updated numbers, the general has zero covid hospitalizations. >> it feels like a milestone. there are zero admissions at san francisco general. >> the news comes just four to five months after what was a very challenging time in the fight against covid-19. >> i think december and january were our busiest time when we were facing a third wave of cases and we were extremely busy here in the hospital. >> but dr. jane of sf general says the huge acceptance of vaccines among san francisco residents, where 76% of the population has received at least one shot, has helped lead to lower covid rates city wide and that's reflected at general. all my friend haves been vaccinated all ready. and like yeah. finally. it's feeling good. i'm hopeful. >> ucsf reps tell us they have

five patients being hospitalized for covid-19 within their hospitals. stanford telling us they also currently have five hospitalized with covid. san francisco general had one to two over the course of the last several weeks. and now this. >> we are at that point where this is no longer a public health emergency. >> dr. jane tells me he doesn't believe covid is gone and feels they will have covid patients going forward but says thursday was a great day. jr stone, abc 7 news. san francisco's health director celebrated the 1 million dose vaccine milestone today. >> so exciting to celebrate 1 million doses. >> dr. grant colfax had a special message for his team and a cake. they also celebrated with a social media campaign honoring workers at vaccine sites with s the #sf1000000. san francisco loosening

restrictions on many activities. including attendees at outdoor sports and performances will not have to show proof of covid testing or vaccination. at restaurants diners no longer have to remain seated as long as they can distance. standing around a high top table or bar is okay. tattoo and piercing parlor customers can take masks off for services. >> hopefully it will mean more business so we can continue to pay our bills and support our families. >> health officials say the changes will bring the city more closely in line with state rules for now, governor newsome said the state will fully reopen june 15th. june 15th. ju just look at this. we saw some wild weather today. including hail in the north bay. in is video from lakeport. you can see a heavy mixture of rain and hail falling on that deck. look at this. coating cars. we also got reports of small

department to expedite the review of hate crime incidents. provide grants to local police to help them set up online reporting of hate crimes and expand public education campaigns to boost awareness. in the south bay, an effort to keep seniors in san jose's japan town safe from hate. abc 7 news reporter, amanda explains how volunteers doing community foot patrols are making a difference. >> red vests signal relief and reinforce m for seniors in san jose's japan town. part of japan town prepared the all volunteer community emergency response team, new foot patrols are focusing on preventing attacks against the elderly asian community. >> they're very exposed and very vulnerable. so i thought we had to do something to try to improve their safety. >> retired sj pd officer, rich, says the march 10th attack on an asian woman led him to launch the effort. right now 65 volunteers have been trained. >> walking around with a big group of people talking about

what to look for. what to be aware of. and how to respond and handle certain situations. >> one of the first people to answer his call to action was franco imperial. >> when we first started volunteering, we got a lot of thank yous and you know, sighs of relief that there were folks that had their back. >> imperial says japan town is no stranger to racism. pointing to the internment of japanese americans during world war ii. >> there's an awareness of our history, and the willingness of very kind hearted, warm hearted people to step up. >> these lengths to keep seniors safe from hate will ease once the pandemic is over. he's hoping that day will lift pressure off people who feel they need to lash out because of the lack of jobs, social interaction, and more. >> it gets to the point where we feel the community is safe again. then we can have patrols. but we're committed to staying with it. >> volunteers have come from all around the bay area, if you'd like to get involved,

documents in 1995 to land a bomb shell interview with her mother, princess diana, abc news reporter, marcy gonzales has the story. the bbc releasing results of an independent investigation, finding that journalist martin ba sheer deceived princess diana's brother in order to secure that bomb shell 1995 panorama interview watched by 23 million people. >> well, there were three of us in this marriage. so it was a bit crowded. >> former judge lord dyson leading the investigation finding bashir meeting showing fake bank statements. suggesting two employees were being paid to gather intell on the prin cbs. by gaining access to princess diana in this way. he was able to persuade her to agree to give the interview. it's quite clear from the introduction that i sat in on

area, north and east bay in the highest category. which is exceptional drought. that was declared today. i want to show you th we did h earlier was definitely a welcome sight. from the emeryville camera, we're looking back toward san francisco. and it's a stunning view tonight, chilly especially inland in the morning, we're looking at gusty winds and an isolated shower possibility tomorrow afternoon-evening. lighter winds and warmer weather coming your way for the second half of the weekend. gustywinds right now, 29 miles per hour in half-moon bay. 23 in in another breezy morning along the coastline at 8:00 a.m. the winds will ramp up toward the evening hours. 49, 33 miles an hour, that's because the low pressure system that brought us all the ray shy weather today will shift inland. the wind will be coming in on the backside of that low pressure system. by tomorrow night it moves far
