and a few 70s inland. a mountain lion spots in oakland is now at the san jose zoo. it created quite a bit of excitement before he was tranquilized. >> we saw him in vernal heights and then on tuesday. last night around 10:00 the young male mountain lion ended up in a tree. >> a man sitting in a car looked at me and yelled get back inside, there is a cougar in the tree. i thought it was a joke but sure enough, police showed up, animal control. it became a whole it was very exciting. >> state wildlife officials decided to shoot a dart at the cat. they determined there was no way the mountain lion would

have found its way back in the wilderness on its own. >> in a couple minutes it climbed up onto the tree and up instairs. we allowed the drugs to take affect for about 15 minutes. at that point we went up and assessed and the mountain lion was well sedated. >> it was taken away in a crate. an oakland zoo veterinarian will evaluate him to make sure he has no health problems and the mountain lion response team will determine if he can be returned to the wild. changes could be coming to covid property cals. revisions to the pandemic requirements that have been in place last fall statewide. now amy hollyfield is live in santa clara county where officials are already considering changes. >> reporter: good morning. are you ready to return her to the office place and ditch these? that will be the discussion today. cal osha will be meeting to

discuss relaxing mask rules in the office place. the board will consider dropping the mask requirement if everyone in the room is fully vaccines and does not have covid symptoms. the proposal would also require social distancing. this would be one more step toward returning to normal. experts say so much of returning to normal hinges on the vaccine. >> vaccination is the tool we will use to protect our health, to reopen the economy, to get our kids back in school, us working again. >> businesses are watching this closely with many in the community telling us their number one focus is employee safety as people come back to the office, saying this is the whom stretch. we don't want to get it wrong now. if everyone in the loom is not vaccinated, the proposal calls for employees to wear face covering and stay six feet aport from other workers. if this passes today it will

head to the california administrative office of law for review. amy hollyfield, abc7u,am ar s untinee bay officials restrictions including eight bay area counties. in a statement the group said the next month is critical to insuring more people can get vaccines and businesses have time to prepare to align with the cdc guidance. last week the cdc announced it is safe for vaccinated americans to stop wearing masks in most situations. solano county is not part of the group that released the statement. you may be feeling fear, anxiety about returning to life back in office and classroom. but there are ways to combat those emotions. first, psychologists recommend focus ongoing what you can control. for example, you are responsible for your vaccination status, not anyone

cooler conditions around tomorrow morning. most likely our coolest morning moving forward. morning clouds, afternoon sunshine and seasonal temperatures start this weekend. here is a look at the clouds from the east at 280 and 17 at san jose. they will quickly fade away and the breezes will pick up again this afternoon. they won't be criteria level for a wind advisory. they will still be around 20 or 25 miles per hour. that will keep us in the 50s and 60s throughout the afternoon hours. here is future radar. until noon it is pretty quiet. we are seeing a few clouds develop here in lake county. watch what happens. those eventually bubble up and become showers and the potential for thunderstorms. these are going to slide down right across the divide between the bay area and the central valley. napa, solano and contra costa county could have a rogue shower, but rogue being the keyword. tonight, look at that, low to you were 40s.

good morning on this thursday, may 20. abc7 mornings is live right now on abc7 news, hulu live and wherever you stream. >> let's check on the forecast. meteorologist mike nicco is checking the winds for us this morning. >> good morning, hi, everybody. they are still pretty fast on top of tam. you can see they are around 23 to 43 miles per hour with 37 degrees. the windchills are actually in the 20s up there, but that is one of the lone, fast areas of wind. as you can see, most of the winds down where we live are significantly slower than this time yesterday. still 24 at novato, 22 at half moon bay but none of the mid to upper 30s like we experienced in the san francisco and parts of the peninsula. everybody else is 25 or lower,

a good trend. the wind advisory expired at 5:00. the likelihood of damaging winds should be other even though it will be a little breezy this afternoon. inland we barely have 70s. a slight chance of a shower in lake county that could slide into napa and solano county. most of the bay in the mid-60s. mid to upper 50s on the coast and san francisco. this morning cal osha is planning on talking about possibly ditching masks and other covid measures at work. this would be for people only going back to the office. amy hollyfield has more. >> reporter: the state will consider allowing people to return here to the office without their masks if they are vaccinated. th a key point of the meeting today among the cal osha board. they will discuss a proposal.

it would allow people to drop their masks if everyone in the room is vaccinated and do not have covid symptoms. santa clara county is one step ahead of the state. they said that office places are required to keep track of who in the office is vaccinated and who isn't. so, they are saying they are required to ask their employees. and businesses say they appreciate mandates like this, saying it makes it easy to have conversations about vaccinated with employees. >> we don't want to get it wrong now. this really helps us get it right. >> reporter: the proposal also would call for an end to social distancing. it does say if workers are not vaccinated everyone in office

let's talk about temperatures. mid to upper 40s through the tri-valley, even toward pittsburg, it is 49. we have 50 in concord, antioch and brentwood, 55 for milder temperatures. 51 around oakland, 49 in san francisco and san jose. here is a look at sfo. i wanted to show you this because, remember, yesterday the winds were gusting to 37 to 38 miles per hour. now they are about 16. definitely less aggressive. temperatures will stay in the 40s through 7:00. mid-50s from noon to 4:00 to 7:00 at the coast. low 60s around the bay, to 58 at 7:00 and mid-60s inland, 62 at 7:00. it will never really be warm today. if you are heading out this evening it is jacket weather once again. cross winds on the bridges. a small craft advisory on the water and brisk all day at mass transit stops. let's talk about the air quality. this is a good bi-product.

this damage. police arrived. they took her to jail but no s l palo alto police want to find the thieves that stole purses worth more than $150,000. here are pictures from yesterday afternoon. investigators say at least ten people were part of this coordinated grab and run neanst shopping center. they stole a total of 43 bags. some were physically rib from the security cables. the group got away in three different cars. a san francisco woman brutally attacked on bart is sharing her story. she is hoping to raid awareness. the 34-year-old was punched and robbed of her phone tuesday morning while she was riding the train, going to work in the civic center. she typically wear as small purse with her hair back in a more like a boy. she also carries pepper spray. all the measures not enough to ward off this attacker.
