passengers will have a better chance of getting picked up at this bus stop instead of getting passed by.ea be40 bu thbe allowed this is happening on buses in san jose and fairies in san francisco. both agencies have decided to allow passengers to sit three feet apart from each other instead of six. masks are still required on the buses and the ferrys. dta says 600 to 800 bus passengers a day were being passed over because the buses had already reached capacity. these new guidelines will allow them to carry more people which they say is critical for a public transportation and economic productivity. they say they are not out of the woods yet. that will not happen until they are at full capacity when that is allowed but this is a step in the right direction. passengers will be required to monitor the situation themselves and make sure they all stay three feet apart.

in san jose, amy hollyfield,ona proposal that would meet free to ride muni over the summer but the board of supervisors approved the program yesterday but mayor breed is expected to veto this because of a budget crunch. the goal was to commuters back with ridership still lacking because of the pandemic. this in fiscal scope unified laid out detail plans for in-person learning for the fall. education is one of the foundations of living a better bay area the matter if it's remote or in person. in a school board meeting last night the district superintendent vincent matthews announced all schools, all grades will start back august 16th full-time. start times will be limited to 7:50, 8:40, and 9:30. as for distance-learning, the state said it's not happening. the school districts that aeromod option may not be coletely nein rtain cases.ering what it will take and what it could look like to offer a very small, remote option, even as we await

of no-knock warrents, and create a national registry of police misconduct. the big sticking point has been whether to do away with protections that shield officers from civil lawsuits. many of the local activists who organized demonstrations last year are reflecting about what it if any progress has been made. san francisco mom, erin feher montoya organized a caravan for justice last june. months later she was pulled over for obstructing traffic on the golden gate bridge while protesting the death of breonna taylor. >> for people, especially white people, who are looking for it to be fixed, like, i don't think we're going to see that in our lifetime. but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do anything. >> it's just been very disappointing. the improvements are very minimal. you would expect them to be larger. >> 20-year-old open resident akil riley is a student at howard university. xavier brown is starting acting at ucla. lester the childhood friends mobilized 15,000 people in oakland to protest the murder of george floyd. abc news put together a

spring. let's take a look at this gorgeous moon and you can see is starting to move away from being completely covered. but you still have a few more minutes to get out there and enjoy it. do it during a commercial break. here's a look at the temperatures. we said it would be clearer and cooler and we are 11 degrees cooler. let's start on the east bay where we have low to mid 50s. 50 to 54 degrees. castro valley, union city, fremont come are even cooler in the mid to upper 40s. you will find some due on the car if you are sitting outside all night. that may be something you need to use the windshield wipers to clean off. temperatures mainly in the upper 40s and mid-50s. antioch, 61. we will keep using it until we can't see it anymore. by noon, you can see it's already as warm as yesterday. 54 at the coast. 76 inland. 70s and 80s this afternoon away from the coast. 50s and 60s, a nice evening on tap if you're going for a walk. warmer if you are at home outside this afternoon. it will also be breezy.

and that a woman and her husband will be in court this morning, chargers killing her children. grand jury has indicted lori vallow and chad daybell on a number of charges including murder and conspiracy. police discovered the children's remains on daybell's property last june. in this case, gained attention for the couple's doomsday beliefs. court documents allege their mother zombies and that she was on a mission to rid the world of such creatures. new developments in the killing of a tadaro-ott girl in antioch. a 19-year-old oakland man is under arrest and the deadly shooting two weeks ago. police say the girls found in

an upstairs bedroom at a home on oak haven way. u.s. marshals arrested the man at a home in oakland. investigators have not released emotive. a terrifying ordeal for low oakland's catholic bishop. michael barber. he revealed during sunday services he was robbed at gunpoint while out for a walk over the weekend. >> he said, give me your wallet, and i was terrified. i was afraid, you know. maybe this is it. >> bishop barber said he noticed a young man following him in front of the paramount theater on saturday. within seconds, arbor said the young man a slammed a gun onto his face. >> put it in my face and said, give me your wallet. give me the cash. give me the cash. so i gave him the cash. and he saw my bishops ring and said, give me that ring. so i gave it to him and i did say please don't shoot me. i'm a catholic priest. >> barber said the robber was young, perhaps in his early 20s

