experiencing live music is just a really special thing. >> reporter: cliff eveland is executive director of the petaluma music festival which benefit public school music programs. they plan to host up to 4,000 people in august at the sonoma marin fairgrounds. as of now what are the safety plans the festival has in place? >> right now we are doing something very similar to the san francisco giants where you either need to be fully vaccinated two weeks prior to the festival or you need to have a negative covid test within 72 hours of the festival. >> reporter: eveland says they will turn people away if they don't have proper documentation. >> fingers crossed that things are going to continue to get better and we can drop some of the restrictions. >> reporter: kate larson, abc7 news. in the south bay more attractions are starting to reopen after being shut down for more than a year. this includes california's great america which returns for its 45th season tomorrow. park capacity will be limited to 35% at first to allow for

proper spacing under state guidelines. now some rows will remain empty on most rides and face coverings will be required. >> being able to interact with the guests when they get on the rides and off the rides and they're all yelling and screaming, happy to get back to that. >> the pandemic closure has allowed the park to make some progress on the new south bay shores water park. that will open june 5th. sister property gilroy gardens will also reopen this weekend. the san francisco 49ers will welcome back fans at full capacity this season. that means roughly 68,000 people inside levi stadium. two preseason games will be hosted at levi's in august followed by the 49ers home opener against the green bay packers september 26th. on the peninsula half moon bay is canceling its fourth of july parade and october's pumpkin festival. organizers say the logistics and finances this year are too

difficult and complicated because of pandemic restrictions. the pumpkin weighoff will still be held. uc berkeley will resume in apparently classes in the fall. cal had previously planned to start the semester with remote learning first to allow students and staff to be tested for covid. they are encouraging all students and staff to be fully vaccinated before the fall semester begins august 25th. tonight nationwide daily covid cases have fallen to under 28,000, proof experts say that vaccines are crushing the virus. >> as more and more people roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated, the number of cases and level of community risk is decreasing. >> this map shows the dramatic change in cases and hospitalizations from january to may. according to the cdc, more than 160 million people in the u.s. have at least one dose of the covid-19 shot. the memphis grizzlies are in the playoffs. they eliminate the golden state warriors. >> oh, a heart breaking loss

new details about the fire that burned dangerously close to a tv station. one person was arrested suspected of starting the fire deliberately. 23-year-old victor hernandez is also being investigated for other recent fires in the area. the fire has burned nine acres and damaged two homes. so far it's 80% contained. evacuation orders were lifted this morning. hayward police have released body camera footage of an incident involving two officers who shot and killed a man. we want to warn you this video may be difficult to watch. the shooting happened in march in the parking lot of a motel 6 on industrial parkway near whipple road. that's where officers found a car believed to be connected to a recent string of robberies. hayward's police chief spoke

today about what happened next. >> as officers approached the car, the driver accelerated striking police vehicles multiple times. this is when the officer- involved shooting occurred. unfortunately the driver, a resident from oakland, 22-year- old caleb smith, was killed. >> two passengers in the car were not hurt and were later arrested. investigators also found a gun in the car. they are now working to determine the group's possible connection to at least a dozen robberies in hayward dating back to december. new developments, the mayor of windsor resigned today after six weeks at the center of a sex scandal. multiple women have accused dominic foppoli of sexual assault, the latest according to the san francisco chronicle former teen mom reality tv star farrah abraham. she's the ninth possible victim. abraham filed charges against foppoli on april 2nd in palm beach, florida. her attorney says she has proof on video. it seems her accusation was the tipping point for foppoli to step down despite fighting a
