education is one of the foundations of building a better bay area no matter whether if it is person. at least one state assemblyman says the district should not get $12 million in extra funding which was meant as an incentive to reopen. land melendez explains. the plan to push school districts to reopen was meant to simple. have kids in the lower grades back in the classroom and fully reopen one entire middle or high school grade by may may ma

terminix. here to help. . the other governor newsome beating the recall election against him at the moment seemed fairly high but there are a number of unknowns that could shake up everything. among them who else is going to jump into the race? will it be another democrat? liz kreutz looks back at california's last recall to explore what it could mean if another democrat does in fact join the ballot. it was the big question for democrats in the 2003 recall of

davis and it is the big question again. should or could a democrat avid other than governor newsome -- other than gavin newsom get on the ballot? 2003 that is what happened. >> lieut. gov. bustamante became the first prominent democrat to throw his hat into the ring. >> he was a sitting lieutenant governor when he decided to throw his hat into the ring. he was of the camp that believed davis would lose so another democrat should be on the ballot as a backup. other democrats feared it would split the vote. >> we said there was no way on earth that they are going to elect another democrat if they're not happy with what is happening. they will elect a republican. >> to this day he disagrees. he points to the recall ballot which asks voters to separate questions. first should the governor be recalled? second, if the governor is recalled who should be the replacement? the sitting governor is not about to have their name on the second part of the ballot. >> didn't have arnold me on the governor on the ballot running against each other. if he hadn't been recalled to been no counting of the other

votes. i wouldn't have gotten one- vote. >> nearly 20 years later the debate over whether his decision hurt gray davis lost arnold still festers among california democrats. now, even more so with another recall on the horizon. a recent survey from the berkeley tutor of governmental studies found nearly half of democrats in the state want to backup democrat want a backup democrat. >> with all due respect to the former lieut. gov. cruz bustamante, they would like to follow his career path post 2003 by all means it is not a pathway to survival and relevance to put yourself on a ballot. >> so far of the dozens of people who have filed too run there are no prominent democrats on the list but there has been speculation about potential candidates. could antonio jump in?

we have seen capt. clay on about. about no mistake clay? klay thompson is rehabbing his achilles with a swim in the bay. wetsuit required followed by a moment of zen. >> i think it would be great to be klay thompson for a day or maybe a week except for the rehab with all of the injuries. he has a good life going. hopefully we will see him back on a basketball court. to circle back on the 80s, that are so many directions. if you really want to get it deal done my experience is not to slap you are trying to negotiate with. it is much harder to get something done that way. just my experience.