, and brody way on a bicycle. unfortunately, barber isn't the only victim. oakland police say they have seen a 50% increase in armed robberies this year compared to 2020. details on the 2019 explosion and fire at a fuel storage complex in crockett. he reports that improper grounding and static electricity likely caused this blast the new star facility. when the roof of the tank blew off, it landed on a second tank and that triggered another explosion. flames spread and caused a small grass fire. google is planning to transformed downtown san jose and it's one step closer to reality. last night city leaders voted to approve the downtown west project. the 80 acre megacampus willacre include a mix of housing, retail, public parks and enough office space for 25,000 people. there will be 4000 housing units with nearly a quarter expected to be affordable. the plan has received some pushback over the years but during last night's public comment., a majority supported

it. >> i think san jose is a city of alien people and should have a more vibrant downtown. and i think this is a good start. >> construction of downtown west will take place in several phases and could begin next year. amazon is facing a lawsuit. the district of columbia is accusing amazon of engaging in anticompetitive practices. the suit claims amazon fixes online retail prices for its contracts and policies for third-party sellers and accuses the company of blocking sellers on its marketplace from offering better deals elsewhere leading to higher prices for consumers. amazon is rejecting those claims. a specialty butcher that started in the bay area admits meat from a different company was mislabeled and sold at one of the chopped. del campo meat is known for selling high-quality, grass that, organic meat but now a former employee claims on social media it's a santa monica store that sold nonorganic, corn fed meat from other companies labeling them

is a good step in the right direction. in san jose, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. a new spot for kids 12 and up to get vaccinated in hayward. is the vaccine site at the hayward fire health clinic offering shot since january but now expanding to children starting today. you can schedule an appointment for this location on the city of hayward website, that is www.hayward.ca.gov. a d-19 vaccine is working. only a tiny percent of vaccinated americans are reporting breakthrough infections. that is when a person who is fully vaccinated comes down with a virus. the cdc says between january 1st and april 30th, there are about 10,000 reports of breakthrough infections out of 101 million vaccinated americans. that is just one hundredth of one percent. the cdc says there have been no concerning patents detected among those reported cases. the clock is ticking for billions of americans who got behind on the rent payment during the pandemic. the federal moratorium on evictions will expire june 30th the government now racing to allocate more than $40 billion

the greatest witchhunt in american history. he went on to say political and an effort, and in affronts, excuse me, to 75 million supporters. development is a possible sign the manhattan da is seeking charges after a two-year investigation. prosecutors are looking into a variety of matters including whether trump overvalued his properties to get loans, and deflated the value of those same properties to pay lower taxes. the da's office is investigating hush money payments made to women who said they had sex with trump. abc news has learned witnesses have already been contacted to appear before the grand jury which will reportedly meet for three days a week for up to six months. senators are trying to salvage legislation to create a commission on the january 6th insurrection at the capitol. republican senator susan collins and democratic sensor joe manchin led talks about potential changes to the commission in an attempt to overcome gop opposition. republicans are expected to block when brought up

for a vote. many republicans say they don't trust this will be a bipartisan effort. there is now a total of $200,000 on the line to find the person responsible for killing a six-year-old boy in southern california. apparently this was a road rage shooting. the orange county board of supervisors just approved spending $100,000 for any information leading to an arrest and conviction. the victim's family and an anonymous donor are offering $50,000. aiden leos was hit and killed last friday while in the backseat of his mom's car. governor newsom is talking about this tragedy in a new interview on gma 3 today. >> this tragedy comes home. four young kids. i have a five-year-old and a seven-year-old and a nine-year- old and an 11-year-old. to lose a six-year-old the backseat, a car seat, break sure heart in deep and raw, and emotional terms. whatever happens we need to hold the person that did that to account.
