samuel cassidy was scheduled to work wednesday, that is the day of the shooting. the union cassidy was part of confirmed officials were on the site wednesday, but not for disciplinary hearing or to on to any jobsite complaints. in the past couple of hours, the sheriff's office has released details about what they found in the shooter's house. he had a huge cachet of weapons, including a pot of ammunition on the stove investigators believe was used to start the early morning fire. abc7 reported laura anthony is live now with the very latest. >> reporter: we know that investigators have executed several search warrants at sam cassidy's home . late this afternoon, they told us exactly what they found inside that home and now we know how he said that fire to go off simultaneous with his shooting spree here at the railyard. >> there was a pot on the stove at the residence. the stove was likely turned on. inside the body, they located

ammunition. around the pot, there was accelerants. >> reporter: call it a makeshift method to ensure maximum destruction at sam cassidy's east san jose home. that is when investigators say the mass murderer simultaneously lit his home on fire while systematically killing nine coworkers at the railyard, 11 miles away. santa clara county sheriff released these photos of a huge cachet of ammunitions and firearms cassidy stashed around his residence. an estimated 25,000 rounds of ammunition, what dozen guns including shotguns, rifles and 17 molotov cocktails. >> it appears the molotov cocktails, which are incendiary devices, were in a state where they were ready to use. they were glass containers filled with liquids. it appeared to be flammable liquids . there was also some type of cloth or paper at the top of them, which can be set on fire in order to use that device. >> reporter: investigators

believe the reportedly disgruntled vta employee stashed his guns and ammunition throughout the house to be quote , ready to used. >> based on my experience, i would think it would be placed there to access them in a time of emergency if he was to be contacted by someone else or law enforcement. >> reporter: it is not clear at this point if the fire was meant as a means of destroying evidence or as a distraction. at the railyard, cassidy first killed several colleagues in building b, and then is captured in the surveillance video, call me walked over to building a, where he shot several more. as the investigation continues, sheriff laurie smith talked to wanda vta employee who had returned to pick up a personal car. >> i just happen to be here and i talked with her the day of the incident because she was one of the witnesses. so, i just asked her how she was doing. >> reporter: that cache of weapons at the house is separate from what cassidy brought here

to the railyard. investigators say he had three semi automatic handguns, more than 30 magazines of ammunition , and he fired off 39 rounds in all. >> laura, what about these guns we are talking about. do we know if they were registered to cassidy or if he purchased them legally, what are you hearing? >> reporter: dan, we asked that at the press briefing this afternoon. they say at this point, all they can say is they know that cassidy had at least some of those goals guns legally registered and legally purchased or they will investigate each and every one of them. of course, you had to remember, the ones in the house have been destroyed or damaged to some extent by the fire. we can also say those magazines of ammunition in many cases be once he had here at the railyard were over what california's limit is, that they carried more rounds than the legal

limit here in california. of course, all of that and each piece of info evidence will be investigated thoroughly. neighbors of vta suspect sam cassidy are expected to be allowed back into their homes tonight for the first time since being ordered out on wednesday. as abc7 reporter dustin dorsey shows us, today , police and fire investigators finished clearing the home, but not without an alarming discovery. >> reporter: two days after the mass shooting in san jose that left nine dead, authorities were still on the scene friday at the home of suspected shooter sam cassidy to try and uncover anything they could find . after uncovering molotov cocktails, multiple guns and thousands of rounds of ammo in the home, special operations captain steve longoria found something new. >> we found a new suspicious device and we are not sure what it is and we will render it safe. what that means is we will set off a small charge, just to basically destroy it so it will not cause further harm.

>> reporter: that small explosion you just heard was a save detonation of a suspicious device found at the home of sam cassidy. after further review, the device has been deemed safe. >> they discovered the device was in fact inert and was comprised of wires and batteries. due to the location of the item itself, it was located in the attic area of the residence. they took every precaution and safety measures. >> reporter: finding the device was no easy task according to san jose fire department antenna lace san jose police department. the home was deemed a water situation and boarded up. >> it was described as heavy by firefighters and is not habitable at this time. >> reporter: crews began to clear angmar court and neighbors learned they would be able to return to their home at some point this evening. >> i expected all of the stuff inside, i thought he was a normal person and i just found out and scared. now, i am safe here at my wife feel safe. >> reporter:

