intense than it has been. >> reporter: the rabbi expressed sadness about the violence coming from both sides, but worried the elements of the conflict could escalate here as well. >> i am also worried about my others and sisters in israel, the loss of all lives, and the potential for increased anti- semitism in oakland. >> we need to embolden those that are trying to de-escalate

the situation, and get back to peaceful coexistence. >> reporter: tyler gregory with the jewish community relations council says most israelis desire a two state solution but are drawn up by extremists. >> there are two peoples with deep ties to this land. if neither one will go anywhere, we might as well invest in both of them. to figure it out. >> reporter: in san jose, matt boone, abc7 news. new developments, police arrested two children for the assault and robbery of an 80- year-old asian man. the suspects are 11 and 17 years old. the police are still looking for a third suspect. they believe the 11-year-old was driving a car that had been stolen in oakland. this happened yesterday afternoon. the victim has minor injuries. the robbers took his watch. he believes this was a hate crime. this happens as police are showing a 300% increase in crimes against asian.