ara costri attorney jeff rosen d itr inw today. >> there is no indication that the department of homeland security shared that information from 2016 with anyone in local law enforcement. it was not shared with the da's office, certainly that is the kind of information that may be useful to law enforcement. >> reporter: both the vta and cassidy's union are denying published reports he faced a disciplinary hearing on the day he opened fire. transit union president wrote, i was to make it crystal clear that the atu local 265 officials who were at the site of this unfathomable tragedy were not, repeat, were not there to attend any disciplinary or scaly rights hearings or to respond to any jobsite or racial oriented complaints here and we are also hearing the words coworkers were concerned about cassidy's combination of anger issues and collection of weapons. rosen told me they checked and

no complaints came into local law enforcement or the das office about cassidy before wednesday's mass shooting. anyone could have tipped authorities to potential danger under the state's red flag laws. >> law enforcement will immediately investigate that here they will very quickly work with the das office and get in front of a judge and when we get a restraining order, we will immediately remove those guns. >> the vta also confirmed today that cassidy did not face any hearing the day of the shooting or in the past and had no hearings scheduled for the future as well. dan noyes, abc7 news. >> thank you, dan. family, colleagues and friends are all dealing with this unimaginable loss. the nine mailed men who were killed were workers, also husband, brothers and grandfathers. new video today shows a growing memorial outside of san jose city hall. thousands of community members packed the area last night for a vigil honoring the nine members.

santa clara investigators cleared the vta's gunmen 's home today. they say samuel cassidy's motive has yet to be determined. today, the union that the shooter was a part of that there was not a disciplinary hearing scheduled for wednesday, the day of the shooting. our i-team learned u.s. customs and homeland security did not notify the vta or santa clara county law enforcement in 2016, when they detained cassidy with terrorism books and a notebook listing grievances against the transit agency. >> the mass shooting has touched many here in the bay area and across the country of course moved by this awful event. unfortunately, some out there may type try to take advantage of you and your generosity. michael is here with some timely advice and these people who do this are despicable, but nonetheless, we need to be warned. >> they are there every time.

crowd source campaigns are a great way to get money quickly to those who need it. we found one campaign before even the first person was identified. this is what we found on gofundme at least an hour before police confirmed the names of the victims. later, the names were released. >> tonight, the county released the names of the eight people who were killed. >> reporter: a nice fatality would later be added. authorities say all those who were shot died. nowhere did we see or hear the name brad carson, the person the crowd source campaign was said to benefit. almost galvin of the better business bureau says that is a red flag. >> we all know what is going on and understand the story. we want to make sure the people being mentioned, you are able to verify they are one of the victims. >> reporter: she also says be cautious of any photos you see. >> a lot of the times the images you see on these gofundme pages, you could easily cut and paste into google

and see where these images are coming from. >> reporter: in this case, the image reportedly a brad carson was identified elsewhere as a croatian hiker named alan croson on a page earlier this year. we notified gofundme of our findings and by this morning, the site had been taken down. it is now assigned its trust and safety team to verify all campaigns related to this tragedy. it says anyone who has potentially been defrauded will be refunded their money. the bbb says schemes to try to take people's money are common in times of tragedy. >> more so with tragedies like this, the community does want to come together and help their neighbors. we do have those scam artists or people who want to take advantage of the situation. >> gofundme tells 7 on your side before any funds are transferred to an individual, their information, including banking information, must first be verified. that is the block, hopefully with these pack of scams.

>> great information, thank you, michael. we continue to uplift agent voices this asian-pacific heritage month with a spike in violence against aapi, one bay area organization is encouraging victims and their families to speak out against hate. abc7 reporter chris went as more on how they are providing support to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. >> reporter: on the gritty streets of the tenderloin, it can be easy for some to write off a neighborhood that has long been plagued with drugs and homelessness, for judy young of the southeast asian development center-->> we got here to the neighborhood in 1981. i grew up here. >> reporter: a personal mission to provide a bright spot in an area that so desperately needs it. >> the language barrier is significant and our folks don't speak english that well and they have trouble navigating the services and understanding the system. >> reporter: the sd adc was founded in 1977 to support the influx of newly arrived vietnamese, cambodian and
